- Cutting Perfect Circles On A Bandsaw With No Holes and Making A Jig In Less Than 5 Minutes
This jig is so easy to make and can produce perfectly cut circles in just 5 minutes...including making the jig.
Great for things like coasters, bowl blanks, clocks etc...and much safer than using a table saw.
Special thanks to my Patrons David Shrive, Charles France, Mad Hamish, Chris Gilboy, Barbara Joseph and all of my other Patrons.

This is the most straight forward example I've seen on how to make a bandsaw circle jig. Thank you. :)
You’re very welcome. Some of the jigs I’ve seen are just too fancy and whilst they do work, the time they can take to make and some of the accessories you might need to buy can all add up and that can be off putting. Sometimes simple works well 😊
This must be the simplest circle jig to make and the easiest to use I have ever seen. 10/10. Gold star on teachers class chart.
Cant believe so many rude people commenting on your self made music which obviously you are very proud about...
Best way I've seen yet, thanks
Very Nice and simple, that's what I like
Me too :-)
Thank you for this Lee, it's exactly what I was looking for. Id honestly never think of it myself.
Love this design. It's so simple and easy to make but does the job. I'm going to make one for a project I have coming up. Thanks so much for this great idea!
Always a pleasure. Its basic but it works...I use it all the time now. It can be modified to make it more versatile but it all depends on the individual need etc :-)
I needed a jig for a one-off circle cut, and other videos that came up on the search were longer than the amount of time I wanted to spend making the jig! This one fit the bill,--short video, jig does a precise job and easy to build. Great job!
Thanks. There are some complex ones on UA-cam but I think for the majority of the time, a simple one like this will do the job just fine :-)
Nice one, really clear. I liked the no holes options!
Thanks :-) Its a really simple jig to make but really useful. I use it a lot for making my turning blanks.
Man so simple and easy to use, thanks for the video, this is just what I need thanks
Wonderful idea. Just what I need!
Thanks. Hope it helps 👍
just what I've been looking for!
:-) :-)
Good job on project design and on the video!
Great jig, thanks
No problem 👍
Great video, thank you for creative and sharing.
Thanks 👍👍
Very smart very simple cheap and easy thanks for sharing
I just made this jig. It worked BEAUTIFULLY!! Thanks
Cool, glad it was of help :-)
@@Smugwood gotta tell you, I made several round pieces for plant stands and it’s so easy, (& fun). Thanks again.
Great idea! Like it better than any jig I’ve made! Thanks!
Its nice and simple...Ive been using it this week although I did get lazy and didn't swap the big blade back to the little one and that made a difference...live and learn :-)
Thank you! Made my own jig today! Perfect for my crafting needs on a small bandsaw!
Cool. Hope it all went well 👍
Nice quick build,thanx 🔨
Thank you for the knowledge
Good video 👏
Thanks :-)
Thanks for the great jig tutorial
Thank you.
Northern knowhow. Thanks for the video
I'm glad you mentioned the method on how to make no holes, I would have been completely stumped. Cheers!
If I’m cutting for lathe blanks I don’t mind the holes but when they’re for coasters...it’s nice not to have the holes...unless it’s part of a decoration etc. I did fill one once with milliput and it actually looked cool 😂
@@Smugwood That's a good idea. I also considered you could put a cork backing on them and no one would be any wiser :)
It’s funny you should say that 😂 I’m in the middle of a new video and doing exactly that...putting cork on the bottom of the coaster. I bought some cork but it was thicker than I wanted but was going to try it yesterday then realised I’d nothing to stick it with so I just order some 2 part epoxy glue. Hopefully it won’t react with the cork 😂
Simply brilliant, no other way to put it really😀
What I like about it is it’s quick and easy and great for small scrap pieces which are too awkward to put on my lathe. Ive made some nice little projects from the jigs in the past 😊👍
great video. what is the smallest diameter circle you could cut with this jig?
Agree with previous comment. Good & informative vid. Thks
Thanks Brian. Was a fun little video to make and hopefully it’ll be of help to a few people looking to cut circles on the bandsaw. I still use this method over my cnc sometimes and great for those small scrap wood pieces 😊👍
@@Smugwood Nice to see a vid. being made these days without a cnc machine and every wood working tool known to man ! some of us can just afford cheap & cheerful tools ..lol Thks again
My pleasure. Thanks for watching. 👍
I’m almost suicidal with that sound track.
Thanks
I love the idea of using double sided tape so I don’t have holes in them. Thanks
Yeah, its saved me many times. Its not so bad if I'm woodturning and need the centre hole to fix too, but with things like coasters, it looks so much better with a hole :-)
great video Lee!
Thanks Johnathan...hardest part of the video was recording the voiceover. It was raining here so heavily that I had to record it 3 times because all you could here was the rain and not my voice 😂
@@Smugwood thats always a pain but it came out good in the end!
I had to record it under a blanket with a torch 😂 Crazy...but it worked.
@@Smugwood the things we do for a video😂
True 😂😂
I made one but my blade keeps stopping and i cant turn i have to back it out. Do you know why this maybe happening
very niiiice ty
What are the pins called, and where may I purchase them? (I'm new to cutting circles) Thanks!
There’s various things that can be used but I used what I had to hand which was a shelf pin or shelf support.
Nice and simple. What kind of bandsaw do you have?
It’s a Record Power BS350 👍
Graet idea to use the double sided tape. Anton’s Son
Brilliant, simple, repeatable. Thank you kindly for sharing!
You’re very welcome.
Had to watch it again🤣 Anton’s Son
What is the music that you used? Thanks.
It’s music I compose myself 👍
the problem with this jig is that you have to set the fence to EXACTLY the same distance from the blade every time you use it. it would be better to add a runner for the miter slot(s)
It is of course very possible to improve the jig...but the more complex, the longer it takes and the idea was to make it in 5 mins :-)
Didn't quite get the name of the pins?
Shelf pins
WITH A QUARTER INCH BLADE < HOW SMALL CAN YOU CUT A CICRLE
I’m not sure…not something I’ve measured. But I’m pretty sure there must be a specific calculation that can be used to determine cutting circles for a given blade. 👍👍
This music sounds like an old school Nintendo game
I'll take that as a compliment :-)
That look like the best and ez way of doing it .kiss.keep it Simple stupid .with that it will work for me .I give your video a 10 + grate Idea
Thanks 😊😊
Actually "no holes" is a bait. But this is the regular circle cutting jig for bandsaw I was after.
and without a bandsaw?
Free hand and then using the pivot on the bench sander…or perhaps router?
nice video. But terribly annoying music.
Thanks for the feedback. So I can look to improve in the future, can I ask exactly what it is about my music that is off putting. I make the music myself, so I have full control of how it sounds…so if I know how I can change or improve it I will definitely look into it. I think a little background music can help but only if it’s done properly. If you’re able to give some feedback that’d be really helpful. 👍
Wawo
No holes??????
Love your content, but the music is driving me crazy - I prefer to hear the noise of the tools and your commentary. Might be good to have some 'live' comments rather than voice over. Only making these comments in a constructive way, as it will defo help to grow your channel.

@@Smugwood I have no problem with your music, I admire your talent. However, for a woodworking video maybe if would be better as background so you can still hear the sound of the tools. As I mentioned in my reply it would be good to hear you live- it I’d more personal. If you study some of the best and most successful UA-camrs (Wood by Wright, Rex Krueger, Paul Sellers) they all talk to you with some voice over , but minimal. I don’t think I could do this as it is outside my comfort zone- but if you give it a try if would be interesting to see how your views respond. Apologies I’ve my post appeared negative / it wasn’t intended.
audio annoying
Thank you for the good tips. Please do away with the background music (noise)!
Im starting to get the feeling people dont like my music :-) Its always a bit hard to hear it upsets people as I make all the music myself from scratch...but at the same time...Ive no problem with constructive criticism so if its not good I need to look at improving it. Appreciate the feedback and hopefully I'll improve in future videos.
Interesting video but some of the worst video music I have heard. Why have music?
Can I ask what it is you didn’t like. I create and compose all of my own music and want it to be enjoyable. If I can find out why people don’t like it I’m hoping I can improve. 👍
@@Smugwood it’s simply very irritating and does not fit into the video. What is the purpose of it? Watch some of the videos from Japanese woodworkers which not only don’t have music but also don’t have dialog. Look at the number of their views and subscribers.
thought this was no hole jig - untrue and made worse by awful soundtrack
