Dacob, as an Italian I thank you so much for pronouncing Versace in the correct way, and not like everyone who says “versaceeh" your content is always top, keep it up
@@eddieg6436 I worked in Harvey Nichols in the mid 1980’s and Paul Davies the legendary international buying director had bought Michael kors for the store. The first to do so outside the U.S.I remember Kors coming in and thanking Davies profusely for doing this but then the line was very different from what it became. Then the Bags happened……🤮
It’s sad to see what has happened to Versace. I actually used to love their make up back in the day. Their pressed powder was amazing. Still have the compact that I use as a travel mirror.
I remember when they sold makeup, I owned so much of their makeup products. I had the entire brush collection, I still have the powder brush and a compact. I was so upset when they discontinued the makeup line. I have a Versace watch. 😄
The mens FW 24 pieces are some of my favorites for Versace menswear ever. The collection was soooooo good! The chain belts on the men, omg I love! Loved all the black on black, leather, fur, sequins.
I like the ridiculous Barbie shoes they did, I think that sort of dollish whimsical attire could be a good way for them to move, like another version of Moschino
respectfully, it’s been nearly 30 years…holding onto & recycling Gianni ideas isn’t exactly conducive to creativity. It’s a brand not a museum exhibition
I buy from a friend who does resale/buys liquidation and she gets in the more Versace bags than any designer right now. Even when she lowers prices, they rarely sell. Those bags are circling the liquidation market for real.
Say what you want about Versace but I have a bunch of luxury bags from 20 yrs ago. The only ones that held up were the Versace and the LV Suhali. They literally look new. The Chanel and Valentino bit the dust.
I feel like they are doing fine honestly(who isn’t struggling rn😅), but who doesn’t own their sunglasses, fashion jewelry and their silks?. I see them everywhere! Their bags come and go sure but i think the corporation behind them took a hit but the brand is as relevant as ever. Idk am i missing something? 🤔
Yes you are - how old are you by the way? Versace used to be an exclusive haute couture house with a legit and respectable pret-a-porter line. Then the '80's came. It got commercialized and mass marketed. Their image became synonymous with rappers, ballers, cheezy real estate millionaires, actresses, Las Vegas, drug dealers. By the end of the '90's/2000's this became their stereotype, and they were ruined image-wise. There were a couple of controversial seasons where I believe their offerings were deemed vulgar, and the designs were considered to be in decline as well. There was the murder too near the end of the 90's. They have never been the same since the mid-90's, IMO. It's so sad. There was a movie made about the murder, if you want to dig it up and watch it.
@ i’m aware of most of its history and the brand has its fair share of moments of not doing so well like gucci and burberry are now. But let me ask you how many brands have stayed the “same”? Those stereotypes have changed to pop culture figures in general, who hasn’t been dressed in atelier on the red carpets ? Im saying for what it’s worth it’s still a wonderful brand to this day. Rip Gianni and shout out to Donatella.
Wow! No wonder I've been seeing Versace (not just Versus or Versace Jeans, but Versace) sunglasses, watches and belts on sale at Nordstrom Rack starting at just over $100 - most of them over 50% off of the original price.
Yeah I picked up a side job at a luxury retail store and oddly enough people are STILL buying it for full price 😂😭. I sold a pair of cheap looking sunglasses for $400 and all I could think was “you can get these from Nordstrom rack” but I don’t say anything because I want my sale/commission 🤷♀️💀 I would NEVER buy a versace item for full price lmao!
La medusa bags were popular last year. I love the 95 reto bags and the kelio line now. I feel the quality of Versace even outlet is way better than Gucci or LV. The cloths are hit or miss tho. Versace cloths are still popular with rappers so maybe they can keep Versace alive a bit longer. Hope it does not become MK. 😭maybe super J should apply to be creative director 🫡
Used to work for Michael Kors until earlier this year and there were rumours of MK selling Versace. Rumours have it that the people at V are difficult to work with (too much drama), plus the aesthetics are not aligned with the rest of the brands (eg MK, Jimmy Choo, Coach etc) …. Unsure how much of it is real or actually going to happen.
Someone at work has versace ballet flats in severl differt coulors. They are just plain leather but the have a large hold medusa at the front. I am always SO envious when she weears them.
2:17 Tapestry is Coach...... As in Coach bags. 4:36 They are doing bad. The Versace baroque style is so over done that you can easily find it at Swaptmeets. 10:00 2010, everyone wanted a Versace belt.
Agreed; Gianni was the one with real vision. I wonder what he would have created during the past 27 years had we not lost him, and what Versace would look like now - he might have gone in a completely different direction!
Gianni is like Pablo Picasso. Donatella does paint by numbers. Donatella was Better off doing something different. Like PR or marketing for luxury brands. She'll always be compared to a genius
Michael Koors got eay too into the outlet market and years ago there was talk about it really damaging their brand. Not sure extending that to another label wasn't a bit risky.
Versace always had some trash items . It also has times where it falls out of fashion. In a couple of years time a new girl will come along and it will be hot again.
They should’ve sold to LVMH or Kering. When I first heard they sold to MK I gasped!!! Also they need new blood. Donatella has nothing left to prove she stepped up and did what needed to be done after Giannis death. Now it’s time for someone who loves the brand to offer a fresh perspective. I also need them to step up the quality of the leather goods. The brand could be so much more than it is currently.
I was wondering the same thing about the brand where is it going to… the outlet store in my mall is always so quiet I keep thinking why they are still here 🎀
So like you know what I’ve noticed, like just this year alone? 🤔 Whenever I’m at a mall or even the luxury high end malls, I mostly see older women and men that are the ones wearing these brands. Mostly the women. Mostly LV. Oh and when I’m at Trader Joe’s. The LV miniature speedy were definitely out. 😅 The younger girls and women were usually wearing the athleisure brands like Lululemon, Athleta, Alo, Altar D’State, Fabletics, Skims, etc. Combined with maybe some Nike shoes or Adidas. You know wearing like yoga leggings or bodysuits. The butt shapers lol. So many Lululemon fanny packs with the tote bag. ☺️ Some Aerie and Aeropostale and the new up and coming store like Aritizia. Which is like a mix of athletic, yoga, business casual, trendy chic type stuff. Other shops that I’ve seen mostly girls at were mostly Sephora bags mostly for makeup or skin care products and Nordstrom. Mostly with their moms when carrying Nordstrom bags. And still at Victoria Secret. 😌 And for the most part the designer labels I saw as bags, medium to miniature size were Gucci, LV, Coach, Kate Spade & Tory Burch. Tory Burch stores stayed busy. And I know Coach & Kate Spade aren’t considered luxury to some but I’m still listing it. 🙃 But I rarely saw anyone with Chanel shopping bags other than the small ones for perfumes. Nor have I seen anyone with any Chanel handbags. Not even at the richest places. Where you see all the elderly jogging & taking their morning routine walks lol. 😅
I stopped buying versace, the quality went down. The leather isn’t there anymore, it’s sad. And the outlet seems bland. I just swung by to see but no more buy versace

Omg Dacob, have you realised that not one youtuber who bought into Fendace has actually worn and styled their pieces out, and many of them are also selling them off. I just find it pathetic
I feel so sorry for once legendary Versace - my long ago former favorite fashion house. I used to love Gianni. I cried when he was murdered. The Ghetto/The Nouveau Riche/Blue Collar luxury ruined Versace, Louis Vuitton and several other houses (for me) by encouraging more of the commercial, mass-market business plan they all chose to implement after the mid 90's. Grifters, "ballers", "rappers", drug dealers, Cheezy lotto winners, etc. got into Versace et al. and ruined their collective brand image. By the beginning of the 2000's, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was wearing and using Versace in his skits for the WWE/Vince McMahon. Jay-Z and "Diddy" were wearing it. By this time, I was DONE. I now only pay attention to Versace if I find authentic vintage versions of it in resale/thrift stores. It's so unfortunate how american unexceptionalism and commercialism ruins and destroys anything of worth or culture. 😢
Dacob, as an Italian I thank you so much for pronouncing Versace in the correct way, and not like everyone who says “versaceeh" your content is always top, keep it up
vowels are hard
Versace’s last nail in the coffin was MKors buying them.
Yeap, now American profits over quality will take over.
Idk about that. Imo they significantly improved the bag designs. I can't speak on other aspects though.

Versace is pretty nice!
Their known for their silk. Such as scarfs, blouses and sunglasses too.
