- Many People in India think today that Education in India was Introduced by the British and this is because of the Lack of proper Education given to Indians of it's Past. Once upon a time there were Universities in India which taught various scientific and philosophical subjects in sanskrit and students from the whole world used to Travel to India to learn. But that is a different topic for another Video. This Videa shows you exactly How the British Government who ruled India imposed their English Education System on India and successfully destroyed India's Existing Education Culture. Yes, India did have a very Vast Scaled Education System and Literacy Percentage of Indians in the 19th Century was pretty high before the British put their nose into the education sector. This is been recorded in British India's Survey that there were lakhs and lakhs of schools all over India where students learnt various subjects, girls and boys learnt together and even the Shudras and Brahmins Studied together. Video further proceeds you to understand how strategically the British used the Elite Class Indians to stoop the Indian Public and wiped out the Indian Education System Completely from India. Resulting which stands such a generation of India who do not take any pride in Ancient Cultural Books and Heritages of India and is more inclined towards Western culture and tries to look onto themselves through western eyes. I don't understand why we did not DECOLONIZE ourselves. When even Americans did. They did not even have a common language that was spoken by all of the American people. Yet they strived to de colonize. We ruined the efforts of people like Sir sayyed. We need more minds who want to battle slavery.

The Americans only decolonized themselves in government and stuff, and pretended to decolonize themselves in other aspects; many of the British practices and institutions are still alive and well in the US. After all, it is essentially a country made by British immigrants. For example, they still use US customary units (which came from Olde English Units), common law, and even the English language. They changed the spelling to "US spelling", which is stupid and only used by people from the US, but changing a few letters around doesn't mean you've decolonized yourself or have invented anything new.

Agreed! So unfortunate that many of our generations are deep till neck into English. At this time and age, we should keep stressing everyone to learn and respect our regional and national languages, and also learn English for international businesses or work. We should make English as our 2nd language in Indian schools, colleges, if possible, offices. Sometimes I think, same thing happened to our dressing style. Why do I have to wear western dress to office or anywhere official. I think all that should and is changing slowly. Let's see.

Coming from northern ruler India with basic education started there and finished higher education in Mumbai. From Hindi to English it was literally a life changing journey. Always thought English language would give the sense of intellectual. But now having seen so much of the Western culture I have come back to my culture. I didn't think I would come across someone's content which would match my sentiments. So thank you! Also, I have been speaking Hindi and would have loved typing my response in Hindi but my keyboard isn't that friendly.
