There isn’t a off season for wrestling as compared to the other sports mentioned. Plus the ECW style probably wasn’t conducive for longevity either. They went super hard and they got hurt a lot.

I think part of the problem is, the PAIN is a warning sign and a great check on stupidity. IF you take the pain out of the equation for a little while, people start pushing themselves PAST the point of where their bodies can survive. With the pain, they put a check on themselves. Without the pain, they don't recognize when and where to take a step back and give their bodies a rest. The excessive strain on their organs as well as their bones and muscles. AND the smoking chick's nickname, CAMEL JOE.
Francine and Beulah: two beautiful smart women who made their mark, got out, and survived the mess that happened around them. Also, the down to earth way Francine tells things like it was when she was in the industry.. especially with the "doctors" who were nothing more than glorified drug dealers.

They did 300 shows a year back in the day and drove a territory so they’d get up and do their thing then get a huge high off performing and controlling the crowd that they couldn’t sleep without downers and when they got to the next town they couldn’t wake without stimulants . You add alcohol and other drugs in between and you have an early grave .
