Fun fact: Taylor got the inspiratiom for the song from the movie “Someone Great” and the director later emailed Taylor and said that she was listening to Clean while writing the movie. It’s a fantastic movie.
Taylor wrote this song because after watching the movie it gave her nightmares. She could not stop watching it. She worried that she would not be able to give Joe her time and commitment given how busy her career can be when she starts a new album, promos, interviews, press interviews, photo shoots, world tour, ect. I feel like this song is for the anxious. The song doesn't point to the events of the past, but acknowledges the anxiety of losing the person who you're deeply in love with. The anxiety which makes you think, imagine, and feel things of how it'll be like saying goodbye to the person you don't want to say goodbye to ever. Maybe because its the anxiety of losing someone you don't wanna lose- may it be a friend, family, or a lover- that I, or maybe a lot of peolple, really relate to.

That's guitar..
Diana k There’s a piano piece during the chorus. And it is amazing.
If this album is really the old Taylor comeback... Then hey Tay, we've missed you so much!
This is neither Old Taylor nor New Taylor. This is a Happy Taylor who finally found her Lover.
First of all there isn't even an old nor a new taylor
so well written.....'if the story is over why am I still writing pages!'...'trying to find a part of me you didn't touch'
THE BRIDGE AND LYRICS IN THIS ARE EVERYTHING. WHY ARE YALL SLEEPING ON IT SJDJSKSKSKS 😭
1 decade of being a swiftie. Becoming one on junior high when I was a transferred student and faced bullying. Her songs help me survived the rough time. Today I'm a bachelor of engineering, and still listen to her songs on daily basis. Crazy how time flies and she's still a LIVING LEGEND.
Speak Now: This love is ours
Lover: And what once was ours is no one's now
I really feel that the razor's edge cuts my heart a thousand times 😭💔
Ik!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😢😢😢
this is one of the most beautiful songs EVER. it’s on my TS top five.
wait this album is becoming my favorite sorry 1989 😭
Nicole Morris - Same! I feel like “Lover” is “1989’s” older sister!
Same ma’am
I love that but reputation has IDSB and is my fav song of her
Nicole Morris same 😭😭
OMG SAME A LOT HAHAA
I think that this song has the best lyrics off the album. Every line is platinum and this deserves a Grammy.
I'm in a happy relationship and this song gave off a WHOLE breakup mood I am in tears
Same xD
SAME!!!
Same 😂 makes me imagine that some ex left me
SAME
Mikaela Lindsey my ex left me the day before this song came out oof 💀
lover really hits different for everyone now
wdym
@@tnxnext because the lover album is about her ex-boyfriend joe alwyn
all the swifties appreciated the relationship so it was heartbreaking for some when they broke up. because of this the album 'lover' is very unlike when they first listened to it, back when taylor and joe were still together. because taylor's muse for this album is no longer her lover it makes some feel sad o hear it again.
I will never get used to the sound of Taylor's voice. She's just so so perfect. I love you so much Tay❤️❤️❤️
Edit: I can't believe I got over 500 likes!! Thank you guys so much!!
She said this song was inspired by “Someone Great” on Netflix and my heart is just torn replaying Nate and Jenny’s love in my mind 😩🤧
Nate and Jenny from Someone Great! The movie on Netflix! 🥺
And the fact that SOMEONE GREAT was inspired by 1989!!! the director said so! Especially the song CLEAN inspired the film so much!!
«Trying to find a part of me that you didn’t touch» man that’s deep
This song encouraged me to say goodbye to him. I'll be all right
I hope you’re doing better :)
So how is it now?
@@banestpa mucho mejor. Gracias :)
Oh my gosh. The clouds moving slowly in the back are so aesthetically pleasing. 😍😍😍
Dulce Annahy Rivera IKRRRR
I DIDN'T EVEN NOTICE UNTIL I READ THIS COMMENTTTT
I didn't even notice
I can't *JUST* pick one in this beautiful album
These lyrics totally blew me away.. I love how she can capture the most complex emotions in her music, it makes me feel so understood :,)
*I cant stop thinking about that line in New Romantics when Taylor said*
_The Rumors are terrible and cruel, but honey most of them are true_ 💔

Taylor give us time to remember all the lyrics !!
We ned to take a minute to appreciate not just Taylor's voice, but the producers who made the music! Love Taylor Swift!
This is absolutely the most underrated and the best break up song EVER.
5 years later and still loving her music. The lover era is the era that made me a swiftie. This is my favorite song from the album.
0:40 I really love this part. !
SAME
Every note she hits is angelic, she is an angel.
You are the best, you rise above the rest.
Why is lover so underrated ? 😢 it's in my top albums
It's not though?
@@jarodon6511 It is though. Some Swiffers act edgy thinking it's cool to hate lover 🙂
Same
@@zzzzzzz8493 they also think its cool to hate 1989 - when its basically the best album, as it has my #2, 3, 4 songs
@@lucashayes9191 also red for some reason???
This song has the best bridge ever
I was literally singing along to the lyrics “I ask the traffic lights if it will be alright they said I don’t know” and at that exact moment the street lights around me all turned on. Taylor is magic
The bridge of this song bridges the gap in my heart and takes me to heaven.
This song is another level of taylor’s songwriting! Its truly underrated.
Yeah!😢💙This is a masterpiece!
Taylor is so smart it scares me. Truly a musical genius.
