One electrode is hot, DC current plasma discharge there? Low power there...(200wt better and working like real termoplasma speacker, when this(on the video) is ionophone more than termophone, because position modulation, but unstable on finish points of all (always moving) arcs ) i find out that stell electrodes are not good for plasma speacker, due to weak ionisation possybylity of iron, try copper, or place near start of arc(around sharp electrode) some ionisation source, like piece of CaCO3, or glasswool dryed in water+alcohol solution of NaCl or any enother mineral or metallic material, which will give "fat" plasma flame, like coper electrodes(sounds louder and better than steel). also remember - nitrogen oxides produced by air discharge, and ozone, they all are really toxic, to solve maybe some silent fan can be used, ended with zero resistance(of gase flow) filter - jar filled by activated carbone, or maybe cyclone type flow rotation liquid filled air filter from old car(usually filled with oil that catch dust from air vortex passing near liquid), but filled with water solution of any kind of soda, it will catch poison gases NO and NO2, converting it to some fertiliser sodium nitrates salts. my speacker prototipe:( ua-cam.com/video/s33Q9E4pgM8/v-deo.html )if you are intrested, i can give you full schematic documentation, and permision for comercial spreading of its kit, even free, it sounds great, almost from 100Hz, 300hz wery good, and tube analog power modulator -sounds better than PWM class-D modulation, without 0-300hz signals(filtered freq. by Cool Edit high order digital filter) i can not find(to hear) any difference of my plasma speacker with Stax SR-303 headphones(earspeackers, so called by Stax company) powered by direct drive tube triode amplifier class A two stage(two triode in each chanel) without feedback loop, that i make also, and love most. this is my own schematic sollution, 200wt=150wt supporting "DC" power of silence(25kHz around 15kV AC)+50wt tube class A additive plasma power modulator,- plasma termo later it was placed in 5liters plastic(PP or PE) box, but unfortunately never heard stereo of it - that is my dream... that past time, i make HV tube amplifier for direct drive of electrostatic speacker, that was supplied by two(for independent supplied chanels of stereo) 200wt MOSFET halfbrige 2*IRF840+IR2153(always 50% Duty cycle) stepup with TV flyback НV transformer but 43turns first coil, and its own HV coil(2000turns good isolated with epoxy glass), and then two HV diodes - each are 20pcs ultrafast diodes 1000v10a rated, in series, and two capacitors 10kV, conected as a brige voltage doubling rectifier. only wit that diodes i got the power... 200wt continious DC 15kV*14mA , that was consumpted continiously constant current, due to output differencial two tube stage of amp. that powered by current source. very meaningfull on "low voltage" stage of stepup was varistors on each mosfet, 27volt type small varistor on GS pins of IRF840, and 470volt type bigger one varistor on SD pins, and extra external rear-diodes(inside mosfets slow and weak diodes - often brokes) 1000v10A ultrafast also on SD pins of mosfet - like built-in weak and slow diode, in paralel, also 10.0 oHm resistors in gate was between mosfet gate and driver chip, and out of halfbrige connecned via 0.5microfarade 450V polypropylene film capacitor, to first self-maden low voltage coil, 45turns,-70wt max 44turns 100wt...43-42turns 200wt, 41turns-explosion of mosfets... f>25khz possible, 40-60khz easy, but ferrite МН-2000 core start to heat really, and secondary(HV) coil brokes soon, because of its own internal isolation(slow one-like PET, not fast like PP or PS)capacity hFreq looses to heat for plasma speacker no HV rectifier was needed, and stepup that works good in wide range of power, without looses(almost RoomTemp. cold parts when work) so i decide to modulate this by power supply modulation of half brige(last) mosfet stage(chip was powered by own 14vDC supply) mosfet supply was sum of constant DC current via HPS-lamp-type inductance ballast+resistor, that was silent power circuit-150wt, and GU-50 tube anode current - in sum,also to mosfet supply, that can add more current up to 200wt peack power - sound modulation part, so, plasma power modulation was provided by tube working in class A, and support("Silent") power, bigger part of power(which determines medium size of plasmoid, and its own bass potency) ------------------------------- for you: try to use liquid electrolite(car aq. 30% H2SO4 sol-n will be good) as finish electrode, preferably (+) positive polarity, that give realy bigger and hotter plasma from low power, due to acid electrolite protons flying up from liquid surphase to stell cathode(- polarity), that melts 1mm stell wire,from only 4-5A (2kwt oven - as resistor + one diode(half period rectifier) with (-) on electrolite you got almost nothing, but AC not so bad. under liquid surphase will be your magnet, and i hope - arcs hot finish points will disappear, and sound cracks also good luck
