I'm getting this game mostly for Mazinger Zero. The fact that Koji managed to tame a multiverse eating hell spawn just makes it all the more badass. The manga was great, but loving Zero's design, I really wanted to see him become good. SRW V did a great job on this as I've already spoiled that arc for myself. My only disappointment is the lack of a final dynamic special between Zero, Getter Emperor, and Tengen Toppa. (who's sadly not in the game) In the next game, they better make that shit happen somehow. For now, watching the Emperor of Darkness cower before the power of Zero and Getter is more than enough of a cocktease to keep my interest. *spoilers* The ending of the Zero manga was fucking meta. It's literally SRW.

Just throwing this out there, since you referred to it as an error: Bring someone/something to heel is an actual term. The all-knowing Google informs me that the exact meaning is to "Bring someone under control." Just an fyi. Also, as someone who came to this review because I'm unfamiliar with the series but I'm interested in mecha and tactics games, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed you didn't at least briefly touch on what kind of game this is. I can glean that it IS probably a tactics game, but still. It would've been helpful to set the tone for people such as myself. A lot of this review sounds like you're assuming everyone watching is already familiar with the material.
My mistake. Both the advertisements and what's written on my code sheet made it seem like that. Which was probably Banpresto's intention in order to sell more first editions, but still my goof.
I may be one of the odd fellows that actually didn't get into the Yamato series no matter how others praise it. I don't think it's bad, but it's just that... I didn't get to that series. Anyway, this seems to be a fine and important series for the franchise overall... but there is one thing that bugs the hell out of me and make me think not as overly high as others think of this: I love me some Supers, and this game's amount of Reals just plain OVERWHELMS the Supers. There ARE some sweet Supers, like Might Gaine or the grand return of Tetsuya along with the Mazin Emperor G, buuuutttt.... Yeah. You get the idea.
I think they're a lot of fun and pretty well balanced. Both Shinji and Asuka are standout pilots in their group. There's also a really good secret Eva unit that I won't spoil, but it really helped me out as soon as I got it.
Actually multiple PSN accounts can be on 1 Vita. Problem is, you're gonna need more than 1 memory card. The Vita memory card is tied to your PSN account.

1. I mean it's a so bad it's good kind of show. The Sunrise staff themselves admitted they were creating a near parody of their usual work and went all out with the sex and violence. I can't completely recommend it based on that, but if you can get past at least the first 3 episodes you actually get a really decent dystopian sci-fi tale with honestly one of my favorite heroines of all time voiced by Nana Mizuki no less. 2. I would say Kira and Shin are much more tolerable, but again that's because this takes place after Seed Destiny when they've all gone through their character arcs. 3. It's 52 stages long and I spent about a week playing. For me, I'd say that totaled about 35 hours plus now I'm playing New Game+ to see the route splits I didn't play through at first so this is a lengthy game in my opinion.

Exactly, and for me it's still the best out of the VXT trilogy. The central plot of Yamato 2199 (which is so damn good) easily coincides with its gundam side-plots.
I'd say it's case of apples and oranges. I love this game series just a little bit more than Fire Emblem, but that might be because I love much of the roster. It probably doesn't have the deepest strategy game system ever, but I still find it very enjoyable.

Now i can't claim to be a veteran as the only ones i played were alpha gaiden, J and the 2 on GBA (the ones that were translated). Oh and moon dwellers. So i would say im no expertt on these games by any stretch. Anyway what i will say is i agree with your opinion about the difficulty curve. I was kinda lack luster. Also another thing i was very annoyed about (and i agree this could be me just being petty) is the lack of VR forms and ability to combined bots to its little guys (though i think that last one only really applies to the Brave cast. Alpha basically allowed anything that could become a plane or an animal to do so. This game is limited to a coupple from the uc timeline and nothing else. Now i admit to not using different forms very often but the extra efffort would have been nice if only to play out daydreams i have. Seriously youd think they would do that for the cross ange paramails at least. Other than that though i do agree with what you say about the story and gameplay So now i would like to ask your opinion on a few things: First what was your favorite unit? Mine was Unicorn followed by Mazinger Zero and MazinEmperor (though thats mostly because unicorn is my favorite mecha of all time. First, I'd say Mazin Emperor mostly because I've always wanted a upgrade for Great M who always felt so neglected when his buddies were getting cool upgrades while he just got maybe a couple new attacks. Also find he is the most technically sound unit thanks to it's move set and Tetsuya's spirit commands. Second, I find it highly unlikely we'll get a V2 since most of this roster's storylines are done. Only one that sticks out to me is Eva, but god knows when the Rebuild movies are ever gonna finish. Last, the English subtitling will depend on how well these games sell in those Asian countries. The fact that Play-Asia is still having trouble restocking is a good sign that it's selling like hotcakes.

To answer your Cross Ange question, I'd say she's mostly the same though her interactions with the other mech pilots add some nice depth to her character. Showing that Ange can be friendly with guys besides Tusk and even playful. If I had to choose I would definitely choose SRW V Ange just for that extra layer to what was already a well developed heroine IMO. And yes I thought Prince of Darkness was handled very well. It's nice that Yurika got involved. It happened in SRW-W too, but her interactions with everyone felt a lot more fleshed out in V so yeah it's probably the best by default.
What about other Norma girls in SRW V as they are more easily rejoined you back thanks to other cast especially how Athrun, Kira and Shin able to convince Chris and Salia back thanks to their past experience and Akito managed to change Hilda for the better.Also how do you feel that Embryo is main villain in SRW V especially he kidnapped all heroes love interest (including underage like Minerva, Sally and Bernetdde)and wives(Berah and Yurika) to be his Waifu forcefully. Even Marina thinks Embrya is absolute scum Also I love how Ruri tranquil fury on Julio and able to humiliate him.How about Leonard redemption after seeing someone like him x1000 with zero redeeming quality like Embryo?

Embryo to me is such a great villain you love to hate. Him being dealt the final blow by Leonard was just the cherry on top to what was already a perfect villain death..
So what your funniest moment in SRW V Mine is Rosalie and Chris HAVE instead crush on Athrun and stage where Beta male jealous over Athrun and Banjo for their chick magnet.
Yeah them falling for Arthrun was both funny yet kind of weird to me. The Gundam pilots all have that same Sunrise super pretty boy aesthetic and yet they only fall for one of them. Whatever. As you can tell I'm partial to FMP and especially Bonta-kun so funniest moment for me was all of the secret stage where he encounters Perolina. They meet fight, Ange fires at him from Vilkiss, the enemy units freak out that they were defeated by a plushie, it's all good stuff.
Well with so much similarity to the Z3 games plus how a lot of series is already post plot I can't help but feel that this is a "what could've been Z3 if it's not split into 2 games" (maybe minus some of the series from Z and Z2 but eh). Nice review anyways, and I think I MAY buy it...if I have the time and money...
Pretty much the same opinion I have for 90% of Jam Project's library: insanely awesome as it's sung by some of the most talented artists in all of Japan. I don't think I like it as much as Gong or Skill, but it's probably somewhere in my top 5 Jam Project songs.
Tbh I think the Yamato 2199 in SRWV ain't the Yamato from Yamato 2199 anime cause that Yamato is only 333m long definitely not big enough to house Gundams and Mechs and fighters at the same time my guest SRWV Yamato 2199 is much bigger then the 2199 Yamato must be at least as big as a Gundam Carrier or Battleship which are somewhere in the 500m-1000m size range

It really should and more than likely will happen. This game alone showed how close these games and Sunrise are by including a fairly recent series (Cross Ange) and a novel (Hathaway's Flash).
If you're still new to this franchise I'd say this one. Moon Dwellers is a slightly better challenge, but the dialogue in that title is more than a little awkward.

The DLC lets you get them in a bonus stage after stage 2. Without it, you can only ever get them in a bonus stage after stage 40.
