@16:42 keep in mind that you will not have descriptions using that export format because Survey Pro stores these differently than Trimble Access does, as codes. Need to create a new export format of P,N,E,Z, DESCRIPTION (rather than feature code).
Robert It's been about 7 months since I've used Pro / Access but I thought that I would just import my Pro jobs into Access on the data collector in the field. Like I said it's been 7 months and I use a different program now so I don't remember all of the key strokes but I did do it as I liked using the R12i and Pro didn't support it.
And I noticed since you were using an older version of survey pro, it still has the .survey extension. Newer version of survey pro are also .job files, but still not compatible with access even though they have the same extension.
Yep, this the only way I know how to do it as well, if you are trying to keep GNSS vector data intact. If not, just export a csv from survey pro and import to access is much faster and easier.
My local sales person told me yesterday that "Survey Pro" is dead after today the 30th, as in purchasing it from Trimble. Will be a discontinued product. Is this true?
So, there won’t be any more versions of Survey Pro they are switching to Origin which is Access with a blue tint. You can still buy it and use it but moving forward it won’t be working with new equipment.
@@SurveyingWithRobert Currently, none of our surveyors want to switch to Trimble Access, and this isn't helping the argument at all. Importing from Survey Pro to Trimble Access should be streamlined out of the gate. How can whoever is marketing this product not think of something so obvious, amazing.
Far easier solution is to simply export a TXT or CSV file from Survey Pro, then start a new JOB in Trimble Access in the correct coordinate system and then import or link the TXT or CSV file. No need to involve TBC because the exported JOB file will not contain the vectors anyway, only the points.
So if you have 30 years of SP files and no SP data collector, then what? I have some customers with that problem. I kind of did the video to help them out. Also when I bring the SP file into TBC I have the vectors.
@@SurveyingWithRobert , oh now that's a whole 'nother story not having the data collector. In that case people can download the free utility called the Spectra Precision JXL Style Sheet Converter to open those .survey files on their computer to export a JXL file or TXT file. As for the vectors, yes they will import into TBC as will any total station observations. My point was that none of those observations get exported out of TBC to the JOB file, only the points do. Great stuff Robert. Love your channel. Thanks.
@@JesseKozlowskiI owe you a beer!! I found the converter! Got it to work and you are right you lose the vectors. My guys are carrying two collectors around right now to export the SP file to csv and bring into Access. This will help them greatly! I really appreciate the heads up on this. I went to Trimble and not one person told me about this converter. Thank you!!
@@SurveyingWithRobert , I've been a Trimble Access user since way back in the Survey Controller days, version 4, LOL ! When I started where I work now, they were Survey Pro users all the way across the company. I had to do a deep dive to learn as much as I could about SP. Then we stared migrating to TA and rolling out TBC, so there was a period of needing to juggle both TA and SP. Now we are happily standardized on TA and I have a growing group of TBC users across the company. Loving it. A beer ... or 2 with you would be a fun time I am sure !
Long time no see. Good to see you back at. Love all your stuff!
Thats pretty slick. Great job bud, good info!! Keep it comin! You ever do any drone racing? just curious

You need a licensed copy of TBC to do that.
@@SurveyingWithRobert , yep. Maybe that JXL report utility can help this too.
Great video. This was needed.

But you need two collectors or two softwares. My customers are carrying two collectors to do just that.

It would nice to have a batch converter to convert every .survey file on our network.
I can’t believe they didn’t think that out before they decided to make the move.

Same question I proposed at Dimensions
