    Could you do "Breakout basics for forwards" or something like that? I have trouble making plays in the start of an attack out of our end.

    What could I be doing wrong when my shot constantly is fluttering instead of a saucer?

    • @CipherSerpico
      @CipherSerpico 8 років тому +3

      If the puck is fluttering - it's usually caused by one/or both of these reasons:
      1. You're shooting the puck from the toe (rather than the Heel/Middle of the blade...
      (and/or)
      2. You're keeping the blade TOO 'open' when you shoot.
      First, try to make sure that when you shoot - that the puck starts closer to the Middle/Heel of the blade. A snapshot is actually the ONE type of shot where you can shoot with the mid-to-latter half of the blade; but if your shots are always fluttering, then you probably need to try having the puck a little closer to the heel. I like to use the middle/mid-toe of the blade for snapshots so that I get a quicker release.
      Secondly, if that doesn't work -- try closing the blade a little bit more when you shoot, by slightly rolling your top hand forward. That will help cradle the puck so that it comes off your blade evenly--which will stop it from fluttering.

    Hi, I'd like to ask you a question. I have a hard time figuring out the difference between the wrist shot and the snap shot.
    Can someone give me some pointers ? I have the isnipe app to work with.
    Thanks

    Good Video, Jeremy. I love that Melrose was saying that that is the wrong way to shoot. I think it is important to learn to shoot from the other weight transfer position initially, for really young kids, but as they master that, the technique you talk about in this video is a great skill to develop. Good shooters can shoot off of either foot, in balance and out of balance. As a goalie, it is a much tougher shot to read and definitely means a quicker release. With that quicker release, good technique for power and accuracy, make that shot very effective. It also reminds me of a short stop throwing off of the "wrong" foot when making the throw to first after catching a ball on the third-base side of the puck. The body mechanics/ physics in each of these two plays work for the shooter/thrower in similar ways.

    A very good lesson, but still do slow motion video.
    For what would be good to see the throwing techniques.

    • @CoachJeremy
      @CoachJeremy  9 років тому

      Hey Max,, I did a playlist on the building blocks of a good shot. I have a slow mo shot in a few of the videos. The 2nd video has a quick slow mo shot of this shot to demonstrate the pull / push motion. ua-cam.com/video/9lx7LW1gUeE/v-deo.html
      For some really good slow motion you can look up "slow mo Monday" the NHL has some good slow mo examples
