Gears 5 is a game. That's about the most interesting thing I can come up with to describe it. It's just a game, neither bad nor exceptional. Just a game created by people who didn't seem like they had much interest in making it. Here are its sins.

Stock Laura Bailey character is having Stock Laura Bailey character problems. You'd think after a couple of decades in the business they'd give the woman some variety, but nah.

Have you ever heard of Persona or Cathrine? Maybe Sonic Generations or Fire Emblem Awakening. Final Fantasy XIII? There are plenty of roles where she's played some very different characters.
Yeah, those games totally aren't filled with sarcastic 20 somethings(or the vague equivalent) with dad issues. Lucina might actually be one of the most Laura Bailey characters there is because yes I played that.
Bailey herself complains about the type casting. I doubt either of us know more about her usual role than she does.
Bloodrayne. Though her character did have to kill her dad in the second one, but that was just due to him being an evil asshole then anything else.
Kainé from NieR is amazing.
I wanted to rant about the story and I figured this was the place. Kaits connection to the locust could have driven the story SO far compared to what they did. Not to mention that the original plan was to start hitting the swarm where it hurts, instead they use it to fend off a mass attack. I can kind of understand why, but there really should have been more to the story rather than just fending off a mass attack and meeting a new queen.
Two words. Sequel baiting.
I kinda hoped that when Kait learned of her connection she had to fight the zombie queen for control after she learned of kaits plan to make peace with the swarm and that the only swarm who followed Kait was the Matriach and the grubs in the building. That would have been sick as hell. Also I hate the matriach flaw design.

I mean I do like playing as JD at the beginning because it truly shows his change after the hammer killed Lizzie and almost killed him.

Another cliffhanger. Time to wait a couple more years. Hopefully, we'll see a return to 4-player co-op & a fifth Act, like in the previous Spark Plug games.
4 player campaign was a cool thing, sad that I didn't have anyone to play with.

@Pte Bloggins Ah... I actually enjoyed the previous Gears games. I like this one as well, but would just like to see some traditions return when the next installment releases.
Also, I'm not so sure if you spend "half" the time looking for them. You don't have to be in that store for very long if you know what you're doing. Besides, you're the COG. You're meant to help people out.
Being a huge car nerd and selling auto parts for a living… hearing you reference the other games as common engine components is absolutely golden.
The next game will be called Camshaft 6.
"JD's actions which involved firing a laser.. blah blah... were rewarded with a promotion" is actually pretty consistent with the COG as an authoritarian regime.
The "Settlement 2" thing didn't actually just crop up out of nowhere. It was referenced several times in Gears 4.
Does it suggest that the beginning part is a prequel to Gears of war 4? Cause i dont think that makes much sense

They didn't actually leave Reyna's body connected to the hive. The novel that bridges the gap between the end of 4 and 5 apparently describes them burying her body and sealing the grave. However how she's brought "back to life" and has Myrrah's consciousness.. that's obviously fuzzy.
Probably the swarm having an temporary alpha general like in the fourth game and they found Reyna body and reconnected her.
Also don't forget the swarm is like a hive mind with every single locust having their subconscious connected so Myrrah to og locust queen could have had the sams
Nope doesn't count, we don't insist players read novels to plug holes in the games story, that's piss poor writing

Well, he was just banking the footage right now for a future video when the releases are slow, so while an EWW San Andreas video is likely coming, it'll probably be at least a short while.
San Andreas and 5 propably will be the longest. GTA 4 is awsome imo then SA , VC , VCS

They did explain that the Hammer of Dawn rockets they used were old prototypes so of course they’d need extra steps to use
8:43 Could have put the Queen's dna in the system so she can come back of she ever decided to return. Based on AI Niles later dialogue, it doesn't sound like he was opposed to what Myrrha was doing. And he tried to continue her work by tricking Kait into resurrecting Rena using the Matriarch's psychic powers, so he seems more likely taking part in it. We also hear that Kait's grandfather worked for Niles, so he'd probably also leave clearance linked to his DNA as well.

IAmFusion having the rights to something is the same as owning it, it’s only on Xbox because Microsoft owns it, if epic owned it it would be on pc, they just developed it

They did bury Reyna in the comics,after kait killed her, delta squad had a proper funeral for her but the swarm found where her body was and took it
If they can just take back a dead body and use it as a new queen, why didn't they take the first queen's body? That thing was still in tact and just left behind.
The swarm didn't appear till like 15 years after gears 3, body was probably too decomposed and myraahs conscience was in the hive mind, so they just needed a body that was connected, plus after the pulse went out, the tower was destroyed I think

Had to be one thats connected to the hive, hence why during gears 5 kait is connected to it, same ordeal, the body has to be connected to the hive, and as reyna was dead and her body was still intact, they could just twist reynas mind in the hive or put myraahs mind in it
I'm surprised you haven't sinned Control yet, I've heard there's a lot wrong with it, like good boss fights being the sidequests

At 5:20 you say this was just “introduced” out of no where, but the drama with settlement 2 started in gears 4, and this was finally letting us know what happened, so no..it wasn’t out of nowhere

@DarkSonic180 um no. Cinemasins gets most of its charm by trying to point out objective mistakes to be sinnable. They nitpick but largely stick to faults we can visually see. This guy is predominantly just spouting out a list of things he subjectively didn't like. If he wants to do that he should just turn this into a review site

It doesn't push the 3rd person cover shooter genre further, and instead they just made a level thats an open world for the sake of it.
I liked this video and overall how it turned out. This was fun.

This series kinda died with me from the 3rd game. Sad keeping in mind the fact that I liked it.

4 was a decent game, but overall, nothing special. Gears 5 didn't have to surpass anything amazing to be the best since the original 3.
It was a good game, but saying "its the best since 3" doesn't equate to saying it is up there with the originals.
I get you like the game, so do I, but being the best since 3 is something each new game has done. Judgement was the best since 3 until 4 was out because judgement was all there was. 4 was the best since 3 because it only had to compete with judgement for that spot. Gears 5 is the best since 3, because it was the first entry since 3 to try to spread it's wings and evolve the formula.

I doubt Marcus could clear up the locust origins. He went to New Hope for mapping data - or info about his father.. I don't remember. However, I do know for certain it was NOT to figure out where the Locust came from. In Gears 1-3, where they came from was irrelevant, the concern was getting rid of them.
Now Chairman Prescott - HE might have been able to clear that up, but since he died in 3... IIRC even Hoffman notes that he was completely unaware of New Hope until right before Marcus was sent there.

Regarding the room full of computers that were necessary for nothing:
Rocket launches aren't just about launching the rocket. A launch includes weather checks, ATC checks, navigational redundancies, guidance checks, capsule communications officers, flight surgeon verification checks, and a whole room full of people at their own terminals all running go/no-go checks in succession. In theory, Yes, a rocket launch COULD remove most of those people, especially when launching an empty rocket or a bare payload, and you Could remove the redundant systems without screwing everything up, especially when patching in a computer built 25 years into the future that can do the work of the full crew all on its own.

i never did like dell or kait being pissy about what JD did in settlement two, if people are throwing fucking firebombs at you, why shouldnt you be allowed to shoot them? or is potentially burning alive prefereble to not doing collateral?
also, to be fair, faze's gun takes time to power up and fire and he probably knew that the snatcher would just shrug off those few rounds he could fire

Laughing and crying while watching this. I’m a huge fan of Gears 1, 2, and 3. I had fun playing gears 4 campaign but only the campaign.
Part at 16:44 glitched several times for me & I was left shooting the brumak to death (10mins of turret fire) just to see it die & absolutely nothing happen. Reloaded & shot it for another 5 mins then the cutscene triggered
You made some good points in the video, but your sin about the "hammer of dawn needing beacons to fire" was explained in the game, you either forgot or wasn't paying attention
6:03 And since you are going to do Scene Manipulation and not show the previous part of the scene, I will have to explain to your audience that you are lying to them. After taking out the Swarmaks and Drones with the Hammer of Dawn, the satellite was malfunctioning and Baird lost control which made the Hammer of Dawn go haywire and resulted in the death of Elizabeth Carmine and JD getting injured in the process.
So no, JD taking his armor off to make the Satellite lose track of him won’t stop the Hammer of Dawn from going crazy, also I don’t think a soldier would take off their Armor while fighting in the battlefield.

You should aducate yourself in the lore of the series as a whole before making these videos the amount of assumptions you made were just cringy, Carmine isn't a random soldier with a direct line to the prime minister and it's pretty clear why they're in a hurry to get the hammer online. I won't go into spoilers but there are a lot more erros made in the video, if you know you know.
They've kept the glue to cover system because that was an iconic part of gears and people loved it. Not sure why people want every shooter to be the same
Settle down fanboy, when you have the same button to roll as the button to get into cover sometimes you get into cover when you are trying to roll. Just remap the button and it should be fine. Gears 5 isn't about the war, it's about Kait's mission to discover her connection to the hive and sever it. That's why the "of war" part was dropped.

DarkSonic180 he thinks that Marcus already knew everything and sent Kait to the labs for no reason yet it's explained that he sent them there to stop her headaches and her link to the locust. Her finding out the truth was just something she has to witness since she didn't trust the cog herself which she says throughout the game
@DarkSonic180 he didn't know for sure that myrrah was her grandmother and it wasn't about finding the truth about her lineage. It was to help her fix her link to the locusts. Not to mention if she hadn't gone they wouldn't have ever found out about the new queen

Marcus sends kait to the lab because seeing the symbol on his pendant he thinks that kait can find answers to new hope. In addition to the answers kait hopes to find a way to detach his connection to the hive (headaches / nightmares / visions derive from this connection). This connection was used to transform kait into the new queen of the locusts, so the fact that they go there to try to solve this problem does not seem a bad motivation to me.

I plan on playing Code Vein and Astral Chain but I gotta say do Code Vein first. I want to see some jabs at Ufotable Animation for collaborating with some writers that don't seem to have anywhere of the same caliber.

The biggest sin of this game is you choosing to kill Del instead of JD
The campaign sucked big time. Act 1 was pointless back story to make us dislike JD (if we didn't already). Act 2 was decent as it was going into Kaits bloodline, then after they seperate from the Matriarch, they just forget about Kaits story and its about beacons. There should have been an Act 5 where we finally tackle the Hive
Not gonna lie, I honestly thought he was calling Paduk Buduke. 😅
This game play HAS to be captured on an original Xbox 1 or 1 S.
