Ive ridden our 2013 and 2015 summit 154's for a bunch of years now.. currently riding our 2015 154 2.25 as my primary sled (as my dad got a 2016 146... not for sure why..), and I saw this video awhile ago and couldn't understand how the ridders could get the sled to do some of that stuff (I love side hilling and playing in the trees, but couldn't dream about like side hilling up the side of a steep hill with both skis in the air... but we just got a 2017 850 154 2.5, and I got to unload it and take it for its first spin (used with like 600 miles.... so out of break in, with an after market can...) and holy (f word) these things are insain.... we live in wisconsin... so we have to travel to get out of the flat land... but I'm so hyped for our next trip... like our "old" (just two years old...) 800's don't even come close to comparing with the new 850's (I hope the 850's last... I haven't seen any reports of high mile ones yet... idk...) and this knew chassis (although I agree it looks like a frog lol... ours is mostly black and some bright yellow... which I think is better then the white and orange... idk maybe it will grow on me) is so easy to control in a wheelie... some how they must of redone the t motion completely, it feels like a completely differen't sled, our old 2015 was really planted in wheelie and didn't roll alot, and I've ridden a couple rmk's and they are much tippier, but felt uncontrollable... but this 850 just rides, I guess like a dirt bike almost, I can just lean it around with my weight (and I'm 160lbs soaking wet in all my gear lol) these sleds are incredible
Im a Polaris guy, and I am thoroughly impressed! Wow! Also helps when you have one of the best in the biz sitting behind the handlebars. Hahaha Best line at 3:56 haha
these new 850s definitely show up all the new sleds from the last year saying they can get you places you shouldn't be. the 850 puts hole new name to that. they just flat out go
Brian,,, we were some of the lucky few that got to ride it last spring, April brings out the hero and the big balls, but all of the competition had met there life span on there motors and weren't able to come and compare,,,,, but this season there will be some pow footage
Hey Mike, did this machine have a shorter handlebar riser? Looks shorter than the prototype I rode. Curious if I should look into getting a shorter stem...
Ya for sure we had a shorter riser, It made all the difference, If your knuckles drag on the ground the OEM will be perfect,,,, I'm hoping the production model will have shorter risers on it
+Mike Suter Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Compact and easy to carry is the way to go for sure. I shoot with a Canon SLR (photos and video) plus a couple of GoPro's. I have to carry extra lenses for the SLR, batteries (SLR and GoPro's), a bunch of mounts and a tripod. For years I carried all this on my back but finally got smart and dumped the weight on the sled tunnel with a Pelican case. My neck and shoulders are thanking me. I also used to carry an older Canon ZR65-MC camcorder but it's outdated and doesn't shoot with same aspect ratios or resolution as my current cameras. Anyway, the reason I asked you for your camera was for the zoom function. Your camera work is clean and the zoom is crisp. This is what I want. I can only manually turn the lens on my SLR for zoom which equates to a lot of camera shake and blurry shooting (auto focus isn't great for video) at best. Really drives me crazy when I get to the editing. So, after all that talking.....thanks again for your reply. I checked out the camera and for sure I'll have to get something similar.
What are your power gains for 50cc? If a 600 makes 130 and an 800 makes 155-160 thats about 10hp per 100cc. So it should have at least 5hp more than the 800etec? Call it 165hp?
sounds good on paper... all depends on stroke, timing and a advanced technology in computers they can create power from porting compression ratio the pipe and many other variables.. cc. is only the start,,, this engine is a torque monster and that's what carries the momentum that makes this sled fun
I hear ya. Is it just a stroked 800? Or it the bore larger too? Thinking of going big bore on my pro, but a turbo is only a couple grand more for a 120hp gain. Still a toss up.
165'' was pretty sweet, but if this thing rips like any of the 154'' in the past decade it will be the sickest sled in combo with the 54'' and new chassis this will be a game changer
+Mike Suter sweet! Thanks for the info!Just wondering because I got a 165" and my brother and dad got the 154" either way it's a huge change from the 2001 summit 600 137. Should have an awesome winter!
we didn't do a lot of comparison, but it looks, rides, handles, and feels like a whole new critter, there is no doubts it is going to out perform the xm,
there both great sleds, side hilling and deep pow the 65 is tough to beat, but deep pow don't come and stay very long, the 54 hands down is so much faster and nibble
he owns a sled but its a 600 hahahahaahah his gay ass brother drew croft followed me on Instagram when I posted some sled pics and i seen the name , looked thru his profile and yup sure enough seen megs shitty 600 lol still too much power for meg!
would love to see the same rider(s) on a 3-4 year old sled in the same area as a comparison - this video doesn't really show or prove anything, other than April riding is fun to go anywhere you want.
+Dwayne Schnell spring riding is fun and can be done on anything, the point to this sled is how effortless it is to ride and to be able to do it all day long and not be wore out I have a 1998 670 I used to wait till spring just to ride this area and I could climb this same hill but only once because I had to work my butt off to keep it stuck to the hillside, with the G4 you can dangle any direction all day long,, So why not step up from a xm and ride the G4 with less effort and better technology ??
+Franklin Natomagan The 872 has been a favorite for sure, Trygstad is in the development stage, early next winter we hope to have it so we can do some testing and comparisons.
Heli pro 22 that's the dumbest shit I ever heard......a yamahahaha? Yamaha sells speakers and keyboards to keep their very small snowmobile market segment even feasible
Finally glad to see someone who is good at driving drive this sled. Definetlely going to buy this sled
We need to get Larry enticed on one of these

Awesome riding!! Excellent video work too. Well done!
03:56 "...She rolls good..." xD
Hey Mike great vid..can't wait for snow! Stock can on it? Sounds great!
Im a Polaris guy, and I am thoroughly impressed! Wow! Also helps when you have one of the best in the biz sitting behind the handlebars. Hahaha Best line at 3:56 haha
One badass sled, especially if it's all stock!
2:15 I would have tumbled down the hill at that point. great riding skills!
these new 850s definitely show up all the new sleds from the last year saying they can get you places you shouldn't be. the 850 puts hole new name to that. they just flat out go
I remember those 2017 850 Etec editions, those are awesome sleds
You remember them? Lmao they still make the 850 etec
Buddy rides like the wind!!!
nice! i'd love to ride one. vegas . snow is far away! sand isn't. but the tree bobbing is crazy!
You think the 175 X 3" is too long for the 850 and the 165" is all a guy really needs cuz the 175 is less maneuverable?
That guy shreds he's awesome
didn't take long to chew up that hill .awesome seems to have lots of power
perfect date for testing!
I did not think you were coming out of that hole nice work
+ Mike Suter , any video of it in actual pow ? video of performance on hero snow doesn't do any manufacturer justice .
Brian,,, we were some of the lucky few that got to ride it last spring, April brings out the hero and the big balls, but all of the competition had met there life span on there motors and weren't able to come and compare,,,,, but this season there will be some pow footage
wow , nice footage ! keep ripping it up man
didnt know they were making them in 2016, great video and incredible skills though
Love the new sled Mike
Man I wish we had places like this in the Midwest.
Isn't the 165 a better option than the 154, since it only weights 3kg more?
could be all depends on your style of riding??
It could be,,,, it all depends on your riding style, some track speed with some wheelies get the blood flowing for me 154'' all the way!!
Looks like it rips but hero snow makes anything look bad ass.
You can HEAR the crisp responsiveness of the engine in the video.
Hey Mike, did this machine have a shorter handlebar riser? Looks shorter than the prototype I rode. Curious if I should look into getting a shorter stem...
Ya for sure we had a shorter riser, It made all the difference, If your knuckles drag on the ground the OEM will be perfect,,,, I'm hoping the production model will have shorter risers on it
Thanks! #isitwinteryet
flick able madness. you can hear the crisp. throttle response
Some great riding there guys! Sled looks awesome. Can you tell me what camera you are filming with? Thanks.
+Sn0wm0bileJunky I am filming with a Panasonic HC-V520 nothing fancy just compact and easy to carry..
+Mike Suter Hey, thanks for the quick reply. Compact and easy to carry is the way to go for sure. I shoot with a Canon SLR (photos and video) plus a couple of GoPro's. He got a lot air with the snow jump
How do you think this will compare to the new polaris 800 pro rmk 163?
If they can make it up to were the snow is deep, I'm looking forward for the comparison
Stener Wirkola......skidoo doesn't compare to the Polaris well.....Polaris break down well before comparisons can begin
I cant get any of them to go ride with us to compare them,, seriously!!!!

+Mike Suter how do you like the 165"? Any thoughts on how it'll compare to the 154"
Thanks

0:38 the e-tec is real
This looks fun
I'm so glad I snow checked this sled!!!!!!!
I'm so jealous. I'm gonna try to upgrade to xm from my Rev next year. these new ones just go anywhere
Stock clutching?
How does the 850 compare tot he 800?
we didn't do a lot of comparison, but it looks, rides, handles, and feels like a whole new critter, there is no doubts it is going to out perform the xm,
Awesome video not only does the sled have to be powerful that's so it is the person behind the sled better be strong to
What would you pick of a 65 or 54?
In the G4, chassis I would take 54'' 3'' every time
Do you think the 54 would climb this hill as easy as the 65?
there both great sleds, side hilling and deep pow the 65 is tough to beat, but deep pow don't come and stay very long, the 54 hands down is so much faster and nibble
anybody else just sitting here like "yup this guy is cracked"
Yeah good ol hero snow ...even makes the ol skinny track firecat do this
is it stock?
I know this is an old video and a 2 year old comment, but yes it’s 100% stock
Smith fork?

They should have called it the RMK KILLER😂
Jacob Wamsley no they call the rmk the summit killer
lol i can confirm this haha i have a rmk ind i know damn well it doesn't come close to this maybe with a turbo but still thats fucking impressive
thats a way better rider than i am also
I just woke up and its a bran new sled but don't be silly im still gonna send it
Turbo? Sure pulls the front end more than my 2019 850
Tony SanFilippo you’d know if it was a turbo bc of the sound 😒
That hero snow makes that 850 look insane...but get the Axys and cat out there with good riders and theyll all do the same.
What's raw?
Rotax Adjustable Wheelie bar :) JK its un-edited footage
Very impressive!
Where is this?
western wyoming
Any 154" and up can do it on that snow... theirs no powder there.
Lol I thought the same thing but I had to walk up the hill to do the filming cause my 54'' couldn't get there
Skilled riders on a nice machine on hero snow = entertaining.

would love to see the same rider(s) on a 3-4 year old sled in the same area as a comparison - this video doesn't really show or prove anything, other than April riding is fun to go anywhere you want.

Heli pro 22 that's the dumbest shit I ever heard......a yamahahaha? Yamaha sells speakers and keyboards to keep their very small snowmobile market segment even feasible
