Your look soo wicked !! I buy leather n make my own I always glue hairy side down then i resand the smooth side with 80 grit take compound good .

Same as you using sandpaper, to remove burrs I run it through a cork from a bottle of wine or whiskey only once it usually does the trick.

I used that harbor freight green compound about 5 years ago and it ain't half bad, really works good for polishing knife handles cause it's very waxy. Imma have to get me a strop from ya one of these days
