- Took my first fall on gear! Yes, it wasn't a massive trad lead whip. But it was something. This little fall gives me confidence to be able to take one of these said whips. The goal is still to not fall. But developing confidence is deff key!
An easily underestimated route. There are two variations, either starting left (better protected) or right (harder). Both are worth while but you will understand the name if you climb either. The entire route climbs two giant and precariously stacked boulders. The one below the anchors will give you a chuckle or fill your trousers.
Thanks for taking me out! Had a great time on such a great route.😊
Hey, thank you for the support. Had a blast myself! 😊😊😊
I first climbed this route back in May of 1979 when I was a senior in high school. We walked up to the base of it, started to put our packs down and I noticed one of the 2 partners I had that day was standing directly over, straddling, a 3 foot copper head. Looking around, 2 more were balled up in the cracks directly in front of the belayer. Everybody stopped, and we spotted two more on the ground. Getting a stick, managed to move them all back out down slope. That 9+ rating means a little more than just the technical difficulty of the crux on this climb.
@@trippcollins6118 wow! I haven’t even seen a snake yet. That’s scarier than climbing. Haha. It’s also very cool you climbed this 10 years before I was born. 😂 I’ve been climbing for 1.5 years now. So cool to see more of the history of this area.
@@NCTradLines Hyperbola had a resident copperhead called Big George back in the day ('79-80, maybe Jeep Gaskin can speak to that, but the word was at the time, watch out for that MoFo if you climb this route). I came back in '90 to be the climbing instructor at a local summer camp and maybe it was Big George or the son thereof who had setup residence in the same place. 10 inches off my nose when I completed the the direct start, my down climbing skills came in way handy....
@@trippcollins6118hahaha. You didn’t know the secret passcode for him to allow you by?
@@NCTradLines No passcode, you are on the snakes turf, not the other way 'round.
@@trippcollins6118 this is true. You’ve gotta respect the nature!
great send
Thanks!!
I was proud. Hehe
correct me if I'm wrong, but when you set up an anchor with two draws, they are supposed to be opposed.
@@RileyxRopes They are opposed if you look again, just gates facing eachother is all, super good enough.
@@RileyxRopes they are opposed!
But are they opposite and opposed?? 😅
It’s fine the way it is. I believe…
