I remember the first time I saw this episode being blown away by it. I watched it over and over and over again. Xena, the kiss, the look she gave gabrielle. The hooded eyes as she moved in for the kiss,letting all her love show for gabrielle. I remember thinking wow oh wow oh wow oh wow oh wow. They love each so much. About time we got a new show. Even after all these years i am still in love with this show so universal, whomever owns XWP get your backsides into gear and give me, us, the fans what we crave for, what we need. These 2 are my heroes. I adore them.
That was DEFINITELY a "My flesh longs for your touch" kind of kiss Xena gave Gabrielle.

I don’t know if it was jealousy because xena is mature and not fragile, she just sad they are parting ways and having different lives, Gabrielle is a wife now, probably will have kids (what people did back then) and she won’t be travelling with her, she just had sadness
They were so into each other that it hurt to see them part.

The way I see it, is in the first and second seasons they were still trying to find themselves, and that is how I explain the random men of infatuation that would appear here and there lol. Xena probably thinking Gabrielle was too pure for her, and Gabrielle being young and naive still so they explored other options though secretly had it big time for each other. Actually the entire show Gabrielle grew and morphed with many changes. Part of that journey of exploration for Gabrielle was marrying Perdicus. Had Callisto not killed him, I still think it wouldn't have lasted. She would have missed Xena, craved to be with her again, probably would have thanked Perdicus for helping her evolve toward her true destiny with Xena and parted amicably.
Well, I think that the love that they had for those people were still true and genuine. Whither be it Gabrielle and Perdicus or Xena and Marcus. What they felt for these men was definitely love and not infatuation but I definitely think that their Destiny lies with eachother and that destiny unfolded like it should have

@@fuzzyx2face I don’t know how long it’s been since you’ve seen the show but they aren’t straight. It was canon on the show that Xena and gabby were soulmates and were meant to together. It become canon in season 6. It also became canon that Xena had akemi as a lover in flash back scenes in season 6. Gabby even said they were meant to be together in show

Awww they cut off the Goodbye Gabrielle at the end. I think its a very heartfelt moment because she just said they weren't saying goodbye but she knew things had changed... That goodbye was like thank you my friend mixt with back at being alone again....
She wasn't going to visit, it would have been too hard, so she was really saying goodbye for good.

Ah, I just rewatched this episode yesterday. Any episode with Callisto ranks in my favorite! Even though she is such an evil psychopath, Callisto is my favorite enemy for Xena. And Hudson Lieck is a beautiful woman. She is also the closest physical match to Xena. Xena could easily beat Caesar, Mavican, Velasca, even Alti in a fight, but Callisto pushed her to her limit every time it was a fair fight. Well, I'm off to The Quest with Autolycus!
If you have the DVD, watch behind the scenes - when Lucy and Renee watch this, Lucy makes a comment about Xs reaction to G getting married..."She's jelly(jealous)!" X only wanting Gabrielle's happiness no matter the cost...when you are in love with someone...you do whatever is best for them... although I would have told Xena to Speak Up!! And tell Gabrielle how she felt... Gabrielle marrying Per bc she thinks Xena doesn't care for her that way??? Gabrielle would go to extremes just to get a reaction out of X...

@@BrianSmith-jx7td Lucy lawless has said Xena was gay. I think you’ll find it was the network demanding them to not make the show appear so gay. But by the end they had more freedom. They always killed the guy off by the end.
@@Louellastark I never understood why she said that. It's obvious that there were some romantic relationship that Xena had with men that she genuinely loved for good or for worst. Marcus being #1. That was a deep love they shared. Hercules, Cesar and even Borias wich was a destructive relationship but, some bits there at the end you see that she did care... She is definitely Bi. @@rs9111 I could like see them as lovers, but at the same time alot of people don't get that soul mates can be friends too. That's how I saw xena and gabby, they always seemed like best friends/soul mates
everyone has a different point of view , but writers also subtexted their relationship, like "Gabrielle, let's get wet" or "howard is mine, she's yours", the f musical, they wanted to make them a couple (not of besties) but in those times it was real hard with the amount of narrow minded people. Idk know calling them big little sistes, more like really close friends
