I have both of these jpm, they play so fluid its unreal,I have a video of me meeting up with john at one of his clinics a few years ago and I took this guitar for him to sign but he decides to plug it in and play the ytse jam on it then signs it and gives me a pack of his strings and a bag of plectrums.very cool day that was
I have a MarkV 90w that he used/signed at a clinic he gave in my city, I bought it on the spot after the clinic was done, it’s one of my prized possessions and I’ll never part with it
The ibanez JP signatures are one of the coolest signatures ever made. The aesthetic on them are so cool. His tone in this era was more crunchy and raw while his tone now is butterly smooth. These go for insane prices. Would love to own one.
I think his tone depended more on how he dialed his amp, the pickups do change something but not that much. I personally prefer his current tone, I feel it's one of the most versatile tomes ever. You can play almost anything from pink Floyd to chugging and it works. Also, it makes the guitar sound like it's crying in a good way.
It is the steves special. Amazing pickup, it is a ceramic magnet but only medium output. My kiesel lithium has almost the same amount of attack and precense but the steves special is more scooped and the growl is in it's precense frequencies as opposed to a mid spike.
@@AndresGarcia-qk3sj the classic iic+ was way better in my opinion. Channel 1 and 2 is awesome on the jp2c. The second channel reminds me of the gain you could get on the clean channel of the originals and the cascading circuit. Pull deep is always on in the new amps though and I feel like on my mesa no stripe it tracks better and comes alive through a mic with the pull deep off but my power section is different than the simul class 100 watts. Still has the original iic+ transformers though. Also I have heard the tube compliment is not the same in preamp section, but the iib, iic, and iic+ models seemed like they were never each the same in regards as what was in the preamp between individual models or builds.
@@SHREDTILLDEAD You do realize that even inside those generations of amps there are differences in how they sound? No two amps sound the same. Besides, the circuit didn't change that much between the iterations - so it is much more likely to attribute the tonal differences to the actual variance of the particular amps that you played rather than the models. At least by reading the schematics and comparing them one to one, the impact of part value variations has a rather broad potential for sound impact. The circuit changes by comparison are rather limited in their influence (but very specific of course).
@@patrickh.1658 Yeah. But I’m just saying it’s cool that he’s not afraid to show off a good guitar built by one of his competitors. And now that he’s found success making his own guitars, he’s still maintaining that integrity.
Petrucci when he was using a P2 and sporting the curly long hair and exposed chest was on the top of the world then. To Live Forever live in Tokyo is one of the most mind boggling solos ever seen.
I own the P2 now and it is an amazing guitar. The P1-Primary colors. The P2-Pastels. I got to meet JP at NAMM in 2013 and he said the P2 was his favorite out of all the color schemes. I get offers all the time to sell mine but its hard to part with. I had mine set up at the Ibanez facility in Bensalem by Steve who used to be JP's road tech during the Ibanez days and he set up to JP's specs. I'm the only owner since 1996. Mint condition too. The prices go for around $3-3500 now and depending on the collector even as high as $6500.
Hey man! Actually the "Shred" switch it's not meant to shred so to speak, it's like a 3k ish bump to play with 7 or 8 strings so the lower notes jump off a bit. So that's totally normal you don't like it to play leads cause it adds highs. :D
My favorite electric guitar of all time. I had a beautiful P3 in the past and, just like you, I sold it to buy something else… Lost, but not forgotten: now a beautiful 90HAM is in my hands.
I love my JPM100 P1. My video on it is one of my most popular as well. There’s just a certain vibe and feeling it has that really inspires me to play and practice.
I think that is the best guitar Ibanez ever made. I have had a butt load of ibanez guitars, all Japan made and the JPM was by far the best of them. Thanks for vid Ola, wishing you and your family a stellar new year.
One thing I love about the JPM is how Ibanez moved the volume knob just a little further away from the bridge than your standard RG so that it's out of your way.
90s Ibanez are so nice. Just had my RG770 PN from 92 fixed at musikbörsen and even though I just play 10 times a year what a dream it is now....and I have never been able to sell it. think I shold try it now:)
I remember playing one of these back in the day was really nice to say the least. I remember getting a job to save up for one but by the time I had the money they no longer carried the JP . Awesome video
I'm not a Dream Theater fan as well. But I can say that Petrucci is an amazing guitar player, love his solo albums. I started listening to Fates Warning again this year after having not thought of them for a couple of decades, and my reaction was "holy shit! This is a likable version of Dream Theater" although they have been around longer. It's all just individual taste, no accounting for it.
@Zombie Frogg Nah, all the instrumental parts are boring as shit too. If I wanna hear that sorta music, I'll put on Rush and Pink Floyd at the same time. It'll still sound better than Dream Theater. Petrucci is awesome though, love his amp and he seems to be a stand-up human being.
i had p2 and p4 back in the days when they were like $1300 used. it was alright guitars, so i thought i expected too much and sold'em all. then later, i've got chances to try out some prestige models which called not by the same name but j-customs these days, they were very different, and i've using for more than a decade now.
I still consider John an Ibanez player.. Infact I bought this same guitar 25 years ago as I was and I still am in love of it. I just wanted it so bad that I played it for a quarter of century all the way long.
