Quite a number of short range drones can be packed into a (reusable) cruise missile which disperses drones over a target and returns to home base for refuelling and rearmament. Delivery of kamikazi drones within range is not an issue. Detecting them and shooting them down is the biggest issue.

It's taken way too long to roll out the prototype of both MK1A and MK2. These are largely incremental developments, yet they have taken as long as a new aircraft design. HAL is too slow.
I have nothing against GoI but we have to seriously consider this idea that lot of our plans are all in conceptual phase with no idea of when the production starts, how much indigienization is possible and what would be the rate of production. We need to involve. more and more MSME private sector, it may have effect on cost but it will meet our security requirement rate of production.

Also the supply chain for the Su-30MKI has been slowly built in India giving some measure of security. Do not throw all that away for half baked prototype Su-57 which even Russian AF is reluctant to induct.

And we must be ready tp expect irregular and delayed deliveries rivaling the Rafale delays.

Despite great expense and efforts, the Su-30MKI is still only 51% produced in India from the supply chain ⛓️ perspective. Focus on that rather than taking on a new headache like Su-57.

If we place decent order volumes, Russia will get it manufactured in India itself, they also stand to benefit from such production facility.

F35 is a white elephant.
Integration of Indigenous weapons like Astra and Brahmos will not be allowed with F35, also no modification will be allowed by Americans as per Indian requirement.
Su-57 is literally behind in performance compared to the upgraded Su-30MKI which India has.
Also Su-57 is a prototype that will need at least 7 more years to work out its bugs.
Russia wants India to buy it and pay for fixing all these problems and developing the aircraft to combat ready status.
But that is a huge waste of money.
Nor is the aircraft even stealthy.
India is better off focusing its limited funds on Kaveri 2, TEDBF, ORCA (with 2 x Kaveri 1) and AMCA.
Keep producing and upgrading the Su-30MKI fleet.
Despite great expense and efforts, the Su-30MKI is still only 51% produced in India from the supply chain ⛓️ perspective. Focus on that rather than taking on a new headache like Su-57.
@@mtrest4 - you have some pretty neat points which need to be scrutinised vis a vis procuring another foreign designed airframe. Su30 mki as per “new IAF requirements” is always my first choice, though sometimes not losing old partners helps too.

The Su-57 is neither a true stealth fighter nor anywhere close to mass production.
Even if India signs the deal for the Su-57 today, it’ll still have to wait patiently behind Russia and Algeria in the delivery queue.
And, of course, let’s not forget the delightful bonus of CAATSA sanctions that’ll come gift-wrapped with the purchase. Nothing like waiting decades for an “unstealthy” jet while getting slapped with sanctions to sweeten the deal! 😊😊😊😊😂😂
