Sir can you please enlighten us why do we need to study these equations in different co-ordinate systems in the first place. How studying heat conduction equation in the cylindrical and speherical help us in the practical world?
Well, you are not going to always design a block heating element, the cylindrical coordinates work for cylinders or anything like a cylinder, while a spherical coordinates works for spheres. You can have a vessel that is cylindrconical in shape, if you want to solve a heat problem for that kind of system, you will not be able to use Cartesian coordinates. We have to know cylindrical and spherical coordinates.
