- Here is one WONDERFUL Record! (I stayed up all night listening to it when I bought it long ago!!) The Instrumentation is astounding, the melody is goosepimple heaven! With SMOOTH vocal that is uncredited, but I believe we are hearing the wonderful "Elmer Feldkamp"! If I am wrong I will post the correct name in the details and description. The Matrix number is 9591 for those who are interested, also released on BANNER 0664, ROMEO 1253, Cameo 0664, Oriole 1919, Regal ??! Enjoy!!
Love those Canadian pressings!
Thank You so much! I sure LOVE the Canadian issues myself!
What a novel foxtrot! Joffe & Thomas have pulled off a song so charming one can't help but be impressed by its vintage chord structure. Plus a big city lyric perfectly sung evoking the lovelorn lament of a reformed Manhattan playboy, (I wouldn't need girls, I wouldn't need shows) right at the end of the Jazz Age! Wish it was me! This record goes to the top of the stack. ❤Thanks for this delightful surprise! Great tune!
Thank You benzo!! I ADORE Melodies like this! Smooth, relaxing, with a touch of a weary lilt ( starting around 0:17 then 0:29 so on so forth - all through this wonderful song -THIS DRIVES ME WILD!!) This is where the stars were aligned just right with the perfect band and vocalist and song!!
@@roybo1930 I know exactly what you mean! This one is a winner! The California Ramblers sure changed their style in 1930! This Crown shows the band's new sound. They lost their infectous jazz edge of the twenties and went for the slow crooner songs that Rudy Vallee was making a vogue with on the radio! This is one of the best of these!
@@benzo4029 Thanks! It is indeed!
Another gem of a tune I’ve never heard before. Lovely melody, great condition. Please keep up your good works !
Thank You! I hope to upload a lot more you will like soon!
Wonderful side!! Great Feldkamp, and a fine California Ramblers. Different take than my copy on Banner!
Thanks so much! Interesting! I would LOVE to hear the take You have on BANNER!
The difference between the regular orchestras and the "Dime Orchestras" are the lack of stringed instruments in the latter.
Roybo1930, well…..speaking for myself and most likely for many others - “ya hit it outta the park” on this one. The microphone was in a perfect place , the vocalist was in perfect tone, the arrangement was perfect. Thanks, just thanks
The song is good, so is Elmer Feldkamp's vocal and the surface noise is minimal.
Thank You so much!!
Um deleite de música. Simplesmente maravilhosa
Vielen Dank für die schöne Erinnerung.
Adorable song,.,.,I love it❤ love it..,yes ❤
Yet another roybo1930 pearl saved from the oblivion of forgotten tunes ! Great melody. I draw a blank on the vocalist. Please keep ‘em coming !!!
Beautiful! Thank you Roybo!
Yet another precious, absolutely sensational performance! We are hearing exquisite Elmer Feldkamp indeed, who left us an impressive legacy of dozens of breathtakingly beautiful vocal refrains... Too bad this exceptional talent was to die so young :-( Regarding the orchestra, I could not retrieve any source stating the exact identity of who is behind this pseudonym, but "Golden Gate Orchestra" usually is an alias for Ted Wallace aka Ed Kirkeby. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks so much once again for the valuable info! I did not know anything about Elmer passing away at an early age! TOO SAD! It is amazing He later made CROWN records under his own name! This CROWN is a ARC - I Love these records, but they sure used the pseudonyms! I guess they had to, We would not be enjoying these wonderful recordings had it not been for that, so I take the good with the slightly bad.
Roybo I came back to listen to this. Yes, Elmer Freldcamps voice is super sweet. The clarinet must be Jimmy Dorsey or Benny Goodman. The brass is tougher to identify .Like you said “ California Ramblers “ was a group of collective musicians.🎶🎺🎶
Ahhh...just what I needed. My thanks for bringing this sweet tune to my attention. Much love, roybo1930💖
Thank You so much! I sure appreciate your wonderful comments!!
@@roybo1930 😀Gee thanks! That's just swell...I love spreading positivity and happiness for it brings others a slice of joy. It's the little things, ya know? And to my fellow lovers of the past, one being you, telling my thoughts and appreciation is like second nature to me. So keep beaming these lovely tunes at me and I'll be sure to tell ya how much I like or love it. I really want to thank you for showing me new 'old' songs that delight me so.💖
@@OLD_SOUL1900 OH! Thank You LARGE again! It sometimes is hard work to get these records cleaned and uploaded with a slow computer and all, But well worth the efforts for AWESOME folks like You!!
People find canadian label 78s more in the US than I do here!
Why were so many labels able to release it? Not all once? Love the side!!
