Indian society gives shaadi as a ram baan ilaaj for all kinds of thingsin real life and even more so in tv and cinema. So many serials show mentally ill patients jinki dokhe se shaadi kara dete hain to the protagonist ladki of the serial cause "sab theek ho jaega". Aur shaadi ho jaaye tho have kids. It'll save the marriage. perfect example of "when you think it cant get worse than this, it does."

People were so judgemental for shaadi main zaror ana. Girl does not have a say in that situation. She did hardwork for what? To be blindsided by her husband and in laws by not letting her do job. Its very easy to say that she could have tell raj's character but she knew that she would not get anywhere by marrying him. They felt the HUMILIATION of raj but did not understood the problem of being a women.

One thing I would like to add... For the movie Shaadi mein zaroor aana... The male protagonist take revenge in a pre-planned way from the female protagonist for running away. The man proves himself as eligible to become a officer but only after getting rejected... And still he avenges his family's insult, his emotions' insult, too wrongfully. He didn't stop his family in case of dowry, he never dared to show her that liberty that she could state her wish to become officer. And the way his character is portrayed, I bet he would never become an officer or something like that if he would not get rejected. He became successful to destroy someone. 👏... 👏... 👏
Another thing... In SOTY... Shanaya never sorted things out with her boyfriend for openly cheating on him, and she also manipulated the friendship of those two boys (forgot thier names). And also Varun's character openly cheated with his gf and also flaunted her. 👏... 👏... 👏

'relax, it is just a movie' is not a very sensible point in my opinion because we watch movies and they definitely affect us all consciously or not, so there is nothing wrong with detailed media analysis! If media analysis was so unnecessary and trivial then there was no need to point out that 'it was just a movie ' !
Finally someone talked about "shaadi mein zaroor aana" in a way that I always felt about it.The male protagonist was projected in such a manner that he got hurt and then he sought to take revenge for his emotions and his family's so called insult by becoming an IAS officer but what about the female protagonist?
Nowhere her emotions or her family's insult were shown.The big issue was that the bride fled away but why she has to do this and why it was important,nothing was shown regarding that. Matlab ladkiya,unki dreams,izzat ,unki family,unki sapne sab jaaye bhaar mein but ladke ka family ,uski baat aa gayi toh bohot badi baat ho gayi.The male protagonist never took a stand for the girl he claimed to have loved.Then revenge theme ,kiska revenge hua kya hai you just got the taste of your own medicine bas hazaam nahi hua.India mein even after getting married hazaro mard aise hi dowry k chakkar mein pressure banane k liye they don't take their wife with them or threaten to never take them if not paid the dowry they are demanding.
Such an illogical misogynistic movie this was and the glorification of harassment, revenge,insult it showed.Disgusting.
How did her father turn around so quickly? Did they show in the film? It was shown she became a successful officer and he was fine with her being not married and working 🤨🤨
I think Aarti can tell Satish about that situation but she didn't even Satish called her still she rejects the call.

I agree with most of your opinion, especially on the movie Shaadi Mein zaroor aana and while i hate how the LGBTQ community is portrayed in Dostana, I would like to point out that the primary purpose of the movie was to bring attention to the community on the mainstream. This movie was the reason most of us in India were introduced to the LGBTQ community as kids. They had to make it comedic or else it wouldn't have gotten the platform it did. The portrayal is still bad and seeing other movies use the same cliche even now is worse but at least the movie started the talk around the whole LGBTQ community.
Dear creator shadi mei jrur aana is the true depiction of our society it happens in many places Till this date though the ending was bit filmy but it was an eyeopener film too. No hates to you but "smza" is truly a Fantastic movie

Raja Ki Aayagei Baraat is such a fucked up movie.
I remember watching it after after KKHH when Rani Mukherjee got famous overnight. There was a lot I didn't understand as a kid but still so much of it just made me uncomfortable. But seriously it is an insidious movie.
I'm having another cycle of depression and anxiety and the string of belittling women in desi cultures and oppression literally gave me a mini breakdown while eating making the Kim K ugly crying face....

Because she grew up in that kind of society.🙁😕

The main problem of most of the bollywood movies is that even though they try to portray a social issue through their movies but completely fails till the half way 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ either by trying to making it a comic film or by their lack of plot story
Shaadi main zaroor aana made me so angry for the same reason!! Woh aunty jis ne pehle dahej mangi thi, jab woh zor zor se ro rahi thi ki wapas paise deni padenge, man kar rahi thi to give her such a slap. First of all, they asked for dahej, jo pehle se cheap hain, aur phir itni jaldi se they spent it all??? And we are supposed to feel sorry for the family?? I was cheering the heroine only, ki haan, bhag jao, in bakwaas families se azaad Ho jao 🙄

I'm an Indian American living in the West for 20 years and believe me the treatment of the community is much worse in the West than in India. They don't practice what they preach and what you see on TV is not the reality.
