I tend to think of this song as a criticism of the music industry and how it, and the people who follow it, treats artists.
The music industry has a mental health problem, and it's not just ignored, it's romanticised; Think xxtentacion, Lil Peep, the 27 club, all of these are people passed away, many whom only got famous AFTER they died. People often don't realise what they have until it's gone and this song clearly shows it, a rocky yet bittersweet starts followed by a heavy burnout which then leads up to the aftermath of the death, where he all of a sudden has more streams and attention.
It's honestly so upsetting how much this happens, things need to change.
