You know, for the longest time I've watched movies only because Michael Shannon was in them. Today I realized I had never seen an interview with this guy and I wondered what he was like. What a pleasant surprise!
I like how Jessica Chastain is always expecting to laugh at what Michael Shannon is saying (because she knows how funny he is. In 'real life') while I am always expecting him to kill someone (because he is so intense. And mumbling). (Also I saw 'iceman' recently). The interview is awesome: you have the stunning actress nerd (with the binder full of notes), the very concerned director that seems to pass by all the levity and fun and lives for the story and the funny intense upsetting goofball. Such a lovely bunch! After a while I stopped seeing Michael Shannon as brooding and 'stark raving' (as his roles usually are), but as Jessica Chastain is seeing him. Amazing experience. Anyway, there is a movie right around that funny bunch. Thanks David, you rocked.
When Michael Shannon is listeaning to others he keeps rubbing his hands and, it seems to me, waits for an occasion to crack a line. He really seems to be waiting for the moment, and if it lands (it always does), he automatically reaches for the glass of water like "Good job Michael, good job.". Or maybe it is just me.
One of the most underrated movies ever. Good story line, good acting, quiet music, everything was good. Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain are really great actors and Jeff Nichols is a really good director.
@Étienne Boulerice people in US online often insist on conflating the words "underrated" with "overlooked." Overlooked and underviewed are more accurate. But folks don't usually think a second thought about definitions online.
I think you might have my dream job, I'd love to have these kinda chats with film stars and directors (because that's what they are rather than straight interviews). And this is the most enjoyable I've watched, massively respect these three. Chastain and Shannon are great actors and seem really nice, interesting and hilarious and Jeff is just a fascinating director. I wonder if his role from Mud came about cos of this chat ;)
See this film. It actually has characters that are more than 2 dimensions. This writer/director’s film Midnight Special lead to this film. Both are so well done. Real depth. Bravo
30:41 "Oh wait, im not supposed to say whether i could fly or not! Ok, i give up..(headdesk)..You tricked me, you tricky!" Too fucking cute, Michael...
Is it the camera angle or is Michael Shannon 13ft tall and 4ft wide? Actually, the trompe l'oeuil effect probably stems from my overwhelming desire to climb him.
The end of Take Shelter, the scene is intended to be real. Not a dream. My reasoning is that all the other visions of the storms begin with the storm. The last scene ends with it. The other thing is, the visions all make sense through being bought together in the last scene. Plus, the girl sees it first. Not Curtis. It's real. Not a dream. There are other reasons but those are the main ones
Ohhhh french🙄🤦🏼♂️...well thank you UA-cam for providing with yet again...another reason to be jealous or feel envious. It’s always a pleasure...I should’ve woken up years ago and got my ass out there so I could one day be on the other end of this sorta video...I uhhh...I sorta ran outa excuses a long time ago
This movie was good but I didn't like the ending. It felt like the original ending (spoiler alert) was when they come out of the shelter after the storm. But it didn't test well so they tacked on a new ending. Even if that's not the case, that's the way it felt to me.
Wait. So you prefer the original ending too???? Cause SO DO I. Try to reply cause I want to talk about it. I also believe that the film should have ended a few takes ago. It makes BY FAR the most sense logically. The movie is a complex look into mental health. Ending like that manipulate stupid people into thinking it's "something else."
Shame on you for not being able to let your own thoughts conjure up the meaning of the ending. Stop spamming your copy and pasted disapproval over and over on videos for a film that is pretty darn good.
"Prison"....LMFAO.....
MIchael Shannon looks like he is an absolute blast to drink a beer with. Hilarious dude.
Jessica Chastain is the epitome of elegance and perfection.
Someone please put Michael Shannon in a romantic comedy with Jessica Chastain.
+CeeArr Inc. Yess I would actually prefer a romantic indie film either way something needs to happen!
YAASSS
No just no
George & Tammy!
jeff nichols is so shy and adorable
Michael Shannon is freaking hilarious, Chastain is awesome, this is such an awesome interview.

LMAO you just know that's what's going on in his head
Michael Shannon so handsome and funny and of course he is great actor.
Chastain is in love with Shannon.
They're really down to earth. Which is nice for 3 people with so, so much talent.

92% on rotten tomatoes how is it underrated ?

Damn, Michael Shannon is funny!!!
Have you ever seen the way he dresses? He’s amazing.
Jessica Chastain is so fucking gorgeous
You can see Jessica Chastain pushing down random laughs just because she's looking at Shannon. This is really joyful.
Michael McDonald no greater thrill this. Making a beautiful woman laugh.
She seems very fond if him.
Jeff Nicols is such a fantastic writer/director. I have loved every movie he's created.
See, Mr. Shannon is exactly who I would be after making it to the silver screen.
Always be humble. Always be funny. Always pay it forward.
Michael Shannon is awesome, but Jessica Chastain is so beautiful.
Why can't I hold all this chemistry?
What a gorgeous woman!
They are all really attractive!
Everytime they took Jessica out of the shot I was like Cleveland going, "No no no no nooooo"
Michael Shannon is so awesome. Take Shelter is amazing
Never really thought about chastain until i saw this movie. Fucking loved her performance.
"I'm going to defend the egg thing..." haha!
Jessica Chastain Is So Beautiful
Take Shelter was superb.
Jessica is so beautiful
Can you @#$%ing imagine Michael Shannon doing improv?

See this film. It actually has characters that are more than 2 dimensions. This writer/director’s film Midnight Special lead to this film. Both are so well done. Real depth. Bravo
i didnt expect their synergy(including the director) to be this high.
Michael Shannon is so funny!!
14:34 Jeff mouthing "balls" is so funny xD He seems such a genuinely nice guy
Michael Shannon is a jokester lol

Zod's got game.
He has dead pan humor, everything he says is funny.

" what's he doing, is he going in , is he coming out? " and away you go writers!
Is it the camera angle or is Michael Shannon 13ft tall and 4ft wide? Actually, the trompe l'oeuil effect probably stems from my overwhelming desire to climb him.

j.c. looks delicious, as always. red hair is my weakness.
Two Nichols rubbing together? Sounds like a great idea for a movie!
The end of Take Shelter, the scene is intended to be real. Not a dream. My reasoning is that all the other visions of the storms begin with the storm. The last scene ends with it. You are plain wrong then!!!!
Excellent Movie Jeff... Representing the Natural State. Woo Pig.
Does Mike look huge here? I know he's around 6'3" but ...
Ohhhh french🙄🤦🏼♂️...well thank you UA-cam for providing with yet again...another reason to be jealous or feel envious. Jeff Nichols looks like a less criminally insane Max Scherzer
Jessica is a mixture of Eve Marie Saint and Lisa Simpson
Zod's such a goofball
It's not the script it's the editors who save your ass.
20:59
Great performances in the film, but it falls apart because it suggests that if someone really tries, they can simply choose not to be mentally ill.
Old as the footage lol
He sounds nothing like Ben Nichols

Great movie. She lost me at vegan.
