Tigerland (2000) - WIlson Threatens to Kill Bozz Scene
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 вер 2024
- Tensions reach a boiling point during an intense shooting exercise as the hot-headed Wilson (Shea Whigham) turns his rifle directly on Bozz (Colin Farrell), threatening to pull the trigger and end his life right then and there. The shocking act of aggression leaves the other recruits frozen, unsure if Wilson's outburst is simply part of the volatile drill or a sign that he's cracked under the immense pressure. In this crucible of simulated warfare, the line between training and actual deadly force has become perilously blurred.

Tigerland immerses viewers in the psychological pressure cooker of a U.S. Army training camp in the summer of 1971, where young recruits are being prepared for deployment to the quagmire of the Vietnam War. Among this group is the rebellious Bozz, who clashes with the rigid disciplinarian tactics of their captor-like instructors. As Bozz's defiant antics threaten to derail the dehumanizing Tigerland program, unexpected bonds form between the draftees that transcend rank and background. An exploration of masculine bravado and the brutal realities of war, the film takes an unflinching look at the men tasked with fighting an increasingly unpopular conflict while grappling with their own morality.

In 2001, I was performing compulsory military service in the Polish army. A young boy called up a few months after me shot himself in the mouth at a shooting range. I will never forget the Sergeant who was the shooting instructor and who tried to save him. He was covered in blood.
That’s what the Polish military gets making service mandatory. Just because you’re a fighting age male doesn’t mean you should be handling weapons or fighting.

something similar happened in real life on the camp pendleton rifle range back in 81 or 82. disgruntled shitbird lance corporal who had been denied leave stood up on the 500 yard line and started firing his weapon at people. a range safety warrant officer kept everyone from turning their rifles on him and was trying to talk him down. he made a bad move and the warrant officer pulled a 38 revolver from his pocket and killed him.

@@Aden_III Pressure and years of trauma or stress
Pretty typical. Reminds me of a manager at many companies, refusing to deal with the problem employee and consider the squeaky wheel to instead be the employees who don't bow to said problem employee. I had a crazy Lead at a job who would rant, scream and cuss people out and the managers (all of them) thought it was cute. One of them said they "couldn't tame her" and the whole situation was ridiculous. I wrote an anonymous letter to HR stating that I'd start recording her screaming and ranting at employees all day in violation of HR policies in the employee handbook. They literally changed the entire employee handbook and reissued them saying that we "couldn't record audio in the workplace." I'll bet that same crazy b is still there screaming at employees. We went through dozens while I was there.
That sucks. I had a job where the assistant manager would call me drunk while they were off the clock. We had many stock guys that would keep booze in the stock room outside security to get drunk on the job, constantly chugging red bulls to hide the stench of alcohol. (Doesn't work) On top of the manager looking the other way to dozens upon dozens of complaints from both female and male employees about one particular employee who was harassing female employees on the job site. Stuff like: "I like my women young so I can train 'em right." Or standing behind them at the time clock so they would bump into his groin when they turned around.
Took months of calling HR to do something about it, but they left the manager in charge, despite him NEVER making a record of any of the shenanigans going on.
The problem was that you went to HR which has the company's interest in mind, much like the mistake made here was going to his own leadership. When something like this happens it has to be strictly business, and going to employees rights and filing for harassment is your best bet.
Well, it was a very large company and we literally were the corporate office warehouse location (HR manager for the company was on-site and walked the floor daily seeing and hearing her rant). They probably have at least 2,000 or 3,000 employees, so "changing the handbook" makes me wonder if it was just our location only that they changed like 50-60 copies of for everyone just to try to tone down the situation. She was from Barbados and always bragged about 'her country' being so great and such. He country was like 20 miles wide by 20 miles long, so obviously not. If it would have been directly affecting me, I would have filed a complaint elsewhere. I wanted to stay anonymous, however.

That's surprising. The only kind of 1911 I've ever shot was a Taurus. That thing was accurate enough for competitions. I always assumed the older ones were the same.
A2’s?
@@f.wallace8969 The sights were really small on them.
@@f.wallace8969 I would hope colt had better machining qc back then than Taurus does now, worst guns on the market next to kahr
Even liked high points better than Taurus
There’s no way their 1911’s are better than an old colt
Why even bring the other guy into his office if he was just going to dismiss him? Seems like a really weird, inorganic situation.
desk dude had an ongoing grudge against Farrell's reluctance to accept a "leadership role" and seems content to set him up for failure via hostile or unstable situations as a method of indirect punishment. While Farrell's character just wants to finish his tour of duty, and be discharged from the military with no interest in reenlistment.
and desk dude would be hostile against others who decide to defend Farrell's character from what we catagorize today as biased prejudice and targeted retaliatory harrassment.
Odd that the MPs weren't armed.
It would be good if another Tigerland movie was made, with the same scripts but with other young actors, hopefully there is a producer who will make a new Tigerland movie
What range do i have to go to where they mags already loaded for me?!?
I think he really overestimates his authority and influential power of a captain. Or is simply trying to use intimidation tactics.
Why the fuck is this censored??
Can confirm my asst, machinegunner tried to frag me in my bunk.
TIGGER LAND, blow my fuse?😳
Jman
Idk why Binge Society comes up in my feed. Bleeping out the swears ruins the entire scene.
It's a policy at police academy I attended that if you turn on the firing line, weapon unholstered, you are shot. No warning, just two center mass and one to the head. They teach firing line commands, how to get instructors attention, etc. Every cadet knows what is at stake. All instructors are armed and sniper in the range tower. That's when the academy gets real.
wtf, live fire exercises usually have the tower rats with rifles at the ready... weird.
You can tell this part was written for Brad Pitt
No one gonna acknowledge how this is a Vietnam film but their helmets are 80s M1s? U can tell by the chin straps lol. It’s so lazy it hurts
Many range NCOs keep loaded rifles in the “tower” for various situations.
Dang.. was this Cole before or after Skull Island?
Why is the guy who had the gun pointed at him in trouble?
An outstanding movie.
lol 0:59 i didnt expect that
A 1911 with explosive shells huh? Noice.
2:42 - Bozz becomes Irish.
