I don't understand all the hate. Yeah, this iteration of Gaia sounds a bit cold and VERY digital, but it's a 100% digital synth, what do you expect? There are perfect analogies: JD-800, Prophecy, Z1, to name a few, all were sounding rather dull from the factory, but in the right hands they really shone. It takes a great programmer like Liam Howlett or a great player like Jordan Rudess (or preferably both) to make an instrument truly sing, and Jexus here does just the thing: he opens up the true nature of the synth. Cold and digital maybe, but it definitely has its place in music: industrial, EBM, avant-garde, movie and theater and so on. I personally find this machine very interesting and resourceful in its own way.
I think experienced synth tweakers and forum nerds may not like this synth that much, but I bet beginners and live performers will find a lot of reasons to love it.
Having so much fun with these presets, Jexus--they are meant to be PLAYED. Also, the "thoughts & Info" link has one of the most honest reviews of the Gaia 2 out there.

@@Jexus true bro! as usual manufacturer did no favors trying to create most abrasive presets to impress the masses, and we got to work hard to find the hidden gems!
22 voices and even without a panspread ? yes it digital synth don't expect it to be a prophet 5 . but there is a bunch of digital synths that sound more better : Hydra , Cobalt 8 , Argon 8 . Gaia 2 has very good layout , but who cares if it dont sound good
Yeah there should be a pan spread right there top of the panel. However, I would not say "Hydra sounds better", at least without the proviso that it sounds better only after we spend a lot of time getting there in the mod matrix. Gaia-2 will never sound as nuanced or intriguing as Hydra, but it will sound "nice" / "decent" much quicker thanks to the amazing UI.
@@SebastianSnoeck Jexus squeeze maximum of it, but personally for me it's still no to buy ;) But to be honest 95% of hardware synths since like 10 years are not worth to buy (also vsts lol).
Thanks! I would actually be ok if they released the synth with the lower (current) price instead of slashing it by 20% just months after the premiere! Always feel like an idiot when I buy a new synth too early;)
@@Jexus MAybe they realised it was up against hydrasynth , being cheaper and far faaaaar more versatile than this. Sounds nice though. Certainly better than the first, i had one. Somebody stole it off me by scamming me on ebay. Was pretty annoying
Yes, thanks! I used to make very quick transitions between patches and if you didn't like it, there was nothing you could do about it. However, in this kind of video with longer pauses you can always fast forward to the next sound. Click the ">" sign next to the video timer and jump to the next chapter / sound you want:)

Thanks Matt! Glad you're finding the presets useful:)
I think it sounds great. I’m tempted to get one. I’ll use analog synths for big analog sounds, this will be great for broken dystopian stuff.

The Gaia-2 sounds bad at the very beginning and with certain types of sounds, but I think in this video it sounds pretty cool (auto-flatter mode;)

🙏 Thanks and Praise to the inspirational JEXUS.
Babble Babble. Nice. Great synth line.
You're Jexus though, can make anything sound good. I challenge you to make the SH-201 or the original Gaia sound good 👍
had the gaia 1. tried. sold it quick 😅

Not possible for Jexus to make a bad sound-but we are mere mortals 🙌
ha ha thanks, but when I play my synths for too long I too realize I am a mortal ;P my butt starts to hurt!

It has spread in the settings i think
Doesn't change my mind. Gaia 2 sounds like mediocre vst.
i did not know this synth but yes i thought there where better vst3 then this hardwarre synth

Still a very mediocre synth but good effort.
No such thing as a mediocre synth . Only mediocre player 😂
@@Radvapordeath different strokes for different folks but I have owned about 200 synths and have met many mediocre ones. Some brands specialize in it.
Agree… sounds pretty flat and lifeless to me
Cool!
Would you allow a constructive criticism?
There are too many breaks between patches!
