Jeepney (Dyip) started as a converted vehicle from WW2 American wartime Jeeps. It is designed with colorful artisty to attract more passengers and besides its more fun.
Pedicab = it's a combination of 2 words pedi (for the bike used) and cab (for the seating attached to the bikes side. It is also working as a literal cycling taxi cab (that can transport you to short distances) shortened to pedicab.

I really wanted to reach out and touch all that beautiful green moss on the wall. Can't wait to actually see the jeepies (no idea if that is the way to spell it 😄) and other forms of transportation, and see more of the Philippines. @@NikiProshinDaily Good evening Bro. Welcome to the Philippines. I think it's way too early to compare our country to Cambodia. Economically, the Philippines is very much ahead. This year, so far, we are the fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia, and will soon join Indonesia as a trillion-dollar economy. As to the traffic, well I hope everything will change for the better when all the transportation infrastructures construction will be finished, hopefully by 2024 and others by 2028, specifically the subway and the other railway connecting to Clark International Airport.

I started watching you even before you left russia when you would appear together with Natasha. When you left and went to other countries during your mobilization, I was wondering when you will also visit here esp when you went to Vietnam. And now, it is good that you came here. Your observation on our mode of transport (jeepneys by the way) is almost a thesis lol. The jeepneys were a byproduct of the world war two Eisenhower jeeps used by the American GI's. After the war, an entrepreneur converted those little jeeps into public transport and voila, the jeepney was born. Before, the owners would put steel prancing horses in the hood as decoration, paint anything on the sides, write something on the back mudguard (often times "katas ng Saudi" or roughly translated as "result of working in Saudi Arabia") and put blaring stereos. Now, the jeeps are now simpler in design.

Welcome to Manila, Niki! The ubiquitous jeepney originated from surplus WW2 jeeps. They are both a boon and a curse of Manila traffic. There's the tricycle (motorized) and the pedicab (man powered) but we do have regular taxis. Intramuros - the Walled City, which you recorded this segment is the original seat of the Spanish colonial government. It is mostly a tourist area now. Little disheatened that your first impression of the local cuisine was not a good experience because it can compete with the best. I hope your next encounter is a better one. Might I suggest some foods to try: Adobo (pork or chicken), Sinigang (tamarind stew), Pancit Palabok or a Pancit Luglug (rice noodle dishes), Chicken Inasal (barbecued chicken that originated in the South), and try a Halo-Halo (it literally means mix-mix) for dessert.

a minor correction, the transport vehicle is called Jeepney and not Jeepy. The jeep or jeepney has a minimum fare for the first few kilometers and charge extra every additional kilometer past the mandated minimum distance. The tricycle is a motorcycle with a side car. The bicycle with a side car is i think called "padyak" there in Metro Manila.

Nice background but there are nicer background could have used in Intramuros. Bangkok is more organized and cleaner from what I've seen there. It is a city that works although it is sinking I understand. Manila and the Philippines 50 years ago was more advance than its neighbours in development. But due to certain political events and governance, the country slowly slid downhill, while its Asian neighbours climbed up. Anyway, the jeepneys are a throwback from the past, they seem to have a problem replacing them with proper, modern public transport. What to see or do in Manila - Intramuros itself has a few places worth visiting. There's Chinatown across the river from Intramuros, then the modern sections of Manila like Makati, BGC and the malls of course. And there's Corregidor island in the bay, it's a WW2 memorial but I don't know if the ferry and tours have come back. Anyway, tourists come to the Philippines to go to the islands, not necessarily to visit Manila.

You have a very keen observation. I can agree with almost all that u mentioned. So many rich people in the capital plus a surging number of middle class yet the poor sectors is so palpable mostly in Manila alone. Here in Davao City, a thriving metropolis in the south, its so rare to see beggars on the street. Better living condition without compromising the safety of the people. Thats a stark contrast in Manila. Anyways enjoy the archipelago. Keep walking and ull see the true beauty of the Philippines 🇵🇭 cheers and enjoy

Funny- just as you were talking about the bicycle with the side car one of them actually rode up the street in our view! (Minute 8:36).
It’s very interesting to hear about small things in daily life. Enjoy. 😊

Thank you Layla! I just had some time in Mall of Asia and a walk by the bay after that, that's... big. Saw the IKEA store, super big and perhaps the largest I've seen myself. I didn't dare to enter because every trip to Ikea ends by hours and hours of time inside

I don’t know where you’re from sounds like you have a Latin accent but coming to Manila I don’t think you have not done your lesson next time before you go to any country watch a lot of videos and the history of that country so you are better prepared on what to expect do not expect the Philippines to be more like America and Japan. It was very well developed country open your eyes and open your mind. That is all I can say you are not prepared you’re not prepared.

Niki, your presentation is so much improved. 👍
Currencies, how well can you exchange one currency to another? How easy(or difficult) is it to use your income from UA-cam to access?
The different cultures have different currencies, are they easily recognizable?
Example, all 🇨🇦 denominations $5 and up are different colours and have braille, holographic designs.

It’s super easy to get local currency in Asian countries but they mostly prefer $100 banknotes and give lower rates (or even refuse to exchange) smaller banknotes. Also they mostly exchange only banknotes without any visible damage. That’s not only about the Philippines but generally about SE Asia (in Myanmar they won’t change your dollars if it has even a little imperfection!)

Perhaps you can include in your itinerary the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar located in Bagac, Bataan Province, north of Manila and experience the architectural grandeur of the country at the turn of the century.

Interesting to hear about your initial impressions of this country. Perhaps when you spend time in a place away from Manila you will have a more native experience. So what did you tell the curious people. Did they subscribe to your channel? How will you deal with this kind of situation moving forward?

They subscribe right away😅 and I’ve got some local people commenting already - even though I didn’t upload any videos from the Philippines yet

If you base your impressions on the Philippines based on Manila then your are totally incorrect. Try to visit areas in the Visayas and Mindanao island then you will have a fair impression in the country.
