I'll say it before and again and again: These interviews are INVALUABLE in offering a glimpse into the places of the world few will ever travel. I'm so glad you take the time to do them. Just think what these will be one day perhaps 100 or more years into the future when we are all no longer here. When the idea of creating content to generate sustenance will one day seem feeble in comparison to the wealth of information you've provided. They are personal in a way larger budget documentaries cannot be. I feel privileged to be amongst the first to see them and have no doubt that the masses will catch on. Many years ago, it took one viral video if yours popping up in my feed to discover what the both of you were all about. I've never missed an episode since then and I've always been greeted with something honest, intelligent, kind and insightful (sometimes humorous). Your format always reminded me of a more personal, in-depth and internationally expanded version of Charles Kuralt's "On the Road."
A side note, I watch a youtube channel of someone who provides very early footage of "talkies" from the 1930s. In that time, nearly 90 years ago, they had the foresight, with the technology of film and sound being linked, to seek out some of the oldest people they could find and talk to them about their world. These were people born in the 1840's still living in the 1930's! Those who made the films could have had no way of knowing the format they would one day find themselves on nor be able to understand the millions of people they would one day reach. The idea that the physical film camera would become a very literal port into the distant future that millions would stare back through. To me that's poetic and the true wealth of the information they provided. I view your work similarly.

I lived in Paamiut as a child about 23 years ago. Here I experienced racism firsthand. I was born in Greenland, but because my parents were Danish and I could not really speak or understand Greenlandic, I was persecuted and assaulted on an almost daily basis. It didn’t help that my school principal had told stories of past incidents where kids had killed each other, so safe to say I feared for my life and had to fight for it. In the winter I could at least use the long dark hours of the day to sneak around and hide so I wouldn’t get ganged up on. At home I would often wake up at night, disturbed by the sounds of screams and violence from our surrounding neighbors. I feel sorry for some of the children involved in these hateful acts, especially those who were victims or products of incest and domestic violence. Today I suffer from PTSD and anxiety, and often have panic attacks as a result of my experience.
Could you give us more insight into your experience and Greenland in general?
Helga is so articulate. Would be so interesting to have heard more of her story. Still fascinating.

Would have also enjoyed knowing their thoughts on how Greenlanders can reconcile the benefits of a significant local oil industry against anthropogenic climate change given Greenland is being so directly affected. And also that few of the jobs created by oil exploration and mining are filled by locals.
In most of the US you can walk into a store and buy a rifle at age 21. Iceland and Greenland are sparcely populated and part of why they have lower crime is believe it or not. because of they have less pollution. Lead poisoning is the what I believe is the largest cause of the development of sociopathology. The DOJ and other countries done studies connecting Lea poisoning of small children to developing into a sociopaths. The frontal lobe of the brain doesn't develop properly by age 7 and is believed to the cause of sociopathology.
This is why crime rates plummeted one generation a after leaded gas was no longer available in the USA. England's crime rate plummeted 5 years later because they had lead in their gas 5 years later than the USA. That's why NYC Chicago Los Angeles etc had much higher crime rates than rural areas. Less cars less exhaust pollution. Plus it cities the buildings slow winds. Wind drives pollution away. My rant is over.
It's the satellites! The government put satellites in space to control our brains (and the weather), they've turned up the dials on lunacy, dementia and sociopathy lately

Imagine that, a country with no gun control, and little to no crime! If only the climate as a little warmer ...
That was a strange amount of questions and reaction on guns. Why do you act so surprised Drake?
it is sad to hear that they are hoping for more oil and mining industry ... kind av sad , but that's how humans are...
I always find this to be an interesting dilemma. Oil certainly is unpopular, especially amongst those of us who support the idea of being better caretakers of this blue dot we inhabit. That said, I've always found a duality in the sentiment. What I mean is that most of us do not want to "drill baby drill" but most of us also drive petrol or diesel cars. Most of us travel by air, or via modes that are linked to oil. Most of us buy groceries, goods and use currier services that consume oil to get from where they originated to where they are sold. Most of us use, consume and throw away plastics which are derived from oil. So while I agree, that I do not want to see oil industries taking over pristine places like Greenland, I cannot help but look in the mirror and see myself to blame as a reluctant consumer of oil. I feel the burning of fuel (love it or despise it) has become a necessity to sustain the lives of convenience we as humans take for granted today. The international discussions I'd like to see happening would discuss the most pragmatic, practical and sensical paradigm shifts we could be enacting right now to reduce the need for oil consumption -- so that it is used only in faculties where no viable alternatives are available. If the world came together and put our scientific minds to use, I have high hopes that we may be able to discover more practical ways of storing electricity and creating it. If that were the case, oil would go the way of coal as a useful commodity.

I look just like Greenlandic people but I’m half Chinese. Are Greenlandic people considered to be white?
They are mostly Inuit , very similar to Native Americans but do have a European influence as it is governed by Denmark
No they are not considered white or European although they have been exposed to European culture through Denmark
But how come Denmark sends half a billion every year to Greenland?? Why and for what? And do they actually need all that money or is it a lie? Something is fishy about this.
Denmark pays money to Greenland and also Faroe Islands for many reasons. We talk a lot more about this in these other Greenland interviews

when Nordsmen settled Greenland there were 0 inuits in Greenland, they came 300 years later from Canadian island, so move those colonists out of Greenland and leave the island free from people

@@saulsavelis575 If you look up the Icelandic chronicles of Erik the red and his son Leif Erikson, it says they came in connect and fought with Inuits while living in Greenland around 1000 ce.
