    I was really skeptical of the way the cannon fire gutted such massive planes, then I found that the planes were supposed to be armed with quad MK 108s. Holy shit.

    I'm also imagining this as some weird alternate reality where the allies decided to allow Karl Donitz' government to remain in power in West Germany after the war in order to serve as a buffer against the Soviet Union, which has now caused the famously paranoid Stalin to kick off World War III in the late 1940's. Granted the swastikas on the Ta-183's kinda discredit this idea, but I still like it.

      This one has an extended tail. It looks fat because it’s tail design is unconventional. Ta 183v3 has a conventional tail and the whole plane looks much slimmer, but the it is otherwise the same plane.

    • @andersforsgren3806
      @andersforsgren3806 4 роки тому +2

      Short fuselage yes, that's why the tailwing lean back so drastically and the rear wing mounted there to give an offset tail.
      Structural failure was not just an rare accident but came optional. Metal fatigue was not understood at the time.
      Then again fighting aircraft was never designed for a long duration, most would be shot down to fast to develop metal fatigue
      Just like in this mission, they killed a heck of a number of enemy aircraft but all 4 Huckabees were lost in the end.

    I've been playing this game for a rather long time and I'm having some issues with the Ta-183. I seem to be unable to get a half decent rate of climb or regain airspeed while flying level despite pushing my engine to its limit. Is there something about the Ta-183 that I am unaware of?

    • @Fishyyy
      @Fishyyy  4 роки тому +1

      It's not your fault, the Ta-183's flight model just makes it real bad. We actually flew this with engine overheat disabled, so the performance wouldn't suck so much :/

    • @ligmaboo
      @ligmaboo 4 роки тому +3

      I had more luck controlling the speed and climb with the stick and not the throttle. But using the same tactic on any other jet makes them go even faster. I revisited the TA-183 and was still disappointed, even with a shit engine id expect it to go down hill really fast in a dive but even mustangs can catch up to it. Meanwhile the YP-80 can pull energy out of its ass. I wish someone made a mod for the TA-183 or even the P-1101 that gave the “correct performance” even though they are paper planes, well the TA-183 is.

    Just curious. Maybe things have changed since my time as an aircraft mechanic in the air force; but are chocks not used against the wheels of the aircraft, while they are parked. They're not used prior to brake-release on the runway. They would have already been removed when the planes taxied out.
    Unless you're referring to chocks of a different sort?

    • @Fishyyy
      @Fishyyy  4 роки тому +1

      It's just an IL-2 thing. Whenever you are at a complete halt, you can apply chocks, to completely remove any movement of your aircraft. It's handy to coordinate takeoffs in jets, which require a lot of time to "throttle" up. This way everyone can release chocks while at full power, to takeoff simultaniously.

    2)manual guided missiles were proven to be very ineffective due to pilot not having combination of Spider-man's reflexes/coordination and Luthor's brain. As well as lack of copilot and technological shortcomings on top:D Try rocket pods with proximity fuze rockets instead.
    3)if the war continued then Allied technological cooperation did too. Those things would be escorted by Meteors/Shooting Star. Not to mention probably flying at night with use of automatic gun laying turrets and dropping guided bombs.

    The TA-183s look like kids of a Sabre and a MiG 15 that are size as ME-163...just look at it...Front and cockpit look like Sabre's,has the resemblance (looks) and wingspan of a MiG 15...

      The censorship is absolutely ridiculous, especially here in Germany. Idk it's sort denying the past for something we today didn't do. Who will see the swastika and say " Hey cool. I want to be Nazi..."

    • @delta5379
      @delta5379 5 років тому +1

      Eric Busch Probably they don't want you to think Nazis are and some people really get pissed by seeing a swastika. Look at Battlefield V for example. That game is extremely politically changed to the extend, that not even in the campaign a swastika was seen. I agree with you, and I respect you as a German citizen. It's like trying to erase something that happened. It's part of your history, as bad as it might be. In the war there's no right or wrong.

    You can say what you want but it was Kurt Tank original idea.
    I have heard that it was a German designer that made Mig15
    And where did he got it from?
    Usually those that had the original idea gets the credits.
