I'll never forget the first time i watched Over the garden wall in the CN Halloween Special, I'm not from the US and never been there till now, so I didn't have proper knowledge of the myths and about the earlier eras of colonial times, which now i'm really into, but even so the show addressed this culture so different from mine, I was still able to feel immersed in that Fairy tale-like adventure. OTGW is one of the reasons that I dream to work with animation and music, mainly anything related to entertainment ans creativity. By now I'm still only 19, but I hope to achieve at least a bit of the beautiful results your art did and still does. Thank you, Patrick.
You’re style always manages to make me feel a way nothing else does. I’ll never shake that feeling I had in 2014 of feeling like I was completely immersed in some old antique store, learning animation can stir so many more emotions inside than just comedy, all because of two boys, a bird and a frog named Jason Funderburker. I’m starting college January with the dream of working in TV one day. After reading my stories my academic advisor’s scheduling me a Comedy Central internship! Thank you for having a permanent impact on me, I look so forward to your future projects!
Im in university (uk) for art at the moment , I've always been inspired artistically by folklore , history and culture. Patricks art is beautiful and incredible to me and so many others ❤ Absolutely charming :) good luck in Comedy Central!!
@@snoopy_poopy Thanks so much! It really is amazing when animation incorporates feelings of being somewhere from another time, or places other than your typical suburban neighborhood most cartoons take place in. I live in the states but my mom’s British so I’m visiting my grandparents in Newark this summer! Best of luck to you!
I discovered this this time last year and all I could think about is how much this reminded me if your early Over The Garden Wall concepts. Like the demon looks like old Beast designs! I like to believe this takes place in the same world.
I love your work Patrick Mchale, i'm your fan, Thanks for creating great stories based on folklore you have inspired me to enter the world of art and animation.❤️🍀
01:28 this scene of him being out of breath and putting all the dead bodies together and then sadly getting back to his shelter has given me goosebumps... so heart-wrenching! And it has reminded me a bit of the princess mononoke scene where San stabbed Ashitaka into his heart; but here, alas, no embrace in response came to this "misunderstood monster". Quite the contrary... Beautiful. Thank you for this, sharing it to all my friends with obsession! Such a subtle and talented thing. And what a lovely tune...!
How did I not know you have a UA-cam channel until now? Huge fan of your work, OTGW is easily my favorite animated show (2nd favorite show in general) I love the graphic novel of BAGS, and seeing you credited as co-writer for Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio got me so excited for that movie. I'm always looking forward to seeing what you work on next.
For some reason, I get the same vibes as that one live-action vimeo project (I think I found it thru your website, possible beast inspo, kind of grendel-y?). Thanks for the Content.

This is the most Pat Mchale thing I’ve ever seen!!! This is what I would show someone who doesn’t know who you are to get a good idea.

Shadow Puppetry has always interested me, from people like Richard Bradshaw to Lotte Reiniger, this is especially good

Your style is absolutely mesmerizing
Amazing work with such fluidity within the cut outs that truly astounds me! reminds me of the fisherman and his wife :#^)

Very Beautiful i love it 💕 Also reminds me of Many Too Many by Genesis haha
These shadow puppets/finger puppets are incredible. Thank you again for making some of my favorite music videos and stories, period.

Such a beautiful work, it's always endearing to see your past projects
Lovely work, I really liked the feel the cut out gave to the animation, some really nice stuff, the scenes of the killings especially!
Amazing 🎃✨
Well done! ❤
This is beautiful 💖 Your work is so thoughtful.

Yeah i seem to make a lot of little videos about misunderstood monsters
@@oldsidelinghill The world can never have enough of that.
oohhh this is very good, did you use a multiplane to get the like, more faded trees in the background?
I did! My living room was a mess with panes of glass and plastic stacked on different parts of chairs, etc
This is so cool, did you use magnets or wires to move the puppets? Its totally seamless!
Its a mix of methods, mostly i used strips of clear plastic (like thick cellophane)
@@oldsidelinghill Interesting, thanks a bunch
Is this the right or wrong time to ask for a copy of Blackford Manor *shut up and take my money meme*
