Hey man I rarely write a comment, but this video really is a 11/10. For me it comes 4 years too late, since I went through all the steps you did, but I watched the whole thing and it felt like 5 minutes. Thats the first video I see from you, instant sub.
This could not have come at a better time, I ordered my P1S yesterday! I cant wait to stop wasting money on jigs and shop accessories that I can just print myself.
Wow, I added 3D printing to my repertoire a couple years ago and the amount of rabbit holes you just filled in for newbies in a single video is incredible. Well done.
Wow! What an awesome video. I saved it and will refer to it as I learn how to incorporate 3D printing into my woodworking. Thanks for doing so much hard work for us and sharing your knowledge. I see a new channel on your horizon.
Great comprehensive video on 3D printing. I got one of the Ender machines years ago and was completely frustrated by the same things you pointed out. When Anker came out with their M5C, I got one and have been printing up a storm for the last year. So much of a difference. I've done PLA and PETG, but will have to look into some of the others that you mentioned. - Chris
Genuinely a brilliant video that is good as a beginner course even NOT for woodworking. I dabble in both wood and metal fabrication and I've seen a video on car stuff (Thanks SuperFastMatt) but it didn't go that in depth. This video did and fills in all the gaps!
Super great video!! Thank you...Thank you ... Thank you! I loved the links that you have provided. I also own and use the P1S A LOT! and am a Fusion 360 user that is still figuring out the program. I also originally started with the Ender 3 V2 as well and used it for well over a year upgrading it as I went along. As a woodworker as well, I have frequent need to adapt my various vacuum hoses to different tools as I have a mix of Festool and DeWalt tools. I love your channel.
Drew what an awesome video I’m new to 3D Printing I bought the A1 and love it but I’m wishing I would have just went that next step up and got the P1S thinking about getting a second printer already. But this video was so helpful and will be watching it over. Again. Thanks for sharing and definitely going to check out so tools and free prints.
thanks Jim! I hear great things about the A1! Probably fine for what you're doing. I wish it was around 3 years ago! I would have bought that to start.
i love my printer. Already enjoying plenty of stuff like featherboard for my dewalt, the dustcap for tracksaw, adapters, hooks and shit like that. Well worth even every cent, as these are hard to damage if you are a bit tech saavy
I like Magigoo instead of glue stick because no residue is left after the print. The Bambu refill packs are way cheaper if you want to reuse the rolls or print your own. I have used a lot of cheaper filament and a few hours in the dryer fixes any issues.
A fantastic video drew you made sound so easy I’ve got a prusa mk3s and used it 3 times in 3-4 years most due to my health and 2 strokes but I’m looking at saving up for the bamboo one it looks so much easier. I’ll give you 50 out of 10 for video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👨🏼🦽👨🏼🦽🇬🇧
Great video Drew. It's almost too much information in a small time frame. I got the X1C and the AMS having 0 previous experience. It all just works. Thanks.
Most people recommend the Ender as a starting point not _just_ because it saves money, but because it _doesn't_ "just work" and there's a massive community around them. By buying an Ender, if your goal is to get into 3d printing as a hobby, the process of learning what causes the issues you inevitably encounter and learning how to fix them teaches you a ton about how FDM machines work. The Ender is how you get into the hobby. But his video isn't about 3d printing as a hobby. It's about 3d printing to support _another_ hobby (woodworking) or for profit. And if you have people recommending an Ender for _that_ purpose, you're talking to people who don't know what they're talking about.
The ender advice 8snt even good advice if you want to learn. You waste your own time learning about the problems of a particular printer rather than learning about printing generally. Way better to start with a printer that just works the expand from there.
What a great video. I don't even have a 3D printer but still enjoyed it. And @35:54, as a "small gov't conservative/libertarian" the only constitutional amendment that WE NEED NOW is for vendors to standardize on hose fittings. EVERY TIME it's like an adventure in pipe fitting. But once I found out that DeWalt makes a universal locking hose for most of their tools, my pain point went down by several orders of magnitude.
Just started with a Bambu over the summer, but this vid is great. You already earned my sub a couple videos back, but this is just more goodness on top. Love your style. Keep making ;-)
7:34 hmm first layer speed against second layer speed comparison. But yeah the Bambus are fast. My X1C comes first than my Voron 2.4 and last the Snapmaker J1. For people new to 3D printing I would recommend a Bambu A1 or P1S depending on what material they want to print with.
Over at $0.62 per kWH here (I hate PGE) But this 100 watts is not too bad. I've turned into my dad, telling everyone to turn off the lights if you aren't going to be in the room for a few hours...
Resin printers are easy to work with, not sure why you dislike them so much. There is way more post processing with FDM printers if you want no print lines showing.
Do you need wifi to use the app with the p1s, and if I plan on printing abrasives that are high temp what upgrades other than the hardened nozzle and extruder gears do I need
its a custom filament made by Protopasta to match festool exactly proto-pasta.com/collections/all/products/lootsef-green-htpla?variant=42516958281976&aff=131
Been in 3d printing, well almost since the beginnings! Just note, Bambu does some shady biz practices!! Not only did they originally steal Prusa software, then they have “phone home” software, and they may steal and sell your info…! As well as have access to your network! Then add their file sharing system is chuck full of stolen/licensed files!
My issue with Bambu is their more closed and proprietary architecture and also being cloud based. A Qidi Plus 4 will probably be my next printer. For a lower cost I would recommend a Sovol V8. Both are more open and repairable and you won't be stuck with a brick if the company disappears or "goes another direction."
@@wittworks I picked those (well except the Voron) because they actually sell them fully assembled (at a cost, similar to Prusa). But I get were you are coming from.
THIS IS A TERRIFYING THUMBNAIL 😂 My ankermake broke and I just bought a Bambu Lab P1S and set it up last night. We'll see if I'm as terrified after I watch 🫣

thanks! glad it was helpful. it was a painful journey learning all the lessons the hard way - as you know
Agreed, it's a 11/10 for me too.

Quite simply, the best video on UA-cam. Thank you.

This is so helpful. No messing and straight to the point. Thank you
thank you
THANK YOU BEST VIDEO I HAVE FOUND FOR THIS! THANKS!
glad it helped!
This was super helpful, super in depth, and answered so many questions I had. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!

that's great. Good to know we share the same Ender scars!

Outstanding. Now I have 8 more things in my Bambu queue.

for sure. I hope things keep improving! Wild what we can do now that we couldn't (with ease and affordability) 5 years ago
Thank you!! absolutely awesome information earned through trial and error and provided free!!
just passing it along to shorten the learning curves

Let’s go!! Been looking forward to this one
Great video Drew. It's almost too much information in a small time frame. I got the X1C and the AMS having 0 previous experience. It all just works. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful! I was fearing it was too long. X1C is a dream if you can swing it.
@@wittworks it could have been longer. 👍

yes, video is aimed at woodworkers who don't want to learn another hobby

Creality is actually changing for the better, and I think the K1C is a good Bambu alternative
There's a definite fear of spending/wasting money keeping me from 3d printing. Thanks for making this.
My pleasure!
If you’re having first layer issues I’d suggest washing the print plate. A bit of washing liquid helps massively.
keep watching 😃

HAHA -- "These people are the worst and they should be forced to binge-watch Bent's Woodworking" 🤣
good job catching the easter egg
Damn it witt. Now i'm looking at 3D printers. My wife will love you for that. 😁

honestly for a woodworker, the qidi printers are by far the best choice due to their active heated chambers imo.

What did Spencely Design Co do?
we're good friend. He roasts me on his channel and I return the favors.
6:10 uh... yes I can... Its very obvious with the horribly Z-banding on the ender.
Do you need wifi to use the app with the p1s, and if I plan on printing abrasives that are high temp what upgrades other than the hardened nozzle and extruder gears do I need
Drew, what is the best "festool" color filament that you found? I like Hatchbox lime green PETG, wondering what others are using...
its a custom filament made by Protopasta to match festool exactly proto-pasta.com/collections/all/products/lootsef-green-htpla?variant=42516958281976&aff=131

certainly a concern - which is why I waited a while to invest in them. I'd be surprised if they went anywhere. They're all former DJI executives
$0.10/kWh??? Where are you getting electricity so cheap? When you take delivery into account, my electic bill is $0.34/kWh
texas baby

Indiana here and im at $0.13/kWh
PA6 is worst of all, it's soaking moisture and becomes flexible, it doesn't stick to any plate without glue. Why do you even propose to use it?
Ok, gridfinity is stole from Alexandre Chappel here on UA-cam! God I wish people would stop pushing that and give Alex the credit do!
3D printing is overrated. Probably a fad, like the internet
1000%
You have comletely missed out on a number of great printers from RatRig, Sovol and Voron based printers.
most woodworkers dont want to learn 3d printing (another hobby), they want to just 3d print - hence me leaving out the hundreds of other options
