It's awesome to see a bigger youtube artist using their phone to film! Gives me hope that I can grow without having to invest too much into equipment too!
A mere "thank you" can't possibly be enough to send you the gratitude I feel for sharing these useful tips. Most times, this is what's stopping others from starting an art channel, so thank you so much for giving tips. I wish you well, millions of views and subcribers. And may your channel never be demonetized. Hugs!!!
Okay I rarely ever comment but I had to say the colored paper for different backgrounds is genius! It never crossed my mind to question how you always had different colors for your background. It’s such a cheap and creative thing that anyone can do! Thank you so much for these tips you’re very resourceful and it actually really shows that you don’t need a bunch of fancy equipment to film videos or even photograph your art 💛✨
Right??!!! Its big brain no cap o3o. In the video, she said the paper was Bristol paper but i could really find it on amazon so maybe if you find something similar, can you please let me know.. i thought of construction paper but i want that smooth look the paper she has.
destiny -ochoa ive hunted as well for months, Also looking into pastel and matte wrapping paper to jiggy rig it lol Edit- FINALLY FOUND : blick sells single sheets of Pacon railroad board (22”x28”) in a very large size and many many colors, as well as Blick premium cardstock in 18”x24” Hope this helps!
Wow - What great timing for me! I JUST enrolled in a udemy course showing me how to make better video through editing! thanks for all the tips that I can apply to myself! I am a new subscriber - looking forward to more from you!
Overhead shots are so tricky! I always have an issue with my hands and arms casting too much shadow onto what I’m filming. 😓 But I think it’s because I need better lights. Oh! If you ever need a weight to help stabilize your tripod, check out Manfrotto counterweights! We use them sometimes at freelance gigs to keep a tripod or stand steady; they clip really easily onto most things. 👍
Ah thank you for sharing this! It is so reassuring to see that you dont really need all this fancy shmancy equipment, you just gotta be resourceful! I was genuinely impressed by how you totally macgyvered your set up.
Loved it! I'm planning on doing one of these videos, for some reason so many people are interested in filming and editing of this. It'll be hard for me to film as well bc I film on my bed with a music stand as a tripod haha 💖😂
This is really insightful, I always want to assume that artists who get really nice even lighting and vivid colours might have some sort of intricate fancy overhead rig frame set up. Makes me feel a little bit more confident about the fact that the times I have filmed has been on my phone using a selfie stick balanced in a beer stein weighted down with brush cleaning wipes. (I mean ... not much, because I still get beer stein quality ... but a little. XD) Always love the little extra accents!
I’m not sure how I got to this point because I haven’t really thought about it, but you and pypah’s art are my favorite UA-camrs. I just really enjoy your videos unconsciously and I haven’t felt this way about any other channels without losing interest. You’re great.
this is actually so cool, i knew you put effort but i didnt think it would be that much!! even standing up for your livestreams to paint like thats such dedication wow
4k is generally over-kill for youtube. 1920x1080 is almost always enough. frame rate doesn't matter as long as it's above 24fps and you are not shooting interlaced video (720i or1080i for example).
This is so helpful! When you started with the disclaimer I was waiting for you to say it was very expensive, so I'm so, so glad you decided to film this video and show how your workstation works. I just can't justify putting a lot of money into an expensive setup before I know I wanna go ham or not, so thank you so much for this! We definitely need more solutions like this rather than just " buy the most expensive and best equipment" hahah
ahahaha that set up reminds me of all the things I had to do for photography assignments before I got a tripod. I swear when you're broke you learn to finesse anything, at least for me lol. I love your set up too, it really works for your videos! I'll definitely check into that tripod with the extension.
This is a great video! It's really comforting to know that other you tubers also exclusively use their phone to film! If you're looking for a good overhead filming rig though, there's this product called the Canvas Lamp that I use that makes it really easy to film! It essentially does the same thing as your tripod/camera arm/cardboard tube does but has a ring light built into it and isn't shaky!
Girl , cant appreciate enough you painting for such long hours standing, kudos to you.... I find placing the tripod extremely difficult to change my camera position... Thanks for this video, I now know I am not the only one strggling with the camera setup all the time.
This video is super helpful!! I also use my phone, and I was scared to post because of it. After watching this I have the confidence to post videos and hope to do so soon! Tysm! 💓
Looking at you and your art makes me so happy♡´・ᴗ・`♡ You are an amazing, smart, talented, hardworking artist!and you are so beautiful every time I look at you my eyes are blessed
Thanks so much for sharing your process! it's really great to see how you've grown into your channel and how honest your. are with your "becoming an artist full time" it's so inspirational
After a lot of research, I bought a camera holder but still, it ended up not working like I wanted to for recording my art, I'm definitely buying the one you linked, THANK YOU 🧡
i really enjoy you and Christina Lorres art, maybe cause i feel if both your art styles were combined it would be so cute. i take so much inspiration from you and wish you the best in life
Thank you so much for this video! This makes me feel good that I do not need to spend alot of money on gadgets to vlog. I'm also using my phone when I'm filming! 🙏 Now I just need to buy a cheap microphone to do voice overs 😆
Janky set up or no, I was always struck by how vivid and beautiful your videos look. It was nice to get a peek behind the curtain. Actually, I'd say jankey set ups are just another way to get creative on a budget 🤔💜
This is amazing!!! It not the most professional setup, but come on. With making creative work there's nothing wrong with using that creativity to macgyver a few tools to help present your already amazing talent.
My set up is literally a desk light with a flat beam for the light part that I angle at 90 degrees and balance my phone on it so it's a good top down view! It does the trick for now! I'm so happy you shared your setup because its amazing to see the artists I look up to being creative with their set up as well! Love your content and I'm excited to see you grow and grow! (:
your phonecover is absolutely adorable. Too bad that my phone is horrible to film anything, so I bought myself an action cam. I still have to figure out how to adjust the angle in post production.
This is SO useful. I have a photography account on IG but a side art acct for fun. I always tried to figure out how to capture my sketches best in a square format. Seeing this video really inspired me! Thank you :-)
with having the camera looking down 90degrees - how do you draw at a angle on the desk without it distorting your artwork? . my desk is a bit low so id have to stand up :/
i had never noticed your watermark then you said you put a very subtle one and I was like whaaaaat, so i went to you instagram to check it and I'm shocked I had never noticed
It's awesome to see a bigger youtube artist using their phone to film! Gives me hope that I can grow without having to invest too much into equipment too!
I too make my art videos with my phone but only the lighting is the problem and there is no need of DSLR even for big UA-camrs
This is so relatable, trying to get an overhead shot is hard. You shared some really good advice, thanks :)

This was honestly so helpful. I've been trying to find some simple backgrounds for ig and my shop. Thank you so much.
this is super insightful and I actually love that it isnt "professional," it's realistic and encouraging to people so thank you for showing this!
Ah thank you for sharing this! It is so reassuring to see that you dont really need all this fancy shmancy equipment, you just gotta be resourceful! I was genuinely impressed by how you totally macgyvered your set up.
I feel better about tacking down my drawings with kneaded eraser now that I know I’m not the only one doing it lol
As a Instagram and UA-cam artist that is looking for other, easier methods, this video is so helpful
From a small UA-camr, trying to figure out how to shoot my videos and photograph my art this is super useful info!!
Loved it! I'm planning on doing one of these videos, for some reason so many people are interested in filming and editing of this. It'll be hard for me to film as well bc I film on my bed with a music stand as a tripod haha 💖😂
The shoelace trick is so easy yet I would have never thought about it. Thank you.

TBHHH i love her :(
Ikr? I kinda mistake two of them as the same person sometimes.
She's back!The queen is back!
Amazing as always and informative also♡
Lots of love from the philippines queen!♡
this is actually so cool, i knew you put effort but i didnt think it would be that much!! even standing up for your livestreams to paint like thats such dedication wow
Thank you for this video! Quick question, what setting do you record videos in? ex. 4k at 60fps, 1080p HD at 60fps, etc?

I've been wanting one of these types of videos from you 🥺
This was very helpful + it's great to show that you don't need super pro and expensive equipment to make good content. Thanks a lot!!

Very intresting to watch your video making process. I like it very much

This is gonna be helpful for my art channel 💗
here! love the vids
your phonecover is absolutely adorable.
Too bad that my phone is horrible to film anything, so I bought myself an action cam.
I still have to figure out how to adjust the angle in post production.
love your phone case
The kneadable eraser hack is genius! Why have I never used that before?! I think you can use blue/white tack as well 💕
be careful with white/blue tack after a while it stains the paper(but should be fine for temporary use)
This is SO useful. I have a photography account on IG but a side art acct for fun. I always tried to figure out how to capture my sketches best in a square format. Seeing this video really inspired me! Thank you :-)
Thank you for this video ❤❤❤way very helpful
what is ur intsa account called? I LOVE UR ART!!
Why is your intro sounds like “Safiya Nygaard’s” intro
A tip for whomever: draw at an easel. It’s better for your arm & back, and you don’t need an overhead contraption 💪✨
Your phone case is ADORABLE!
Thanks so much for the information. I am just now starting my art channel and need a lot of help with improvement. Thanks for sharing! ❤
random question and sorry if it's been answered, but where'd you get the pencil cups?? especially the totoro one it's sooo cute ;-;
It's so useful, thank you💕
This is my first time watching your video, your painting is so niceeee!!
🌹🌹Nice video💖💖💖 wow amazing good video
Thank you so much for sharing this ❤️🙏❤️
Thanks for the tips, very helpful!
with having the camera looking down 90degrees - how do you draw at a angle on the desk without it distorting your artwork? . my desk is a bit low so id have to stand up :/
This is so janky but it’s like it works soo. I like that she’s so unashamed about this set up, bc I or anyone else would probably do this too.
i had never noticed your watermark then you said you put a very subtle one and I was like whaaaaat, so i went to you instagram to check it and I'm shocked I had never noticed
HI MOM
U made my day thanku so much for sharing it with us❤

Wonderfully resourceful setup. you're a great filmmaker!
Finally I can make MEMES
