- MEGA MEK - Everything You Need to Know! Ark: Survival Evolved Extinction - Today we'll be taking a look at everything you need to know with the Mek and the MEGA MEK! Including how to craft it, modules, damage numbers, and a hidden item called the M.O.M.I
Extinction is the third paid DLC expansion pack for ARK: Survival Evolved.

Extinction places survivors on an Element-infested, ravaged planet filled with fantastical creatures both organic and technological. Earth holds both the secrets of the past and the keys to its salvation.
Unique Environmental Features
Electromagnetic waves are present at certain locations, rendering items such as GPS useless.
Orbital Supply Drops that fall from the sky and when activated, starts a PvE horde-styled event.
Overview
The map appears as if it was laden in the future, overgrown with sci-fi and nature. A shattered moon floats high above Earth's red, swollen sky. A variety of strange, mutated plants, most red or orange, grow among the rocks of the barren wasteland. Corrupted Spires made of corrupt Element appear to be the source of the Corrupted Creatures roaming the land. A blue Obelisk floats above a snow region, surrounding it in a protective forcefield. The Overgrown City sits near the snow area, apparently made of TEK but malfunctioning. A host of Technological creatures surround the city, but organic ones can be found there as well. This is not the Earth we know.
Boys and girls of the shaft- I know you’ve all been asking for it and… it’s time to do it! EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW- ABOUT THE MEK! We’re gonna talk about how you go from this… small, weak, little wimpy boi, that shoots little sparklers at your enemy, to THIS alpha chad robot ASDFRAGAGREA So where to start? Well let’s start small, with the wimpy boi mek.
Now this small boi has a little tek toothpick, and a nerf gun. Cool! He can hover around, but watch out! If you thought this was going to be the END of your flyers FOREVER! This new mech brings with it a new mechanic of heat, not the outside kind, the im gonna just STOP working kind. If you let your heat meter get too high, your mech will become sluggish and not really operational which will get you killed. Being made from tek the mech is powered by the obvious- element, A LOT OF IT.
Let's get back into the topic we all really care about, those BIG GUNS-wimpy boi guns. So check this out! The meks have a module slot in their armor which let’s you attach various modules, to enhance your meks capabilities. The biggest of them all being the M.S.C.M a huge cannon strapped to your mechs back!
Does a touch over 1k damage
No splash
Kinda hard to aim because at some angles you can’t really see what you’re shooting
Takes cannon shells which are heavy
Meks in general have pretty decent weight
Next up we have the M.R.L.M a pod launcher that is strapped to your back!
Takes rocket pod ammo
This guy kinda sucks actually
Does burst damage which can bust through metal or stone but really not worth it
Meh against dinos & damages yourself
Lastly there is the M.D.S.M a big shield that you carry on your mech, by pressing C you release a large tek bubble around your mech.
The shield runs on element & causes heat
Kinda silly cuz enemy can just walk through it
Blocks projectiles minus rockets
Overall meh
Finally we have the sword and pistol.
Sword and pistol scale based on level of mek
Interestingly sword does same damage no matter structure, it’s okay damage I guess.
Pistol does slightly more on stone than metal totally not worth using.
Modules ALWAYS do same damage no matter what. If you can find a high quality bp then you could get more damage.
All of these modules are craftable at a tek replicator, requiring you to be above level 93. All you gotta do is put the mek in your hotbar and drop it where ever. Could be a good mobile raiding tool. Gotta admit this stuff is pretty pricey for what it does. Do you think it’s worth the cost? Are they too weak?
Now for the coolest part of all… THE MEGA MECH
This bad boy makes the normal mech look like a little new born baby boi or girl. This thing is insane and towers over literally EVERY creature in the game, except one.
Sadly can only be used in king titan boss

But how do we do this though? How do we craft a mega mek, there’s no engram for it?
This will require a M.O.M.I which can only be acquired by defeating the beta level king titan. To use this M.O.M.I you will need 5 mechs, equipping the M.O.M.I to one of them. When the boss gets summoned your mechs will all transform into ONE COLOSSAL MEGA MECH to crush the king!
The megamek is strong but not as strong as titans in our testing

the shield module gives as much ARMOR as a saddle, so a mythical one could be interesting to fight bosses and btw you can make turrets focus your shield and tribemates can c4 the base
the m.o.m.i gives more armor than the shield BUT you can only get it in common so no

Thickfrredom, the shield tool gives armor when equiped like a saddle and when the actual sheild is up, all allies in the sheild get an additional 50% damage reduction and all enemies in the shield when it goes down take 50% extra damage.
Not gonna lie you calling the smaller mek wimpy annoys me you can only summon the mega mek in the final boss so isn’t that one even less useful?

For big alpha size server wipes it's definitely useful. That amount of element for the mega tribes that literally own multiple servers is nothing. However just for raids. Just flying around being a mini boi killing stuff is very inefficient
Except that element is non transferable so you would have to farm element on raising servers
I have a feeling the Mega Mex alternate attacks are like the anki's alternate attacks where it depends on which direction you're looking in comparison to the Dino
The shield accessory also provides armor, like a saddle does for dinos, so it is VERY useful as it is the only piece of equipment that provides armor to the mek.
So if you are sniping with the mek, you might want the cannon, if you are looking for some AOE damage, you might want the rocket pod, and if you want to tank, you want the shield module.
The shield will block auto turret fire, tek turret fire, plant X fire, and velonasaur fire. It won't block rockets, but the significant thing to note about that is that unlike bullets, there are no automated rocket turrets, so anything shooting a rocket at you is manned by a player. Also, while the shield unit won't block the shot, it does grant that armor to help you take the hit.
If you aren't going to be using the rocket pod, and aren't going to be using the cannon, then the shield unit is the obvious choice, because even if you never use the shield, you still get the armor, helping you tank better than without it, but you can also use the shield to make your enemy have to engage you at closer range or narrow the range of threats he can pose to you. If your enemy doesn't have a rocket on him, then he has to come into your sword range to attack you.

Boss fights drop the better blueprints. Ascendant meks are absurdly powerful as are the ascendant versions of modules. Except the shield, which I'm not sure if it gets stronger or not. Considering two meks with even the basic shields already invalidate turret nests completely it's still easily the most overpowered module. The shield module also gives armor like a saddle which *does* scale with blueprint quality.
I'm pretty sure the shield alone is going to completely change how alpha tribes do raiding as they more or less invalidate all forms of automated defense.
There are indeed mek and mek upgrade bps. There dmg for both upgrades Meks are higher. I have a 573 bot that gives mek 600% health and same for most other stats
Thiccfreedom, you can find ascendant meks and ascendant modules from bossfights, i got one of each from each of the titans
Does the lvl of the Meks used to form the mega mek effect it in anyway?
I think so since there is different tier MOMI 'S thats the part that holds them together or something I know this because I have a MOMI that says 110 damage and 1 that says 239 damage so must do somthing different
From what I’ve seen so far, there are higher tier blueprints for the modules. I saw them drop from the king titan.
Also I’m gonna assuming their will be a way to edit severs to change damage on mechs and may change the requirements for mega mek
I used commands to get an ascendant M.O.M.I. It was a godlike beast that did about the same damage as the normal mega MEK, but the alpha king titan barely made a scratch in its health.
Purple drops give better mek blueprints but really rare, i did 3 purple drops and got only one apprentice
red and purple it depends on which wave at the pruple drop you end when you get wave 14 i think a mek bp isnt rare ;)

The normal Mek is by far the best “tame” to use for killing the titans on extinction (excluding king Titan).It’s also the best extinction creature for doing supply drops and even element veins of your careful where your shoot your gun and swing your sword.
I can confirm that you can 1v1 the Alpha Titan King with the mega mech and win, the problem is when you kill the king the mech self destructs.

The cannon on the baby mek can shoot metal right see the problem it has more range than turrets so you can destroy everything and it can go into your pokeball so you can throw it out and kill everything and the rocket in close range obliterates and the shield you can place it near the base and soak turrets or if youre close enough you can use your wooden toothpick and destroy metal
Very first orbital drop I did had a ramshackle mek blueprint in it, so they're definitely in game, at least for single player.

While the mega Mek was only covered slightly, that's due to its limited use. Most noobs aren't going to know that fact, they see big robot on screen, they want big robot in-game. Thus, in order to show people reality vs. What they're expecting, the video title uses the most obvious thing to those who haven't had any experience with Meks at all. Thus you get the 7 things you NEED to know about mega mek. It seems clickbaity because you already know the mega mek. I didn't know what it really was, nor did/do several more just like me.
So for myself, I came looking for info on mega mek and now I understand why tiny mek is the primary focus as it's the ONLY mek you get to free roam with. So I learned the answers I wanted, just not exactly what i was expecting.

Higher level meks are from orbital supply drops. The purple ones give the best rewards and should only be looted after completing wave 11.
if you wanna use the mega mek without it dying for your future videos , spawn it in , ride it , then do Cheat infinitestats.... that will keep it alive

I got a lv160 journeyman mek bp from a red drop and I've gotten several bps for modules from killing the forest titan as well. The lv160 mek is insanely good.
The mek doesn't use element with his sword or his float. Only his gun and module abbilities

the shield mod also blocks the king titans meteor shower attack but wont hold out for much more then a few attacks so if you use it in that way bring spares i use about 5-7 per gamma king-titan fight with my tribe

Out of curiosity did you notice there's a massive portion of the map that isn't complete west of the city? What are your thoughts?
In starwars it made sense- Lasers arent bodys like rockets or grenades which will pass through it. Well bullets are. I guess the devs thought that it was balanced and made sense and passed it before thinking even a second about it. Pretty sure

you can get mod prints of higher grade from the king titan but from what i have seen in testing them its still not any more damage just takes longer to break

Hey thick that king titan loot answered your earlier question, get higher tier mech weapons by defeating the king titan, you got an apprentice missile launcher in that one.
What about the damage to tek structures? And the rocket pod's rockets are supposed to zero in at longer ranges, what kind of damage can it do if all of the rockets hit an area the size of say 2x2 walls?

You can use the spyglass while in the Mek to achieve zoom in the siegecannon

You can find higher tier blueprints for the mech, they are just rare. But if you have a mod which gives items that can increase the level of a dino, those items will work on the mech, allowing you to augment its damage and turning it into a beast. My primitive mech, which I named Escaflowne, can do 10,000 damage with it's blade and 9,000 damage with its pistol, but I had to put all of the points it gained into damage modification for that, so I will be resetting my mech next time I play because I want that bastard to be a tank health wise.
As for use, in Exctinction I found it was useful for when I wanted to kill the titans rather then tame them, and I found it useful for clearing out many of the bigger monsters that roam around extinction as well. I also found the mechs useful during the Alpha King Titan, for me and a couple of friends always keep two mechs each on stand by in our inventory in case they get murdered, and while I was using the Mega Mech to battle the Alpha King Titan, they used their mechs to battle the smaller creatures it kept summoning throughout the fight.
Outside of Extinction, while I can't use the mega mech, I have found that the mini mech is great for boss battle's, even against modded creatures, as well as for clearing out base locations of unwanted dinos. I fell it was built for that, and it is really awesome having something from the vanilla game that, with a little tweaking, I can pit against even some of the most insane modded creatures I encounter in my game.
Course, once the mech hits the dev kit, who knows what's going to be birthed.

The rocket pods don't get shot by turrets and you can shoot them at long distance, they are really good for griefing

The meks weren't designed for PVP. But solely for PVE. It's not so much greatest to view it from a PVP standpoint. The meks were designed to fight the boss Titans in the game. They aren't exactly meant to make the fights easier, but to give you enough grounds to not quit the game. I've defeated two of the three Titans on my server, and the shield MEK does great against the desert Titan who shoots little organic rocket pods. The Shield will protect you from them. As for the giant laser cannon, it's damn near the perfect thing to use to hit the Titan on its taming areas. And for the Rockets, they are great for overall damage, or crowd control. They're not meant to one shot everything, but to damage everything at once. The weakness of the MEK that you point out, is because you're by yourself. They're meant to be used in teams. Meaning having your entire tribe using them with you.
