great video. A quick tip for hiding the edges of an object is to double click to select the entire object with edges and surface. Deselect the surface by holding the ctrl key down, this should leave only the edges highlighted, right click and select "hide" to hide all the edges.

You can select everything, then hold shift and select the tree which deselects it leaving the edges selected. Then hover over the selected edges, right click and pick hide edges from the menu.
