ABOUT ME
Hi! My name is Margot and I am a professional artist and graphic designer. My parents like to joke that I was born with a paintbrush in hand. I started my career after graduating from the renown Parsons School of Design in New York City and spent over 15 years creating and designing for many of the world's top Fortune 500 brands and companies. My painting journey started as a side project and a creative outlet for me to step away from the computer, go back to my "roots" in fine art and to hone my skills as an illustrator and painter. I started posting some of my work on instagram and the rest is history. My work is inspired by all the things that I am passionate about. Ballet, travel, graphic design, color and finding a world of beauty in all facets of everyday life. I hope you'll join me in this UA-cam journey as I take you through all the tips, tricks and trade secrets I've gathered throughout the years. I hope I can teach you some of what I know, help you discover your creative voice and I hope you enjoy this Channel!

I absolutely love both of your colorful personalities and works of art. It's beautiful to see two UA-camrs existing in the same spaces with grace. ❤
Thank you so much Erika! 😘😘😘
I so agree with both!!
Love to see women supporting women! Kudos . I would paint a floral piece with those amazing colors! Love both channels so much. New to watercolor painting and I’m in love with this art journey! Jenny
Community over competition❤
I know it's tacky to come to one channel and talk about another; but, I really feel the need here Kristi Rice is all about making watercolor fun and accessible to all she talks about putting the "joy" in painting and removing the fear, hence the names on here products, she's really fun and inspiring to watch, in a completely different way, I feel like I have learned a lot from both of you as you really embody two ends of the spectrum and are both great teachers
I love how you incorporated your ballerinas into this painting. Absolutely beautiful. You and Kristy are two of my favorites!
Same!
Love the both you!!! As an older beginner painter I have learned so much from you both in the most fun and encouraging way. I love Color!!! Am drawn to intuitive interpretations of florals and landscapes. Your Canadian fan!❤️
Margot, the Silver Brush brush you showed isn't actually a regular dagger. It's called a striper or dagger striper. I think I had read they are useful for, well, stripes, because they have a large belly paired with the long bristles on one end. This differs from liners in that liners do not have large belly. Stripers can also be used as daggers can, but in a less generalized way. Think long twisted leaves vs more common leaves, petals, and the like by the regular dagger. [Edit, called it a stripper at one point.]
This is SUPER helpful. I think this helps illuminate a bit why it wasn't working for me!
I'm glad to see someone else has mentioned this! Yes, the Silver Velvet one is a "two in one" brush but mainly used as a liner type. Normal dagger brushes don't have the long extended bristles.
I love your ballerinas. My irises and columbine will be blooming soon and the Kristy Rice colors would be amazing to use to paint the beauties. I have been following both of you for some time now.
I'm new to watercolor. I live in Utah. I love learning from you and Kristy!
I have the Art for Joy's Sake palette and can vouch that it is fabulous. The paints are quality, and it has some unique colours. Because of the quaility of the palette I'm considering the brushes even though I don't really need any. Though, one can't have too many quality brushes.
Hold my earrings !!! Loved it!!!
I am back to art after a forced retreat of 34 years. After all this time finally I can unchain this monster inside of me. I’m starting again and this time I want to paint nightscapes. Wish me good luck!
Bless you for all the wonderful information but mostly for the inspiration.
Wow, what a surprise to find two of my favourite You Tube artists on one video. I would love to have Kristys paints to practice my floral painting. To do my own thing, “you do you,” you are both such great teachers.
I would love Kristy’s beautiful watercolor set. If I would win the set I would paint pretty ladies with flowers in their hair🌸 ❤❤
You have a great sense of humor!😆. Its so inspiring to see artist supporting each other! 💜
I love Kristi's brushes. I would love to try her palette doing a joyful abstract painting. Maybe leaning towards organic florals.
The lid on the water jar is a great idea!!
I learned really quickly to keep my paints, water jar, and projects up. I am extremely involved in raising my nephew (24/7) and he loves painting. I learned about his love for painting when he was about 2-21/2. He would come and watch me paint and I gave him finger paints to paint with me. One morning, he got up very early and quietly came into my room, sat at my chair at my desk, picked up the paint brush and used my palette and water to finish my watercolor painting for me 😂😂😂 Thankfully I don't have any of the "toxic pigments". Regardless, he painted like a baby professional watercolorist and did not do anything with the paints or water that should not be done. I cherish that painting 3 years later, but of course I put my palette and water jar up every night now 😂😂😂😂😂 He has his own non toxic watercolor set, tempera paints, and other craft paints, pencils, markers, etc and creates art with me very often. But yeah...very important to keep the lids on the paint jars and the palettes put up!
Just found you on UA-cam a few weeks ago and have been following Kristy for awhile. I really love your vibe and energy. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos
Kristy made me fearless about my paints and I am so intrigued by her dagger brush!
I would love painting a large composition of flowers with those colors she incuded in her palette.
Amazing materials! I ADORE that palette, and I die for try it! I live in Argentina, and love try new materials and create with them.
I'd love to paint portraits with emotions dipped into the colors of that pallet!
Great video, and so nice to see support among women. ❤ ❤
Beautiful ballerina irises! Would love to use Kristy’s opaque, neon and bright colors to paint flowers without the “fear” of making a mess😂
Make a mess! You have my permission and I guarantee you have Kristy's too!
Well, I will say that Kristy's marketing/PR is on point. (En pointe? Lol!) Apparently everyone with a watercolor channel is talking about her products, so kudos to her for that.
You got me with the click bait. 😂 I love both your and Kristy's channels! I'm so glad you aren't actually enemies.
I'd love to paint roses and try some new ideas too. Thanks for having a channel for me to paint along with.😊
Your work is so inspiring. These orchid dancers are lovely. It is encouraging that rival YT’ers can share respect and friendship.
I’m a beginner painter but I’m certain this palette would make stunning florals. 💐🤩
Gorgeous idea combining dancers and flowers, for after all what are flowers if not dancers in our gardens? I think if I was to be lucky enough to win the paint set, I'd be painting gorgeous backgrounds with a bokeh effect and them attempting to capture my adored cats in wild shades!
I LOVE the colors in this palette. I’d like to paint a beautiful front door scene on a quaint little cottage in a French village that’s surrounded by beautiful flowers.
I have been doing watercolors for 18 years. I love florals because......no perspective 😅 so that is my main go to and I like loose impressionistic the best.
Fantastic collaboration! Love this tutorial❤ so inspiring to see both talented watercolor artists at play, I’d like to try to use it in floral bouquets and holiday cards for my patients.
I was wondering how the nemesis part would fit in in this video lol. I knew you couldn’t be anything but suportive and friendly toward eachother, love both your personalities.
I would so love the chance to paint along with Kristy’s videos with the same unusual but so gorgeous palette.
That set really is something else!
As for my own paintings, I don’t know why but I’m having the inspiration to make some moody sceneries with highlighted focal points from animals (like deer on the road, cat on windowsill) to houses in streetviews with trees 😍
I have Kristy’s sets. They are lovely! The travel brush is great, too! I loved the dagger before I found Kristy. I hope you fall in love with them!
Ohhhh. I don’t have the painter’s pot! Too cool!
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours. I watch Kristy all the time. I am now going to be watching you. I have that palette so I don’t need another one. I loved the dancers you painted.
love the thickness of those brushes. This wd help me hold it and know it is in my hand! I wish!❤️🦋
Thank you for your fun and informative videos - you and Kristi both! I watch from Canada 🇨🇦 and would love to explore floral landscapes with this set!
I love both of you and your styles. It is so great that all of you artists support each other 💖🎨🖌️
Kristy is awesome! I love how approachable and accessible she's making art for everybody!
Hi Margo! I follow both yourself and Kristy. I am a beginner painter and learn so much while watching you both. It's breathtaking to see the beauty that emerges from a blank white paper.
I would love to try to paint some colorful birds with Kristy's colors!❤
I tend to want to paint woodland nature forest. You would think that requires a lot of greens browns and ochres. It does but nature is never boring and always surprising. Raw garnet in a mountain surface wild flowers, different colors of grasses. Well you get the idea, always a surprise in store. Kinda of like Kristy’s palette. Love her brushes as well, I’m going to be looking into her art supplies. Thanks for a great and informative video. 😊
Hello, Margot! Thank-you for your wonderful videos! I am so excited about your giveaway. I think the colors of Kristy’s palette would be so very perfect for painting the natural environment where I am in Southern California. The chaparral here turns very brown, golden and warm green, flowers peaches and yellows, the sky & clouds blues and purples. I love flora & fauna and I feel like these colors would help my attempts to express how beautiful and colorful these often overlooked ‘golden-brown’ hills really are. And because this palette has that special something extra - that extra POP & pizazz - I feel like this is the magical color combination to do the trick! Thank-you so much for your fun unboxing and demonstrating of this dreamy collection! Surely, I would feel like a Watercolor Princess to open something like that with all that beautiful packaging! 💕
I would love to do a painting of berries and flowers with them. I have never used a dagger brush before. I know you felt like they were more like orchids but, your irises turned out beautiful.
I'm watching from Louisiana. Loved this video! I am just learning to paint, but I would try a spring garden with lots of tiny butterflies if I won the palette.
Love the colors in your flowers!! Wish my mistakes looked as good as yours!! So nice to have beautiful tools.
Hi Margot! Greetings fro Spain! I am a beginner self taught painter. I paint mostly flowers, so I wolud use Kristy's paints for flowers. Thank you for your videos and your humor.😊
I love the dagger brushes for leaves and the beautiful colors in Kristy's pallet are perfect for fall leaves
I absolutely love watching you paint. So creative
What a beautiful “Iris interpretation”! I am just beginning to learn watercolors and have been watching you and Kristy to learn some techniques and not be so afraid to ruin a perfectly good piece of watercolor paper 😂. I watched the color swatching of this palette of Kristy’s channel and I have been thinking about it ever since! I am excited to try her formulation and the unique colors she chose for this palette. I would want to try some botanicals and maybe some abstracts! Glad you conquered the dagger! Congratulations on your new subs. ❤ I’m in the US
I am definitely looking forward to painting florals! Been on a floral kick lately!!!
I paint quite a variety of topics, but my main one tends to be dragons, and I've got a feeling I could do some truly interesting ones with such an unusual colour selection. I loved how this piece of yours turned out, by the way. Just lovely.
Your art is fantastic and I love the more recent videos that show your personality! I would take an art vacation with your Henri Matisse inspired tutorial! The bright colors in the Kristy Rice pallet would be perfect! Watching from the US.
Hi! I am Laura Newton, a beginner watercolorist. I found you about a month ago and have enjoyed and learned a lot from your videos. I want to begin drawing the flowers and foliage in my neighborhood. I live in Florida close to the Gulf of Mexico. I am 73, retired and loving watercolor. Thank you for the work it takes to do these classes! ❤️
Margot, hello from Minnesota, USA! I have to tell you, you and your paintings are so beautiful! I have just started to watercolor and I absolutely love it! I follow both you and Kristy Rice, and I would love to paint florals using her paint palette. The colors look so fun and intriguing! I also have a fear of the dagger brush, but you did a great job on this amazing ballerina piece! You are so talented, and I love watching your channel and learning from you 💜 Wendy
Absolutely love your tutorials and unboxing videos. It was so awesome to see you review Kristi's brushes and her palette. I would love to try out her palette in making home portraits. I think the unusual mix of colors can make some interesting choices for that style of watercolor
Such a great video!! I love florals of any kind!!! Thank you so very much for the giveaway opportunity!!!💖💖💖
Such a fun visit! I have Kristy’s palette and really like it, yet to try her brushes. Beautiful packaging.
A wonderful review, Margot! Your final painting was beautiful. I am drawn to painting botanical’s, especially florals. And I love getting outside and painting en plein air. 👏👏👏🩵🇳🇿
Love all your painting and your personality! 💕 I’d love to try painting with the bright colors of Kristy’s. I would try flowers and landscapes. I’d like to branch out from my conservative colors. Thanks for sharing your painting. Very talented.
I’m new to watercolour and love following both of your tutorials. You both have very different styles which I find interesting. Being in Australia our colours are vibrant and unlike any other l would love to see what style my paintings would emerge using this palette of colours.
I enjoy watching both you and Kristy. As a beginner with watercolor here in Illinois, I’d love to use the palette and Brushes to paint botanicals for notecards to give as gifts.
This was a great unboxing and testing video. I love how you incorporate flowers to the dancing figures. I love drawing and painting flowers and I’m starting to learn how to draw and paint people. In the suffering stages yet but I’ll get there lol 😅
Fyi: Terri(y?) Harrison was a British watercolorist who made a lot of use of specialized brushes including daggers. You can find UA-cam videos by him of how to use them. I think his website still sells various brushes including daggers.
Dear Margot, it is great to see two of my favorite UA-camrs collaborating in the process of art education. May main topic painting are flowers, birds and insects. As well as religious images. I can use those espectacular colors in any of my watercolor arts.
I love the colors and names oh the brushes !
Your painting is amazing. Ballerinas and flowers. So delicate!
I would love to paint some landscapes in plain air with these colors.
❤
These would lend themselves beautifully to landscapes. Great idea! and Good luck!
I loved that piece you did, so cool. I already use Kristy’s palette but what a fun gift for someone new to her supplies. I did however, buy the brushes 🤣. Anyway, I am now a subscriber to your channel. Let the fun begin ❤
This set of brushes from Kristy Rice are fun and also unique. They really do look like they would be great for flowers as well as many other types of subjects. I like how she designed the handles to be different colors. I also love the little zipper pouch they come in. Her packaging and branding is very lovely. It’s such a nice touch.
I would do flowers and leaves all over. Love both of you!!!!
The painting you did with those brushes was beautiful! I love how you incorporated the dancers’ skirts and arms with the iris images! My mom had irises when I was little and I always think of her when I see them. Beautifully done!
Both you and Kristy bring so much to the community. I am exploring abstract with the water colors on this pallet would give me an opportunity to experiment with a lot more. I would be honored to win this pallet.
You are beautiful and so is your art! i love the creativity and color of Kristys products. I'm a super newbie to wc and struggling including with the little dagger I picked up at Hobby Lobby to try.. Thanks for sharing your time, talent and space with Kristy. (Her paint box is so cute.....I love cute lol) 😀
So nice to see artist supporting each other.
I’d love to paint tropical birds with this palette. Thanks for all your amazing videos.
Loving your review and curious about the dagger brushes as well. I would love to try fluorescent watercolors in my work. If I won I’d use the colors to paint otherworldly insects with secret patterns that glow under blacklight.
Love that peachy color & bright green!😊
Great video, I am enjoying a lot your enthusiasm and inner child ❤
I am excited to see what all you do with the dagger brushes. You totally got me with the image thumbnail, btw! Love your ballerinas. ❤ Watching from the USA. I’d like to paint a bunch of bright cottages with that pallet.
I love to paint flowers, so I’d pick some beauties from my garden for inspiration.
Great video!! And the giveaway pallet is beautiful!! I would love using those colors for my mandalas!!
Wow I love the ballerina irises!! The flow looks so elegant!
I was thinking about painting cats. But maybe I’ll try some dancing cats.
I love both of you! You both give such inspiration and step by step tutorials that give me the confidence to try and have fun doing so. I live in Phoenix, Arizona.
I would love to use this palette to paint some fairies the colours are amazing.. I have a dagger brush too not Kristy's and not able to master it either. Another great video Margot.🎉
I thought dagger brushes were easy and versatile to use? Now I have to watch till the end.
Apparently I'm alone in not knowing how to use them 🤣
@@Pointebrush 😂. Well, I still have not tried mine, so I might join you 😄.
I love Kristi's attitude and her palette is wonderful. I love her brushes too. The dagger takes some getting used to, but once you get a feel for it, it's amazing.
I totally agree! Thanks for sharing!
Her watercolors are great! Love them!
Hi Margo :) I am a beginner and it was such a blessing to find your channel, you have given me so much help and inspiration. I am from Cape Town, South Africa. I would definitely use these paints and brushes to make a picture I have been planning out, which is floral design with some berries and fluffy bumble bees! 😊
I’m watching from the Midwestern US! I’d love to paint fantasy maps with the set 🎉
What a fun video and gorgeous painting. I recently bought 2 daggers (similar to your Silver one) and like you they are living in my jar unused except for the day I got them. Too floppy!!! I would LOVE winning that palette. I would paint florals. And lighthouses. And seashells. And and and. :). Shipping to Canada would be easy peasy! :)
I have that dagger with the long tail. I didn't get the hang of it either. Kristy's dagger looks more like a large angle brush... I WANT 😂 LOL
I'm so glad that I discovered your videos. Your voice is so calming, patient and kind. Thank you. xo
I would paint botanicals and small tropical beach landscapes. I live in California .
Love your painting and I love Kristy Rice too. I like to paint flowers. Thanks for your inspiring videos.
Hey Margot, grettings from Brazil!! Love your content and i would love to Paint my feelings with the ART for Joy pallet. Few months ago I decided to go back to therapy to help me to pass through some health problems with my parents and in the middle of one section I had a realization to try to put the feelings and thoughts drawing and painting and it is amazing how much this catharsis draw are helping me !! Is so chaotic and liberating. Thanks so much for the beautiful and helpful videos ❤
I love your Videos. I am also watching Kristys channel. You are both so different but both so talented artists. And I can always learn something from you. I am often afraid of using my colours or my paper not wanting to waste them. But as you say art is about joy. I World love to paint some florals with those amazing colours and to try something new and unexpected maybe try to paint some animals.
Thank you so much for your content.
New subscriber. Enjoying the east to follow tips. I have been considering Kristie’s Pallet as I love how her colors interact.
For the last 3 days since I discovered your channel, I have been watching your vdos one by one. I love your style and your work. Thank you Margot. Pantea from the South of France.
That makes me so happy to hear! Happy to have you on here with me! ❤️
wonderful as always Margot! Kristy is doing a great job with her line. I’m quite the newbie to watercolor but would like to do my first original, which would probably be a corner of my garden that has jonquils and geraniums
Ohhhh my goodness. When I saw the title of this video I just had to watch it!! Nemesis such a catchy word choice!! Margot you had me the first time I watched one of your videos and I have probably 700+ paintings of wanna be flower fairies dancing around my art room! I’m addicted. I loved this video and I am thankful that your nemesis is the dagger brush and not fun loving Kristy. Sending much love to you from Colorado.
What a fun and informative video to watch! I love your floral ballerinas and the colors you chose to use. If I were to win Kristy’s beautiful palette, I would love to paint flowers in Kristy’s joyful style. I’d pop right on over to her channel and follow along with some of her fun tutorials. 😊 P.S. I'm watching from northern Wisconsin USA.
Great idea! Her tutorials are so infectiously joyful!
I'm so happy I found your channel! I subscribe to Kristy Rice and find her amazing. Now, you are joining that category🙂
I love watching you and Kristy paint, you are both so inspirational. I am at the very start of my creative journey but would love to be able to develop soft billowy watercolour florals inspired by you both! Margot your art has such a delicate touch and Kristy brings such vibrant colour. I have learnt so much from watching you both paint. I haven’t been able to find Kristy’s pallets or brushes here in the uk but would love to give them a go! Thank you both for sharing your talents with us xx
Canada here i would be happy to paint landscapes and flowers
I’m new so I mostly do flowers 😊 still practicing
Holy Cow!! I finally figured out who you remind me of!!!
From Cheers, Frazier’s wife Lilith!
I loved your painting of ballerina flowers! It was lovely especially the movement and colors! I'd love to try something like that even though I'm sure it won't turn out near as beautiful as yours! 😂
Don't sell yourself short! I'm sure you would make something gorgeous! Good luck!
I will be traveling this Fall, and I'd love to see how I could use this palette in the Virginia countryside. Thank you! (U.S.)
Thank you for sharing this kit - looks amazing! Nice work, Kristy! Right now I’m into painting whimsical birds. 😁
I have this palette, so I don't need to be included in the drawing. I just wanted to say thank you for reviewing Kristi's brushes, and giving a demo on the dagger brush! These will be on my wish list!! I adore your lovely painting using these brushes and the palette! I love that Kristi gave us that neon yellow in the palette because it allows the artist to bring light and life to other pigments, whether by glazing or by mixing.
