Underrated Strauss composition. Predates the nocturne by 3 opus numbers, and the first horn concerto by 7 opus numbers. Compositionally it shows off his nuanced understanding of counterpoint, at a young age. Fantastic performance! The suite should be played more!

I’ve always thought the syncopated oboe melody to be the most hauntingly beautiful melody.
