imagine the story of someone too uninteresting for heaven or hell, but instead of being sent to purgatory he was just trapped in hell on accident with demons who refused to torture a soul who had done nothing wrong, and the story just features the characters exploration of the inner workings of the afterlife
If I'm reading right the song is more about someone who only acts superficially good in order to get rewarded with Heaven, without ever going through any significant self reflection in his life ("Avoiding all the little things that were hard to ask"), it's even implied through the song that he didn't care at all about the people who he left alone when he died, instead just excited for Heaven, and as such was assigned to a kind of ironic Hell, one that tempts him with the promise of Heaven

Ye, but in Charlie’s case he did everything superficially emphasis on never doing more than he needed but he thought he was a saint. He even skipped out on the dingy elevator that could have saved him In hell instead opting for the gate because he though himself better.

Despite this being made a few years ago, I really admire the style, expressions and the animatic overall. The designs are are quite fitting for each character, especially the main character. A nice work of art!

The way I see it is that Charlie was so basic he went to hell. And the Devil, loving a good chase, put him in a constant loop in hell for the rest of time.

In all honesty it sounds like a literal nightmare, a saint for all his life only to be sent to the world of sinners
He only did good things to get to heaven not out of the good of his heart, so he only did the bare minimum and is selfish. If you are a true saint you will do good things regardless of if it benefits you because otherwise you're just selfish and not a good person
