Owned one for about two months. Commuting 6 days a week 82 miles round trip. Overall, city about 52 mpg. Freeway 58. Yes I get the 105 miles for the first gallon when fully charged. Great pickup when needed. I never fear traffic. Even when the battery is depleted, the brakes recharge and the engine will continue to use the electric engine. Overall I chose to put my money into ford instead of oil. The peace of mind and nifty features are all nice. We fit family and dogs without compromise. Don't overlook this one if your in the market.

Are you able to run the car in straight hybrid mode w/ a fully charged battery?
I know that may defeat the purpose, but I’m just curious. Like… does that give you increases mpg? Mixing the large battery w/ the ice? Or do you just run EV until battery dies and then run it as a normal hybrid?

@Jon Jacobs yes. I can save 80% of the battery. The used portion acts as a buffer for the hybrid engine. I still clear on average 50, sometimes 60 plus mpg in this mode.

@Lakbay_Hukay_HunterXretnuH not in the hybrid I believe. I want to say they do have an awd. Not sure which model.

Plug in is Front Wheel Drive, reg hybrid avail in AWD. We love ours. Our other car is a Subaru which has AWD. On Ohio we rarely see the subu switch into awd. Fir us front wheel only works plus it saves gas. Our phev escape is a 2023.

I dont understand why there arent MORE plug in hybrids.
My folks who live wayyyy out in the country want a large plug in hybrid SUV and there are hardly any options. A million options if you want a normal hybrid, and (soon) a pure EV, but I think plug in hybrids are the best of both worlds right now, for all the reasons you state. ESPECIALLY if you live out in the middle of the country as many Americans do.

I think we will start to see more. PHEVs make a lot of sense for a lot of people.

So the big question here is, is that 0.18 per kwh without any kwh related Admin fees? For example, I have a fixed rate of about 0.12 per kwh, but my provider tachs on about 0.07 per kwh for related admin costs. If you take your last 12 bills from your service provider you can probably figure out which admin fees are related to the kwh used.

No No - this is a Ford Kuga. Somehow they put the wrong Name on the car ;-) - Very detailed Video again. Makes even a boring car interesting. That`s not an easy task.

Great detailed review. I owned a 2017 2.0L Escape. It was great vehicle. Never a single problem in 80k miles. It was so fast for what you think that car would ever be. I drove a 2020 Hybrid before the PHEV was out. The acceleration was way too slow, epically being used to that 2.0L. So I went with a Jeep. Wanted something capable and little bigger. Will be taking a look at the 2023 Escape PHEV, I hope its fast enough. Live in Brooklyn and the entrance ramps are the size of my old driveway in NJ, who ever design some of these roads around NYC, WTF. Coming from the state of the U turn capital (NJ) .

Does ford have normal hybrid (not pulg in). I'm a uber driver and i dont want spending time to chaarge car.

I don’t think so at the moment. If you’re an Uber driver just get a used Prius. Best fuel economy and very reliable. The non plug in Fords are F150, and Maverick

Escape plug in hybrid not available in all wheel drive. This alone makes it a no buy for quite a few people in my opinion.
We have a 2022 RAV 4 Prime model SE all wheel drive now with well over 6,000 miles. This summer we have been getting over 50 miles per electric charge and 45+ MPG when operating in pure hybrid mode with a depleted battery.
Why would anybody buy a Escape plug in hybrid when they can purchase a RAV 4 Prime.

But yes rav 4 prime the local dealership here wanted $10K OVER MSRP. Also now in 2023 it does NOT qualify for a rebate anymore as its not built in the USA (unless, oddly if you lease it you get the 7500)

On the contrary, I think a PHEV excels at being a great daily driver which will cost next to nothing to run and you can still take it on long road trips without worrying about charging.
