My thought's on McNair's behavior is while it may be contrary to his goals when Voldy is in play, disposing of dangerous animals may be they only way he can fill desire to kill (he is a Death Eater, I'm guessing he has a few screws loose), without raising much attention. So with that assumption, his outburst after Buckbeak escapes would be frustration that he can't do the one thing that keeps him somewhat satisficed (without getting himself a 1 way ticket to join his cohorts)
QUESTION! What would’ve happened if Voldemort was apprehended and condemned to Dementor’s kiss? Do the dementors get a sliver of his soul and the remaining are safe in the horcruxes? Or after the kiss, that dementor will go on and search to consume the rest of the soul, AKA become a horcrux searcher, with the intention of fully consuming the soul? Do dementors care about the wholesomeness of soul to consume or is it just like pieces of chips they gobble and it doesn’t matter?
I think that the force of an unclouded full moon might be enough to overpower even Wolfsbane. That would explain why Lupin would take the extra precaution to hide indoors during that time of the month. I'm a long time watcher and love your show and podcast. Keep those theories coming!
32:20 I always assumed there was a distinct difference to werewolf behavior around humans and around animals. as in, Lupin will act normal around animals, but he will attack humans. the reason why Sirius has such a hard time to stop Lupin is because there are 5 humans around in close proximity, rather than the normal situation of 3 animals and maybe humans in the distance

when they are talking about snape not knowing why the dementors fled from harry and hermione, and him not taking credit for it by saying he cast a patronus... isn't snape still working as a double agent for the death eaters and thus is likely claiming that he doesn't know why the dementors fled because he doesn't want any of the death eaters to know that he can cast a patronus
I wondered if the reason that Lupin didn't transform into a werewolf again is to do with the Walfsbane potion. The potion is a new treatment it could be that it has been developed and maybe it has more effect, perhaps Lupin now takes it all the time. A bit like taking medication in the Muggle world.
They need to add the video for chapter 19 into the Supercut playlist so that it's between the previous video and this one so people who are watching the playlist don't have to leave the playlist to go watch that video. it's so sad to think of Lupin having to take wolfsbane for a whole week, every month. cuz it means he can't have any chocolate for 1/4 of the time, since sugar weakens the potion's effect
I read it as sugar would just spoil the potion as in it couldn’t be added to the ingredients to make it taste better, not that you couldn’t have sugar in your body for the potion to work.
The idea of Death being a dementor makes sense when comparing to the Supernatural series. In that there are reapers, mindless soldiers of Death, that collect majority of souls. Then there's THE Reaper, who is more like upper management and only handles certain cases... And finally, there's Death, the near all powerful entity who compares humans to an amoeba. And as anyone who's watched the show, Death has personality, aplenty. Granted this Death is based on the biblical horseman.
If they killed Peter, they still could have brought his body to the castle as proof that he had been alive. They could have said he was killed in self defense with witnesses.
Sounds like death figured out the ultimate “life” hack, so to speak. Wait until the human’s bodies give out due to sickness or injury (and the container for their soul naturally fails) and then swoop in for easy soul slurping. In this sense he might not actually be killing people, bc physical death occurs naturally. He may just be taking advantage of the situation (or helping people cross over, depending on what happens to the souls after they’re consumed).
Also it’s not just the last living descendant of one brother but actually 2 since voldemorts soul is there as well so death notices both of them not just one
