- Once season 5 was put on Netflix, I've been rewatching the show with some friends. The rewatch just rejuvenated my love for these two not that my love for them wavered, but binge watching just really makes it different. I love how there's been this theme of them saving each other whether it's on an emotional of physical level. They would do anything for the other.
So I started this video a while back and sort of gave up on it. With finishing my rewatch, I decided to try and finish it up. I needed a longer track to detail Olivia being ride or die for Jake. This still wasn't long enough.

I wish one time that Jake and Olivia did an interview together. I was team Jake all the way. Jake was and should have been Olivia's end game.
You know what, I must agree with you 💯% and I've never watched this series at all. I started watching the tribute videos about 4/maybe 5 days ago, and I have to say, with what little I know about the show, I am with Olake. Firstly, I don't condone infidelity; Secondly, Jake is completely in love w/Olivia and he is willing to give everything up for her; walk away from it all, and walk into the sunshine with her. He definitely should have been endgame! I feel bad for all the initial viewers who vested their time in the show with no solace insight.
But, tv writers know how to play with their viewing public. They know how to hook them in for the ratings. Prey on the hearts, stories that resonate with the people. Play with their heartstrings and emotions, and set them ablaze with a torch, and extinquish the flames so all that remains are the ashes. YUP, that's what they do.

Jake and Liv are both pawns of her evil father. That's why they are both connected by their love and loyalty to each other.
I really loved the 6:25 part. There weren't really any words in that scene but the body language. You could see Jake was scared for his life and Olivia's confidence. Telling him with her eyes that everything is okay and that he only needs to believe in her. And when she placed her hand in his...he took it and moved his head away from the gun....speechless.
I love this couple. She is kinda messed up but he is just perfect. Always there for her even when she dissapoint him. I really hope she leaves Fitz and chooses Jake. They are a team. Equal.

I agree she love him no doubt it not even questionable but she is in love with Fitz that's the different .. Loving is showing care for him and wanting what's best and feeling if he is fine then you are fine. But being in love with someone is letting that person be one with your soul . the well being of that person is not a priority but an instinct of being him . it being ready to do any thing for that person . ready to die and riding for him it doesn't matter who comes and goes but at the end of the day your heart is closed .. Breathing by that person feeling every pain with him saving and sacrificing everything u think is best for him going beyond limits and reaching impossible . that what's the different is and the show explained it. clearly . u can love two people but you can not be in love with two people and people know the answer when say they can't choose they well know what they want and who they want . it impossible to be in love with two people because the pain of being in love is wordless ..

Very powerful video, LOVED IT. I'm a broken record but when it comes to Jake Liv will do ANYTHING for him, and to save his life and soul. It's like when they say don't come between a mama and her cub, that's how Liv seems to be when it comes to Jake. I knew something was up with Liv concerning Jake when she told the morgue guy that she would rather come down and see if Jake's body was there every time. I've wondered about this before but forgot, I wonder after Jake said ILY to Liv the first time what Liv would of said to him when she said "Jake..." before he walked out. I did love when Jake first told Liv he loves her Liv was very emotional and teary eyed, his confession clearly rocked her to her core (like almost everything he does) I also liked that when Liv found out Jake was Command she was very angry and protective over him keeping his soul intact again. When Jake told her he killed James she was destroyed cause she thought she lost him to the dark side and he was becoming her father (I love that scene between them) When Liv told Rowan "If everyone I love is a monster what is the point?" I didn't catch that that neon sign (one of many showing she loves Jake) till later on. Anyway, once again well done. I think you can't outdo yourself and you always do. Your definitely my favorite Olake mvid maker on UA-cam. I put the James Brown cape on you Aspiring Shay lol. Besides the actual episodes your mvids also make anyone still in DENILE about Liv loving Jake and only using him for sex look even more delusional. Liv loves that man and if anyone can't see that their just ignoring the damn facts.
Well said! James Brown cape, indeed!! Lol! Right, in that scene between Olivia and her father, she was referring to Jake when she said, "If everyone I love..." I keep forgetting that myself. Hopelessly in love.
You can be a broken record all day long. I love reading your insight on Liv and Jake. I'm always curious as to what Liv is about to say. She gets cut off all the time. I still want to know what she was going to say in 5.08 before they were interrupted at the WH. I loved how concerned she was about Jake being command. Yes, he was her fake boyfriend to take suspicion off her being a mistress but it was also to make sure he was around and didn't get caught up in the b613 craziness. Hell she gave him a key. The first of many. It's funny how Jake hasn't seen all that she's done. He still thinks she doesn't care. I'm interested to see what their dynamic looks like now. There was some miscommunication in their last scene regarding "saving the ticket."
Hey Now Future, miss talking to you. Thanks Aspiring Shay. I want to know what she was going to say in 5x8 too, I think she was going to say she would of chosen him. Since she went home with him and she ONLY went to Fitz cause Jake TOLD her too and left. Liv NEVER chose, which is one of the many reasons Olitz self destructed once again.
I agree about the fake boyfriend thing but she also picked Jake cause she had feelings for him anyway so why not? She also said in that ghetto argument with Fitz in that hotel that Jake by her side is for her. I also love how Liv gave Jake a key many times (which is why I laughed at the bitter Betty's that said he broke in her house when he fingered her. He has a damn key, STFU) and Jake gave Liv one when he was in his apartment (I miss Jake's apartment) There was miscommunication but I'm sure Jake will quickly realize she did it to save him and get him away from Rowan. Kill two birds with one stone, Jake is rational and always has been. Along with being able to read Liv like a book.

Yes, looking back on everything from our current position, I'm starting to believe she was going to tell Jake that she wanted him as well. Jake continues to underestimate his value in Olivia's heart, and I think it's because he's always been unlucky in love. Pain and love go hand-in-hand for Jake, and with the great Fitzgerald Grant, the one who gets EVERYTHING, being his rival for Liv's heart, I don't believe he thought much of his chances. He had small, quiet hope, but he doesn't seem to have put much stock into it. Pain and love has been his entire life, so he just easily deals with it like second nature. It's an odd thing, because Jake is very much armed with himself, but it's because he HAD to be, unlike Fitz. Fitz doesn't have much value in himself as a self-sustained man, but he's always the chosen one. He's entitled; everybody wants him for their reasons, but Jake is just the opposite; while he holds himself up, he doesn't believe in people putting much value in him. He's been alone, causing him to hold himself up. It's why, relative to Fitz especially, he didn't have much faith in being the chosen one in her life. However, her heart truly chose him a long time ago. She is hopelessly in love with this man! Finally, in Jake's life, he is the ONE... Unfortunately, he's been hurt, abused, and alone too much and too long in life to be able to recognize Olivia's true heart for him. When you look back over their entire relationship, which I plan to do starting today from season 2, you realize that it has been nothing but love motivating this woman to do all that she's done for this man. Nothing but love!
Great post and I agree. I do think cause of Jake's issues with his past IE his family, Rowan, and B613 he is used to being disappointed and doesn't think he deserves happiness but hell, Liv has a lot of issues too lol.

I wish I didn't love these two so much. I hate liking couples in Shondaland you know how that goes but they're just too good. They've been slowly building their story since Jake arrived. I'm glad you enjoyed the vid.

I always felt it was quite poignant and ballsy of Olivia that she would fight so hard and barter with Fitz himself when it came to Jake's welfare, getting him released from the hole or prison. Knowing that Fitz knows full well that Jake is someone who like he, has also captured her heart. I have no doubt in my mind that Olivia even at her worst still was very much in love with Jake and has showed it in action several times by how hard she went to bat for him on more then one occasion. Whether it be against Fitz or her father. There is a reason why she can never seem to not have him in her orbit and vice versa. Olivia's problem i believe is that one of her greatest skills has gotten her into her greatest conundrum. Olivia as we have seen is an excellent compartmentalizer and is in part why her connection everyone in her family (Huck, Quinn, Abby, Stephen) is very individual and equally meaningful. No-one is more or less important to her because Olivia's relationship and methodology in how she interacts with each of them is unique and personal to each.
With Fitz and Jake however she is the same way, Olivia has compartmentalized each of their relationship, both of which are wholly different from one another and yet neither any less significant or powerful. KW had stated a while back on one of their many panel conventions, when asked who was the better kisser between Tony and Scott, KW stated that both are technically proficient but the way in which Olivia kisses both men are very different because they are two very different relationships and different people. And i totally agree with her. I believe both relationships are equally passionate and meaningful in different ways and because of how she compartmentalizes Olivia has actually fallen in love with both men and is why she could never be without either. Fitz is most definitely in her heart and in her blood but Jake he's like her food or the air she breath. Heart/Air blood/food, one is in the body one is introduced to the body and all necessary and equally important. That is Fitz and Jake to Olivia. They both give her something vital whilst she gives them...?
I luv Olivia..will always be team Olivia above all others. And yet i could never fail to question whether she is ever good enough for either men. She always moved the goalposts with both, in her own way has manipulated and used both, has lied to both...and yet i still don't doubt her love for both of them. And yet despite my luv for her character in general, flaws and all and belief that she cares, loves and is in love with both Jake and Fit and visa versa, whenever the question came up about who was best, better or for Olivia and who deserved her, i could never stop the question that came to my mind on whether SHE WAS EVER GOOD ENOUGH FOR THEM. When Jake stated that Olivia was supposed to be too good for him and that he never imagined that he'd be too good for her (after she had secretly gotten Fitz's son's killer aka her Father released from prison) i couldn't help but agree and think the same of Fitz too. And yet, despite that as much as i am Team Liv i am also still a great believer in Jake, Olivia and Fitz's trinity.

I think your analysis of the relationship between the three is quite spot on though I ship for Jake and Olivia. I mean, I understand Fitz' situation but I often felt he was selfish and indecisive and too much buried in his own issues to really be fully with her and Olivia deserves more than that. Olitz fans will kill me for this but I genuinely think this. Also, with Fitz, Olivia loved him, was in love with him yes but she was still reserved towards him. I felt, maybe because of their past and circumstances, she felt the need to protect a part of her from him but never was quite able to do that whereas with Jake she was all in and more fearless to fight for him and for them. Like you said, she could confront Fitz and her father, go against them even all for Jake. She believes more in her and Jake than she does with Fitz, Fitz doesn't give her that security.
When it comes to what she had to offer for both men... it was hope, it was choices or should I say options. She gave them hope that they could be better, that they were capable of more, that they were enough. Well, she actually did that with everyone she cared for but more so for them. Someone said that she had the ability to drag folks from the darkness and into the light. That is Olivia 's greatest superpower. And with freedom... because she gave them hope that they could be better, that they were more than what the world and themselves believed they were or capable of and therefore afforded them freedom to be braver to be and do that.

I'm in two minds about Fitz. I've never disliked him, i understand the draw between he and Olivia and yes whilst it is shitty about him being a cheat dick, i am not as against him and Olivia because ultimately it is acknowledged by both he and Mellie that theirs is a dead marriage and is just for show. But i did love his character either and overall wondered what the big hype about him was because ultimately he was a man that got a job that he never really wanted. He never really wanted to be president. And it showed throughout the series it was something he never really wanted. HOWEVER i feel his journey, especially post presidency Fitz was a good one. I felt he matured into someone who did follow through on his convictions, the fact that he and Mellie were able to move past their hate into a mutual relationship of respect for the other. For me that says a lot about his character. But yes, i could see Olivia was much freer with Jake. She simply seemed to laugh more and did more than have sex (which was the bulk of Olivia and Fitz relationship for the most part). Jake and Olivia were actual friends. They enjoyed each others company in a way that Fitz and Olivia never did.
It was her father who told Olivia that her purpose was to drag people into the light...and funnily enough, that conversation was motivated by Jake and him shooting James. And whilst yes she may have given Jake and Fitz hope. I believe both has sacrificed or tried to sacrifice more for her than she has one for them. Heck, Jake is in prison in part because of Olivia. Yeah he may not have any hard feelings about it and no doubt he can handle it. But still that is still a sacrifice.
