Ex-Cast Member here. I once rode the cast member bus and chatted with a woman whose full-time job was to make replacement costumes for animatronics; apparently, when your arm makes the same motion all day long every day, you tend to wear the same spot out on your clothes rather fast.
On the Etsy thing, a fun fact about Buena Vista Street at DCA is that most of the model trains on display were purchased at a model train show at the Anaheim Convention Center! Also, Imagineers have confirmed that the stuck Louis animatronic is indeed intended as a direct reference to Br’er Bear’s Br’er Butt.
I Miss everything Disney, I’m praying that all the talk of the Florida Governor are just rumors because he was wanting to force FL Disney to do things they have not had to do ever that include finances
While I’m excited for the ride, I’m bummed Dr. Facilier isn’t gonna be part of it. I would’ve loved it if as you make your way up to the drop, it plays Friends On The Other Side as he sings “are you ready?” as a buildup and a call out as if he’s asking the riders if they’re ready for the big drop.
if anyone asks I’m NOT currently writing DISNEY IMAGINEERING in marker on a stack of folding tables and driving to the Lakeland Antique Mall. In case anyone asks.
At 6:13 they have the full Zazu animatronic from Tiki Room Under New Management! I don't think that's been seen since the ride had the fire- I wonder what else they saved!
I'm just glad that The Princess and The Frog is getting more representation since the film didn't do as well as Disney hoped, and I saw the film back in 2009 with one of my friends and her little sister when I was 11 years old.
@@ethanshackletonAgreed. It's pretty difficult to have a dead person there. If this were taking place during the film, the Doctor Favilier would definitely be in it.
The The Etsy thing remind me of my cosplay friend saying. "If you can buy if for less then making it. do it." same idea can apply when it come to quality of somethings.
Have a look in the video of The Candleman, for Rolly Crump's Museum of the Weird attraction. This will likely be a prop, along with other Museum of the Weird items, in the gift shop now under construction. The Museum of the Weird attraction was approved by Walt Disney but canceled when Walt passed away. Seeing these items return is very exciting for me.
The red/green lights are a stack light monitor. They are standard in industrial setting. Other colors are available to add if you need more than just on/off. They are inexpensive, easy to get, and simple to program.
those mystery heads you said might be rapunzel and flynn. I think the head to the right, looking at the camera looks more like Hans from Frozen which would also line up with the Tokyo ride but wouldn't OLC be building those, vs Burbank's Imagineering? 🤔Than chin screams Hans to me.. Also, that MLP plush is 100% Trixie Lulamoon... Good call, Dan. 🤣
We all noticed the big deal stuff in these videos, but thank you for highlighting the cool smaller stuff for us. I personally got a kick out of seeing Zazu from the Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management days lol
Appreciating all the freeze framed details. On the list of animatronics it looks like they are not including the animal band members, could this be that they are being done by another company like Garner Holt while these more elaborate figurure are in-house?
My gay ass is SO gay, when I watched this Imagineering video the first time, I said, who is that female head on the shelf, it kinda looks like CHER! But I just thought my gay eyes were seeing Cher because they wanted to see Cher. LOL 🤣🤣🤣 Thank you Dan for confirming my gadar was spot on.
I wasn't sure about this ride at first, but now it seems pretty cool. Since I've been getting more interested in animatronics (Curse you, Freddy Fazbear!) I love the way these ones move! It's so fluid and life-like! I do wish they had Facilier in the ride. He would've been great!
I’m pretty sure hydraulic animatronics of the past would be able to push a person too. These new animatronics just move a lot faster and more precisely
For me it’s not shocking that they use Etsy (I’ve seen people I’m in groups with get Etsy orders from TV show prop people, for example) but what gets me is that we’re sticking animatronics in actual lace! I’d think that would fall apart in literal days under constant motion and near the water and the potential malfunctions
Perhaps it will be used as the master and WDI Wardrobe will produce replicas for the parks. Because as you note, lace would wear out relatively quickly.
she's also got a knack for using a lot of smoke and mirrors tricks for her shows, which works well when you're an imagineer having to use techniques to hide the behind-the-scenes stuff you don't want the riders to see
The blurry danger signs are similar to attraction backstage signage. Its not so much a warning that Tiana's arm will knock you out, but moreso what type of motion protection protocols should be in place before you approach the AA.
They didn't used to have the lights on the bigger animatronics for safety, I used to work on Toy Story Midway Mania and they just told us to stay at least 8 feet away from Mr. Potato Head at all times bc he had hydraulic arms that could move cars
And idk so much about the Imagineering building, but def on site youve got third-party contractors, overnight matinence, operations team, ride team, etc, so yea chairs and tables often get labeled.
Loving this, just bummed we don’t have the riverboat scene anymore since I thought that was a great tie-in with both the Princess and the Frog movie, the old Splash Mountain, and the real boat in New Orleans square
Omg this made me fall in love with you more and more. I think just like you. The writing on the end of the table. I totally made a comment about that. You are amazing.
Ok, so Mama Odie is in scene 9, where the laughing place was. And Tiana's restaurant is scene 11, where the finale boat was. What's happening in scene 10, where brer fox is about to eat brer rabbit?
I"m just glad Princess and the Frog finally got it's own ride, it's a crime it hasn't until now, and meanwhile Frozen got it's ride almost immediately lol
Hi Dan, this was a fantastic video! I love seeing the behind the scenes of Disney Imagineering, especially seeing how they program the animatronics. The Louis animatronic is really cute, but the skinless one kind of gives me FNAF vibes. But I am super excited to see a Roseate Spoonbill animatronic, they are one of my favorite bird species and I can't wait to see how Disney handles that particular bird.
"Who knows how long this ride will operate"... I give it 6 months. If they had bothered to add Doctor Facilier in the lead up to the big drop with "Are you ready?" playing, it might have lasted a year.
At 11:45 there is a bent over Tiana and Louis in the background. Do you think those are the other 2 AAs or just deactivated versions we have already seen?
I absolutely am looking forward to this ride I think Splash Mountain should’ve stayed the same and (in WDW at least) rethemed Tom Sawyers island instead ❤❤❤ I really really wish Facilier was in the ride though 😢
i'm oddly relieved that there doesn't seem to be many shots of new small animal animatronics - hopefully, that means the old bunch have been repurposed, maybe touched up a little but not replaced. they've been around since at least America sings was opened so it'd be a shame to see them put away forever.
I kinda of think Disney imagineering hates the classic Epcot rides .Like this current group of creatives would hate meaningful rides like Horizons ,World Of Motion , and others
16:15 Kenny and Dan thought they could sneak in Shane McMahon's entrance theme, and no one would notice. I NOTICED IT, DAMN IT! Kenny is not the only WWE mark and Disney fan! 😉
It didn’t occur to me that animatronics are dangerous but it certainly makes sense if you got up too close you would be mercilessly slapped. FNAF was right
Dude, when you are in full on integration mode, folding tables and chairs will make or break your project. I’ve seen fights break out over people stealing another groups tables. No one wants to spend 14 hours debugging code with a laptop balanced on your knees. Hell yeah you label that shit.
I love how Dan knows every single background thing and everyones name but doesn’t know shark head pirate’s name… it’s Maccus…. Put some respect on my boys name! 😂😂😂

Well, Facilier would only be appropriate to see in the last scene of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Ya know, dead and being toasted.
@@QuatroAtYale 🤣 😂 that would be amazing!!
That would be an amazing easter egg!!

At around 6:49 there’s also the “Down in the Licensed Saloon” Bunny Silhouette figure from America Sings !!!
Just noticed that

I'm just glad that The Princess and The Frog is getting more representation since the film didn't do as well as Disney hoped, and I saw the film back in 2009 with one of my friends and her little sister when I was 11 years old.
I’ll tell you this Dan I can imagine what malfunctions these animatronics will have in the future
They should add big daddy to in the party scene
He is one of the main side characters
How can they not have Facilier? Heartbreaking.
He’s pretty dead, given that this takes place after the film.
@@ethanshackletonAgreed. It's pretty difficult to have a dead person there. If this were taking place during the film, the Doctor Favilier would definitely be in it.
Hidden Mickey on Loius chestplate, niiiiiiiice!
I like that they included a Hidden Mickey no one will ever see again.

To be fair, labelling folding tables is easier for inventorying.

Keep your distance when the animatronics are operating. It may be dangerous. Same goes for Disney Dan.
that little hidden mickey implemented into Louis is cute 8:27
