Hi John, love the video, thanks for the recommendation! I'm always happy to help out with any cabling questions to integrate new and classic B&O products together. Cheers Steve.
soundsheavenly Dear Steve, I have a pair of beolab 9s and a pair of beolab 3s. I want to modernise them and make them available via wifi. I also want to connect them to my non-beolab TV and HIFI. Would this be possible? And if so, with one core? Thank you.
Thanks for the video. I was advised of the Core today by B&O in Guildford. This after having done a ton of research for a mate (who has 4x Beovision 7 TVs, Beosound 4 and 3 passive amps, all linked up with master link and Beo4 controllers and a couple of wall/eye products). After also working out his LAN and WiFi set-up, (removing Red-Eye controllers and cabling), I think I’ve achieved the same result. Namely streaming music from Spotify, Napster, Amazon etc to all the B&O zones, controlled via iPhone or iPad. How? SONOS ZP90 Connect, output via phono cable to the Aux-In of the Beosound 4. If he wants to mute any particular zone, that can be done via the Beo4 controllers, otherwise all controls can be managed from the iPhone. Cost was zero, as already had a phono cable. Put a new Ethernet cable into the ZP90 co-located with the Beosound 4. He can now build out new zones using SONOS amplified products over WiFi. Unfortunately for me Sounds-Heavenly’s been out of commission whilst trying to work this out I spent ages trying to connect SONOS into the Beovision 7, which has digital cable and scart inputs, whereas SONOS has phono and optical output. So I still don’t know if it’s possible. (To do so would have avoided running Ethernet to the Sound4). Simon
Beef Meister General! The negative comments don't bother me at all, I knew what to expect when I started the channel. There are plenty of good ones that make it all worthwhile. John.
That's what I tell people that I introduce to B&O. I like what I like and you like what you like. Just purchased the Beolab 18's with the Core. Have been a B&O fan/buyer since the late 80's.
this is the best Bang and Olufsen Store director I ever seen in all the B&O store I visited very helpful has I great knowledge and He promote the brand for the public
Great show :-) Q: Why did you connect the Beocore to the Aux of the Beosound and not the other way round? Meaning that the Beocore will be connected directly to the Beolab speakers and the Beosound will be connected as an Aux to the Beocore . Wouldn’t this produce a better sound quality? And assuming that most of the time you use music steaming, it’s easier to control the volume via the app instead of the Beosound remote. Am I missing something? Thanks Yoram
The best part of the video is your phone app overlay. I know that takes a bit of effort to edit so thank you. Stuff like that sets you apart from the others.
Hi John! Thanks for another excellent video. You mention that the Core sounds so much better than the Moment. Can you be a bit more specific around your experience? Are there superior technology inside the Core, compared to Moment? Cheers!
I have a Beoplay V1 connected by Transmitter 1 to my Beolab 18s and Beolab 19. Can I connect a core to this setup? Would it connect directly to the transmitter 1? Cheers
Hi John, question: I have a Beovision 7 - 40 and connected to that a Beolab 7-2 and a pair of 6000's. They are currently connected through my PC using 3,5mm jack out of the TV. Would it upgrade the sound quality if I were to connect the Core to the speakers and connect the Core to my PC using an optical output? Is that a noticable upgrade? or would it be a minor upgrade? Love to hear from you!
Thanks for the great overview! What is not clear to me is if I can integrate my turntable (a Transrotor) which is connected to the Beosound 3200. Any advise?
Hi John, I have a Core connected to a pair of Beolab 18s and mostly AirPlay music from my iPod. Is there a way of forcing the speakers to switch off when I've finished listening? They seem to just go to sleep after a while of paused music. Thanks, Patrick.
You showed using the Essence remote with the core but now what setting to out the remote at to work with the core. I have the B&O table which shows the different modes but not sure which one to set the essence remote too. cheers John
Hi John, I'm looking to create a wireless 5.1 (or maybe even 7.1) system using B&O Beolab speakers (probably a combo of 2x 17, 2x 18 and a 19 sub) - but it will be hooked up to my non-B&O TV. Can i just run an optical cable from the TV (or Marantz amp) to the BeoSound Core and have lossless sound over the B&O speakers? Thanks, Brett.
Can someone confirm; if I have the core connected to my router and the NL/ML converter. Then have my BS9000 connected to the converter via the masterlink. I should be able to fully control the BS9000 fully through the app. As in, select CD'S change input/ radio, everything the remote does?
IF I want to integrate with a NON B&O TV + pair of Beolab 17's (attached to core already for audio) Do I need the WISA box, or can I use the optical in/line-in options on the core from the TV. Need to be able to control volume with cable remote (HDMI only box). Thanks!
@@BangOlufsenManchester thanks. I have asked Steve. He might come up with a cable like that. It surprises me how something which should be a futureproof product like the Core has such limited number of ports. Playmaker legacy 😀
@@bobanovski787 a splitter can be used for 2 older speakers. Modern speakers have an input and output so you can daisy chain the speakers together so only 1 socket is needed on the Core.
Hi Andrew, you can connect the PowerLink socket to a non B&O amplifier or something with a suitable line in connection using a cable from Sounds Heavenly. You can then set the Core to a fixed volume output and use it as a regular source on whatever you have it connected to. John
Sounds like a great product for adding those functionalities! P.S those guys that complain about the price of products, clearly don't understand the manufacturing process of these great speakers! B&O is a speaker company, LG produces electronics...thus they can sell their products cheaper! Some people eh!
Brilliantly presented and informative as always John, are you sure you are not at least in part American? Born to be on TV? You have the slickness of Angela Rippon, and the sexiness of Moira Stewart, the calm delivery of Sue Lawley..........
Hi! Currently have 3200 with beolab 6000. Cabled beolab 3500 in separate room. Would core allow speakers to be controlled independently or would they effectively become one system? Thanks, kris
If you connect Core to your BeoSound 3200 it becomes another source on A.AUX. So if you stream to the Core you can the press A.AUX on the 3500 and the music will come through. John
Hi john I have question, if I connect beocore to my beosound 9000 can it be part od the multi room and play the CD from Beosound 9000 to the beoplay A9 in different room ?
Hi, John must be busy in the shop so helping out! As long as you connect your PL out on your 9000 to the Line in on the Core then yes this is possible. So to clarify, RJ45/PL output from your Core to the 9000, PL output from your 9000 to the Line-In on the Core.
@@iangrace232 but 9000 does not have out euless you mean the PL out the sape used for Speakers.(their are 2 PL 8 din and on AUX and one digital output) doe you mean the digital output ???
@@TheGodfather2504 yes there is a specialist lead from Steve at Sounds Heavenly - if you are using both PL connections then you will need to buy a splitter to free one up, then go from PL to Line on the Core. Can you tell me how to switch off the Beosound Core properly? I turned off the power main off with a loud “pop”sound. I connected the Core to Beolab 12-2
You can put it into standby with the app. There is a power button at the top right of the products screen. You can also pair a BeoRemote One BT or Essence remote via bluetooth if you want a physical standby button. John
Hi. You can connect Core to BeoSound 5 with something like this Behringer UFO202 U-phono USB Audio Interface www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B002GHBYZ0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_IygBCbHY9QZK6. It plugs into the USB on BeoMaster 5 and lets you use A.AUX. The Core is controlled via the app, BeoRemote One BT can also change volume and track up and down. You can also replace BeoSound 5 with Core and plug the speakers directly into it. Depends how much you will use or want to keep BS5 with the functionality of BeoSound Core. Hope this helps. John.
Nooooooo… Not a LG! Anyway, thanks for the explanations. The BeoSound Core had me intrigued. I might buy it now if I find the cable to connect it to my vintage BeoSound 3200.

I could see this making an unobtrusive rear channel if you didn’t want in-wall speakers for whatever reason.
Why are some people so snobbish about B&O products? To me you cant get better sound or technology anywhere else! The cost? So what!
Plus this plasticky looking empty box does not come with any remote and needs an expensive new bluetooth remote.
