I have, and I may go that route at some point in the future. I figure I'll spend more time with the Jeep running than just being in one place so DC charging should be OK. I considered a super cheap 30W portable panel just as an emergency backup but we'll see.
Have you thought about mounting a flexible solar panel to the rooftop tent and having the power run inside?

I'm wondering how you mount your camera as seen on 7:33 ?
I'm actually holding the GoPro out the window with my hand haha. It was very cold.
