- Check out this sterling silver and celluloid pen from Montegrappa! This pen is a loaner, and it'll be going back to Kenro soon. I'll be sorry to see this stunner leave my desk.
I don't have a specific vendor to send you to, as this came via the brand's distributor, so find it at your favorite retailer. You might want to hurry, though.

*This pen was loaned out for review by the distributor. That doesn't change my reviews in any way I can detect. Your mileage may vary, what you see is what you get, etc.*
Thank you, Mike. Very nice. The fiuttings and the cellulose are lovely.
Judging from the colors you listed, this red sounds like the best option - this one is beautiful!
I can't wait for the review of the Mamba!
I think it is the best looking one, but I've only seen one other, so I can't say for sure. The Mamba is coming! Never Fear.
Excellent review! I grabbed one in blue with a Fine Flex nib off of the Bottom Shelf at Goulet. I love the feel in my hands -the celluloid and the silver is such an awesome combo. I just sit and stroke it. But the nib has just the merest touch of baby’s bottom, exacerbated by my print rather than cursive style. And like you I’m not a big flex writer-am a lefty w a writing position the mirror of yours. I love the pen so much that I was thinking of buying a second, in red, in a non-flex nib, which is why I watched this review. I’m glad I did because the red isn’t the same shade as it looks in photos and I’m picky about my reds. So you’ve saved me the bother of buying one only to return it. But the blue one I have is a GREAT pen (obviously, if I was thinking/fantasizing of plunking down for a second one!)and I’ll maybe just get a touch of work done on it at the DC show. Inking it w a Monteverde ink makes it wet enough to minimize the hard starts in the meantime. . Or maybe I’ll just try writing in cursive when using this pen.
I really liked the feel, and I’m glad you found one in a good price. The Red was perfect for me, but I’m glad I helped you avoid a return if you’re not into that color. Also, one of our family names is Barr (it’s my middle name), so maybe we’re related!?
Mike Matteson could be :-). I know nothing about the Barr side of the family. Immediate relations from PA but that's all I know.
Your orange watch is a scene stealer
Hey, finally a new beard-o opening, and with the neon logo. Congratulations, and I'm glad you got your energy back up after the cold and the holidays.
As for the pen, well, lovely to look at and probably a decent writer, but it doesn't light my fire somehow. Call me crazy.
Thanks! It’s probably safer for the wallet that it doesn’t light your fire. :)
Those cap threads remind me of 1950's era Sheaffer pens like the Snorkels. Oh, and thanks for including the Pocket Depth measurement :) I wish other folks would include that one.
What color is that from the plat 3776?!?
Mike, it's a makers mark stamp and a hallmark on the cap band, not engraving. VI is for VICENZA, one of the Italian provinces, where this part was made.
Ah! Thanks for the information!
Plastic or ebonite feed?
It’s the standard plastic JoWo feed.
Mike Matteson Plenty good enough.
6:34 What ink did you use?
You know, I can't remember. I sort of think it is Papier Plume "The Blues", but I didn't write it down so I can't be sure.
@@inkdependence Looks really nice. I'll look into that Papier Plume.
