Great video, i think one of the best i ever saw regarding very high impedance stuff! Many thanx for sharing especially that Kelvin´s thunderstorm part :) :)
HI Thanks for this very instructional. I was wondering would an air ion counter with both + and - output reading show the amount of ions being produced?
High voltage rated cable is used by neon sign installers. Ratings vary from 10KV to 20KV. Call around to see if you can purchase some. It's a bit safer than the usual cables rated at 600 volts or 1000 volts.
great video. learned a lot. Questions. What was the measured value of the 5% resistor and did it cause most of the inaccuracy? Partly asking because I know you teach EE and I would expect you'd ask your students:p Also I am genuinely curious. I didn't catch the rated accuracy of the flukes. Love that electrostatic meter. Seriously contemplating making one.
+Mongrel Shark FLuke 85 DC Volts 0.1%. Fluke 867B DC Volts 0.025%. Didn't measure the 300k resistor. I was just testing the operation of the Hi-Z function, not necessarily testing its accuracy.
100% agree on the "old school feeling" I think its because it makes things feel a bit more real somehow. Nice video.
Very impressive! Thanks for sharing this video.

Is that calculator a Chinese Casio clone?
Eric, can you do a "how to calibrate" the electrostatic voltmeter?

0.025% that's very nice!
