I will be hearing their songs till I end up in life. I love them so much even all their songs. Whenever I play their songs, I will feel more comfortable.
They all had; that's what made them such a strong and complementary trio. But Bob was a greater songwriter and more charismatic performer, while Bunny had the best singing voice.
They were outgrowing each other and neither Peter nor Bunny was as driven as Bob was. The break-up freed up Bob to soar to soar to the highest heights.
I thank you for your opinion on the Wailers breakup. I will however despute many of your opinions. I knew all three (Bunny, Bob, and Peter) and as a young boy lived in Kingston, Jamaica when they roamed Trench town singing with Peter Tosh playing guitar. Complaints to my late father, Roy White(president Of The Jamaican Musician's Union) for Byron Lee's interference with Bob and Peter working on songs for Johnny Nash, among other things. It's over fifty years but I'm still alive and much of what you referred is only half truths and non sense. Lee Perry did rob them from the (music) albums they made with him(correct) Bob, Peter, and Bunny still rehearsed together long after their so called breakup. (After the Catch A Fire and Burning albums and even after Bob Marley and The Wailers 'Natty Dread album, they still performed together- National Stadium(with Third World and The Jacksons)among other places. I could go on and on, however I believe all four participants were to blame for the break up. Briefly Chris Blackwell for pushing and promoting Bob, over the other two. Bunny for his reluctance in flying on a plane and touring overseas. Peter for feeling slighted and not sticking with the Wailers over the advancements in his own career. And most importantly Bob for not trying harder to hold the original Wailers together. R.I.P. Peter Tosh, Bob Marley, and Neville Livingston.

I don't care about what books say. There are plenty of interviews with bunny wailer telling exactly what happened. The fact is that Chris Blackwell wanted to start expanding The Wailers audience as a black rock group. And scheduled tours where they would be performing in nightclubs and so on. Bunny wailer did not initiate any breakup, but chose to leave the group himself. Because he did not want to be exposed to that sort of life, drinking, sex, and so on.

I adore all three of them but it's undeniable Bob has many more hit songs than Peter and Bunny combined. In my opinion, the debate is around musical output, not skin tone. Bob Marley was not as articulate as Peter Tosh, not even nearly. People who never lived in Jamaica during those years will never understand the phenomena of these three musicians. Bob is no greater than either of the other two in no way whatsoever. Bunny Wailer has produced three albums which can easily be claimed the best ever Reggae album ever, "Blackheart Man," "Rock & Groove" & "Liberation." That breakup was the best thing that could have happened for all three of them because they were able to express themselves in their individual way. Peter Tosh was the first artiste anywhere in the world to tackle the issue of apartheid in song with the track aptly entitled "Apartheid" on the "Equal Rights" album, another album which could be the bwst Reggaealbum ever produced. The Wailers wete not meant to stay together but the music each of them gave us since will continue to uolift souls all over the world. Well, "Blackheart man" is definitely ONE of the best reggae albums ever (which can also be said by several BMW records, by the way), but it remains a single shot that Bunny never managed to equal afterwards (although "Rock'n'Groove" is pretty good too, though not ground-breaking). And there definitely were several artists before Tosh who wrote anti-apartheid songs, so probably you should do some reading on the subject in order to get your facts straight... (instead, Tosh' "Apartheid" song was indeed the first one to use the word 'apartheid' in its title, whereas mainly South African artists, facing state oppression and censorship, had to pronounce themselves in more subtle ways)...

You don't have clue, do you? All three Wailers went to Joe Higgs to improve thir singing/harmony skills, but that was in the early 1960's, not in 1973. And in 1970, it was Lee Perry who first suggested Tosh should pursue a solo career, even pitching him to other producers (like Joe Gibbs), because he wanted to concentrate on Marley's music (as he already saw Bob as the natural leader of the group, for being the most prolific and talented songwriter).

I will however despute many of your opinions.
I knew all three (Bunny, Bob, and Peter) and as a young boy lived in Kingston, Jamaica when they roamed Trench town singing with Peter Tosh playing guitar. Complaints to my late father, Roy White(president Of The Jamaican Musician's Union) for Byron Lee's interference with Bob and Peter working on songs for Johnny Nash, among other things.
It's over fifty years but I'm still alive and much of what you referred is only half truths and non sense.
Lee Perry did rob them from the (music) albums they made with him(correct)
Bob, Peter, and Bunny still rehearsed together long after their so called breakup.
(After the Catch A Fire and Burning albums and even after Bob Marley and The Wailers 'Natty Dread album, they still performed together- National Stadium(with Third World and The Jacksons)among other places.
I could go on and on, however I believe all four participants were to blame for the break up.
Briefly Chris Blackwell for pushing and promoting Bob, over the other two.
Bunny for his reluctance in flying on a plane and touring overseas.
Peter for feeling slighted and not sticking with the Wailers over the advancements in his own career.
And most importantly Bob for not trying harder to hold the original Wailers together.

I don't care about what books say. There are plenty of interviews with bunny wailer telling exactly what happened. The fact is that Chris Blackwell wanted to start expanding The Wailers audience as a black rock group. And scheduled tours where they would be performing in nightclubs and so on. Bunny wailer did not initiate any breakup, but chose to leave the group himself. Because he did not want to be exposed to that sort of life, drinking, sex, and so on.
There should be lessons in securing artists intellectual properties. Almost all of them have complained of the same things…but the next generation keeps on doing the same things, then complain about it later on. Secure your generational wealth. Anyway, Peter TOSH is my revolutionary choice.

No sorry. If you read different first hand accounts of what happened - no one was pushed aside. Peter Tosh signed with Rolling Stones label. He had every opportunity for the same succes Bob had. Bunny, on the other hand, didn't like to fly and didn't enjoy touring.

Bob Marley was not as articulate as Peter Tosh, not even nearly. People who never lived in Jamaica during those years will never understand the phenomena of these three musicians. Bob is no greater than either of the other two in no way whatsoever. Bunny Wailer has produced three albums which can easily be claimed the best ever Reggae album ever, "Blackheart Man," "Rock & Groove" & "Liberation." That breakup was the best thing that could have happened for all three of them because they were able to express themselves in their individual way. Peter Tosh was the first artiste anywhere in the world to tackle the issue of apartheid in song with the track aptly entitled "Apartheid" on the "Equal Rights" album, another album which could be the bwst Reggaealbum ever produced. The Wailers wete not meant to stay together but the music each of them gave us since will continue to uolift souls all over the world. We should never forget that there were also Beverly Kelso & Junior Brathwaite, those names never seem to be mentioned in any discourse re The Wailers.

Well, "Blackheart man" is definitely ONE of the best reggae albums ever (which can also be said by several BMW records, by the way), but it remains a single shot that Bunny never managed to equal afterwards (although "Rock'n'Groove" is pretty good too, though not ground-breaking). And there definitely were several artists before Tosh who wrote anti-apartheid songs, so probably you should do some reading on the subject in order to get your facts straight... (instead, Tosh' "Apartheid" song was indeed the first one to use the word 'apartheid' in its title, whereas mainly South African artists, facing state oppression and censorship, had to pronounce themselves in more subtle ways)...

You don't have clue, do you? All three Wailers went to Joe Higgs to improve thir singing/harmony skills, but that was in the early 1960's, not in 1973. And in 1970, it was Lee Perry who first suggested Tosh should pursue a solo career, even pitching him to other producers (like Joe Gibbs), because he wanted to concentrate on Marley's music (as he already saw Bob as the natural leader of the group, for being the most prolific and talented songwriter).
A few years ago I reed an article online in a Jewish magazine "Tablet Weekener" the story was about the fact that certain Jews were trying to claim Bob Marley as their own as his father was a Syrian Jew. This lead me to look into the matter and I also discovered that Criss Blackwell's mother was a Spanish Jew.
