I bought a bottle today around noon not knowing exactly what to expect. After a long day of work and a 5 mile jog in the cool rain, I'm enjoying a glass of this whisky at home under a heated blanket with my siamese cat by my side. I'm watching your great review as I sip. In this moment, life is good. Cheers, and Happy Thanksgiving my friends.
I really hope others follow their lead...instead of some fancy name for marketing purposes with no age statement, be honest and put the younger age statement on the label, boost the ABV up, hopefully non chill filter it, hopefully don't add caramel color to it, lower the price from the standard 10-12 yr old, and watch it sell like hotcakes to real whisky connoisseurs!
Had a boss who was more interested in higher priced, older bottles. With him it was all about ego. Wouldn’t give anything less than 12 years a try. A damn shame really.
I like it for what it is! I nursed a bottle of this stuff at my ranch when we had a severe snowstorm a few years back, here in Texas. No power or water for a week. I would have some of this at night by our burning wood stove and it was a truly cinematic experience haha.
What a great way for father and son to bond! Congrats on what seems to be a beautiful relationship... oh, and thank you for your impressions. This one is on my radar, so your input is quite welcome and much appreciated! Slainte!
This is my first Ardbeg and frankly I loved it, even though all I can taste is sweet smoked bacon and eventually a cigar aftertaste I still quite enjoyed it.
i love this ardbeg 5 , I hope Ardbeg continues keep making this whisky as a line up products. my notes it was very sea test and finish little sweet with a nice long gentle peat flavor.
Some honest young Islay whisky is goooooooood news. Personally, i love the QC from Laphroaig, so this new wee beastie is just another option for me, hopefully a great one. Finally someone had the balls to print such a young age on a bottle. Bravo, Ardbeg!
I tried it a few days ago. It has elements of quite a few of the others, maybe particularly Corryvreckan, like a smokier, younger, possibly unrulier version perhaps. I enjoyed it a lot. I agree with the tar & ham thing which is maybe the An Oa component if you will.
You could try Laphroaig 10 or Laphroaig Quarter Cask, I think they are slightly cheaper if you want an intense drink. Also, you could try Smokehead (cheaper). However, Ardbeg Wee Beastie is powerful and I love it!

Congratulations to Ardbeg for having the guts to display this big red 5 on the label! 👏👏👏

@@johng5710 you've summed it all up
Agreed!
Had a boss who was more interested in higher priced, older bottles. With him it was all about ego. Wouldn’t give anything less than 12 years a try. A damn shame really.
@@johng5710 cheers to ralfy for educating probably the most of us 👏👏👏
BBQ ham finish I could taste it as soon as you said it.
At least ardbeg are putting a big bold 5 on the bottle. This is going too sell like hot cakes. Good review 👍
Agreed. Personally, I can't wait to get a bottle.
The mustache suits you, Horst.
FATHER AND SON TOGETHER FOR A WHISKY REVIEW. THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL

It was my first taste of Ardbeg, and I was truly sold within the first sip. It's a fantastic Islay.
You guys are absolute gems.

Horst actually looks really good in the moustache :D
This is my first Ardbeg and frankly I loved it, even though all I can taste is sweet smoked bacon and eventually a cigar aftertaste I still quite enjoyed it.
I had an architecture professor who looked exactly how Leuning looks with that mustache and eyebrows. It's uncanny.
Einstein?
“This is one of these that leaves a mark.”; great comment! now I need a bottle to try. Cheers!
i love this ardbeg 5 , I hope Ardbeg continues keep making this whisky as a line up products. my notes it was very sea test and finish little sweet with a nice long gentle peat flavor.
When do we get the "BEASTIE" at CASK STRENGTH?? Or better yet the "TEN" at CAST STRENGTH????
I'd love to see a cask strength Ardbeg Ten. Laphroaig 10 cask strength is dynamite.
I got a bottle yesterday and tried it. Its so tasty, I really hope it goes down in price though instead of upping the 10yr $$$
Ardbegs marketing is amazing, much respect to them also I love their products.
I like this more than the 10y.. Not that I don't like the 10. Can we all agree Ardbeg is just damn amazing 👏
Try it with some water. It’s 47.4 % and takes it well. I let it sit for a little while and add about 3 ml.
Some honest young Islay whisky is goooooooood news. Personally, i love the QC from Laphroaig, so this new wee beastie is just another option for me, hopefully a great one. Finally someone had the balls to print such a young age on a bottle. Bravo, Ardbeg!
Hearing your accents brings me back to my childhood in Cincinnati. I love the reviews gentlemen. Gute Arbeit.
I like it most when these two review togather
This sounds right up my ally. Thanks for the review, can't wait to get one! Cheers!
Got this last weekend. Top notch for something different, aggressive, and interesting.
I like this bottle for what it is. Very cool to have to show newbies what a 5 year old Islay is like.
I tried it a few days ago. It has elements of quite a few of the others, maybe particularly Corryvreckan, like a smokier, younger, possibly unrulier version perhaps. I enjoyed it a lot. I agree with the tar & ham thing which is maybe the An Oa component if you will.
Can't wait to try
The dynamic duo excellent review my friends.
I can't wait to try this.
That face he makes when he says there’s a tar note in there...instantly know I’ll love it haha
How does it compare to the Lagavulin 8?
Arrived today for my birthday..sent by a friend..rather good!🥃😋
Yes, but will the 10 now raise in price?
Just started video and this is already a must try
Ardbeg Wee Beastie US $38, Ardbeg 10 $48 in the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) area.
Shoot! And I thought $45 for the Wee Beastie in Michigan was good!
$45 in Oregon, as well. Seems like a pretty damn good value for the bracket if you like islay and complexity.
Damn I love Plano my dude
Just bought a bottle. Can't wait to try it!
Horst Watson?
same watch as you. what year is your submariner?
47 abv....cheaper than 10....young islay.
Yes please
Day 10 of Quarantine: I feel my eyebrows aren't bushy enough.
i done my panic shopping , purchased 2 bottles of scotch
@@cardboardboxification Did you remember the toilet paper?
Check your gums
Why don't you add a little water???? 47.4% ABV!!! This will be a regular go-to whisky for me assuming it stays around.
I am looking forward for this one. Thank you for the review.
It’s an everyday dram for me at that price. So delicious
Thank you for reviewing a whiskey people can actually buy.
Did anyone else just see Charlie MacLean turn into Horst Lüning?
I enjoy the 5 more than the 10. The 5 has better sweetnest from the Olorroso cask.
Why did not you cut it with a bit of water ?
Normally Horst puts water in his whisky when it’s over 50%
I don't know what about this one but generally ardbeg is a bit carmel coloured... isn't?
This will probably become the entry level Ardbeg and displace Laphroig as the gateway for peated whiskies. I am tasting it as I watch. Cheers!
Neither should be the gateway...probably a bowmore should be the gateway
Far too thin of a mouthfeel for me. Would rather a lag 8
Think I'll stick to the Ardbeg Uigeadail
So curious about this one! 🤩
Den är fantastisk, min första Ardbeg som gjorde att jag blev förälskad! Olja, bacon, hav, rök, söt, you name it, it's got it!
Sounds great guys! Love me some Islay :P
Can I buy that glass to be shipped to California?
great video, thanks guys
German humor makes one cry...literally!
Kool review educational fun review
This whisky rollout is way more organised than politics fighting coronavirus.
Wait? Is this going to become new in the main line of Ardbeg? That would be really cool
This was great. Elevated your reviews!
Today we got it to Finland.
59€ (Ardbeg 10 is 68€)
It’s a good Ardbeg
Ham whisky!?? Being originally from Virginia I definitely have to try this! 🤣🤣🤣🍖🍖🍖🥃🥃
Great review
The into was so funny!! lol
Hahaha so great. Cheers, gents!
Dr Watson arr, that makes sense. I though you had come dressed as Alf Garnett.
Expensive, about 20€ more than the 10yo, here in Germany now around 57-60€, a bottle ☹️
this is great
For some reason I thought Sherlock Holmes drank Glenmorangie :)
Has anyone had another smokey one at a better price and quality?
You could try Laphroaig 10 or Laphroaig Quarter Cask, I think they are slightly cheaper if you want an intense drink. Also, you could try Smokehead (cheaper). However, Ardbeg Wee Beastie is powerful and I love it!
Try Finlaggan ;)
Hilarious, thanks...!
Horst's face after that first drink doesn't inspire confidence.
I think he's said in the past that peated whisky's are not his preference at all.
Tastes of creosote? Homeless alcoholics of the world arise.
😂😂😂
kkkkkkkkk, nice!
Whiskey vs toilet papers ?
I'd rather have whiskey, I can wash my butt clean in the shower.
ralfy does a better job folks
Ralfy tastes a 100 flavours that most of us never will
You guys are weird.
