- Part of our cross-country trip in our Subaru Outback Wilderness included 3 nights of camping and exploring the Kofa National Wildlife Refuge just outside of Yuma, AZ. This location is full of easy overland trails that lead you to some of the most beautiful camp spots we have ever found. If Overlanding is your thing and you're looking for a place to spend several days exploring without seeing the same place twice then this is for you!

Word of advice drones are not allowed in KOFA...
Great video and music
Thank you!
Thanks for taking the time to share your adventures.
11:43 what are we cooking tonight, barbacoa... My Mexican ass was like oooooooo shit
😂😂😂
Gorgeous. Enjoy the music
Thank you!
What are the names of the songs?
I’m not sure, I would have to look on my computer.
@@roamingwithjosh I found the opening song… “Make it Out” by Boundary Run.
Sweet! Sorry for the lack of info on that!
I always enjoy your videos and the music you add. Have you ever thought about putting together a Spotify playlist to share with others?
That’s a good idea. I’ll look into it!
Thanks. I have a white outback wilderness and Jeep rubicon and it’s fun watching your adventures. Have you shared previously what you use from drone and camera equipment?
I have not. I’m not sure how many people would be interested in it.
I really enjoy your videos. Although I am unlikely to venture with my outback Wilderness as you do, it is great to travel with you.
We appreciate you coming along and thanks for the kind words!
No matter the journey, enjoy the obw! I’m loving mine as well

Awesome stuff Josh!!! Gorgeous location
Thanks, dude!
AZ has a lot of nice places to experience
Agreed!
Great video! Great views! I adventure ride my BMW R1250 GSA down there a few times a year. It’s a wonderful place to explore & get out to and forget the rest of the world for a few days. I recently purchased an Autumn Green OBW. Hope to see you guys on the trail! ✌️
Awesome place! Likewise!
It is on my bucket list to buy the newer Yamaha T7 and also explore some trails with that. I already own an FZ07 which is more of a commuter/hooligan street bike that is an upright posture bike much like a dirtbike so you can ALMOST take some trails standing up, but it just doesnt have the wheels or suspension or clearance. The T7 has all that and the same sweet low end torque motor. I like the BMW's also but decided the T7 was the best fit for me. At this point I might even be able to find a used market one with low miles. Databyter
@@Databyter I’ve ridden the new T7. It should do nicely on trails & back roads. I typically travel long highway distances to get to my trail riding spots, so the big BMW is my choice of whip for both highway & trails.
@@kcrush1 Another positive review. People seem to like them. And yeah I totally get why the very well refined and reliable MBW is a better tool for longer highway trips with perhaps some offroad mixed in. They are very low center of gravity, stable platforms that can carry an incredible amount of weight and still deliver great performance and fun factor. I guess the reason I like the Yamaha is because it is so sleek and lightweight and I love that little motor. You CAN put a lot of gear on that bike, but not as efficiently. There is a lot of dead space which is why those hard cases are so wide you could attach wings and take off. Id buy a soft foldable duffle and try to fill the dead spaces with smaller pouches and bags. Databyter
Skip the first 2 minutes, it’s just a Mac OS Wallpaper commercial :)
It's beautiful scenery.
I’m flattered that you would even compare our video to something apple would create!
Good job breaking the rules you are using a Drone in prohibited air space... People like you make it so people can't have nice things...
The first comment was sufficient, the second was unwarranted. After filming and producing this video I was informed of the restrictions that apply to not only Kofa, but any federally recognized and protected area. Since then I’ve forgone using the drone in these areas. I appreciate the comment, but unlike some, I care deeply about our sacred lands and protecting them is more important to me then filming them.
Cool cinematic video. Keep up the great work. I am mapping to visit this area at the moment. I am looking at covering 108 miles off-road so far. I noticed the military section on the map, is the military area around there gated?
Appreciate it! I’m not certain if it’s gated or not, but your mapping program should be able to keep you in the clear. This is a huge places with hundreds of miles of off-road/overlanding opportunities.
@@roamingwithjosh Okay thank you!
Who would have thought…..fancy French press. I’m a coffeeholic
😂😂 best French press I’ve ever used!
I love that sort of land. At first glance it looks barren. It is not lush and green. But it is still beautiful and the deeper you look the more interest it will hold in wild and plant life, and just raw natural beauty. I could definitely decompress and recharge my batteries in a valley like that. Question, is it a regulation or safety issue that you camp right off the trail like that? I know it probably doesn't see a lot of traffic, but I see a lot of people doing the same. Is it to say howdy to other travelers, to stay safer from puncture or getting stuck, or is it some sort of a BLM guideline? Alsp I am guessing it is not the MAIN road but perhaps one of many smaller offshoots? I need to DL one of those offroading software programs that shows you offroad trails and grades them of difficulty etc. I just got my Subaru Wildebeast a few weeks ago and I'm going to do some exploring in March. Maybe I'll see you guys out there somewhere. I will likely be trying out some systems and camping alone a lot at first just a few days at a time. Is that a safety issue in those remote areas? I will try to talk my daughter into coming on some or my outings, or if really local my Grand Daughter. In fact, it may snow in the Mountains near here this week ( I hope) and one of my first trips hopefully will be to take my 5 year old Grand Daughter to see snow for the first time! It will also be a maiden voyage for the OBW which I call the Wildebeast. I understand we likely do not need (legally) or even want (according to Subaru) snow chains or cables, but I believe CHP requires you to at least HAVE some chains with you. What a waste of space and money but I guess I will need to buy some cheap, small, cable chains. Anyway, Im rambling, so many questions. Inspired by your journey. You guys are so brave and adventurous and even blessed with a little one that I KNOW from experience is a lot of work. Stay safe brother (and sister). Im getting a lot of ideas watching your channel. I like the fire pit, but only if I NEED it to obey regulations. I am assuming that you bought it BECAUSE you are being discouraged from actually digging a fire pit or making one with stones. Etc. so many questions. Later. p.s. mine is dark grey on black. I chose this not because it looks the best but because I thought it would hide dust and dirt the most (And I've already confirmed the truth of this. It can be very dusty and not really show it much) and also because if it gets scratched I intend to just use a black sharpy to cover up the scratch. Call it modern art. I went with Motegi MR139 wheels that weigh 22 lbs. and change and I WAS going to get the KO2's but damn, they are so heavy and I commute in this car, Im not full timing the adventure. I opted for an admitted compromise tire that I hope will hold up. Falken Wildpeak AT Trail's. Same size as your KO2's I believe. A bit lighter and less tough, but hopefully enough. I will likely be carrying less weight than you are so I think it will work. Now that I realize I am probably going to KEEP my stock tires and wheels, I am second guessing my compromise, because I could have just switched out to KO2's for uncompromised fun trips, and switched back to the stock setup for the long stretches of daily commutes or long road trips. Anyway, this is a small book, sorry. Im just excited to be getting out there soon. I've been working 6 days a week for over two years. We've been shorthanded and I am burnt out and spiritually drained. I need some nature and to unplug a bit. p.s. The Kofa is definitely on my list of possibles and thanks for recording in 4K. That extra detail is fantastic in terrain like that. Databyter
Thanks for the novel, it was a good morning read! Camping on BLM land is pretty open to whatever, just stay on the trail and if you see a fire ring then you know you’re good to go. The fire pit is so if we don’t see a fire ring we can still camp without disturbing the landscape, it also allows you to put your feet under the pit and keep them warm on those chilly nights in the mountains or desert. Happy to hear you’re getting a chance to explore soon, we all need a recharge from the grind and 6 days a week can wear anyone out. I hope you get that snow and enjoy the mountain air! Again, thanks for your engagement on the videos and support!
love the enthusiasm at the end without being too cheesy, lol
😂😂 thank you! I try to lay off the cheese as much as possible.
I just got the same ko2 tires you have, what psi do you air down to for trails?
I usually go to 18-20 in the rear and 15-18 in the front depending on my load out.
Bonjour bonjour très belle vidéo ! Merci ;) great vidéo tanks
Thank you!
