12:00 Shepard's first speech as the captain of the ship is so iconic! Watching that scene never gets old. And now, we're well and truly off, time to go venturing and gallivanting across the galaxy
24:54 it was at this moment they knew, its going to be a long playthrough 😂 Considering they spent 4 episodes of 2 hours only exploring the citadel, and now they can explore the galaxy... I am excited for this journey
Yes, the iconic appearance of iconic mass effect things! Mako! Thresher maw! We're on! :D This is very funny when Sarah said "I don't see anything" and that thing popped up immediately. As a ME player, you'll start fearing flat plateaus lol.
There's an elevator in the Normandy (at bottom of the stairs) which will take you to where Garrus, Ashley and the rest of the crew is at. You might want to turn back and talk to everyone else before continuing, since all their dialog updates after main missions. Also in the options under combat you can change "squad power usage" to offensive, this will let your team use their powers automatically so you don't have to micro manage as much.
This is an iconic episode with so many iconic moments! Shepard's speech, the Mako, and discovering/ killing the Maw. Your reactions make them even better! Keep it up and can't wait to see your future reactions! Also, to kinda help you navigate the map and provide some space nerd knowledge if you didn't know (cause i know it confused me heavily), all the way zoomed out is the galaxy. When you select anything from here your going to whats known as a cluster (basically a bunch of star systems that are close to each other). When in a cluster you can pick from different star systems, like our own solar system :D. So whenever a mission report tells you where to go, just look at key words like system and cluster to help make sense of it. I had to look up a couple i was so confused XD.
You may have realised it in future recordings, but as another comment said, that elevator in the Normandy takes you further down, where you can talk to the rest of the crew. Talking to your squad members on the Normandy after each main mission gives you some more insight on all of them. Also, it's not a necessity, so it's entirely up to you, but I recommend going to Noveria after you're done with the other two sites. Feros is a good place to start with, looking forward to more of that in the next episode! I think you need 7 charm/8 intimidate points to unlock the charm and intimidate dialogues with Major Kyle, but there's no possible way for first-time players to know that haha. You'll accumulate more points along the way, so no worries! Look at you go, you defeated your first Thresher Maw already, despite having very little resources! Was satisfying to watch you eventually defeat it. They can be very tedious in this game, you can ignore them if you don't feel like defeating them tbh And ayy, the Mako! Navigating these planets can sometimes feel tedious, but it's understandable given the fact that it was a 2007 game. I still had some fun with the Mako tho! Really enjoyed the episode, and as always, I can't wait for the next episode!
The setting to turn off the mako turning with the camera was a lifesaver for me 😭 felt like I could actually drive even though terrain was still rough.
If you don't know already the Mako also has a cannon, not just the machine gun. If you hit R1 it fires a single shot that's slower, but does a lot more damage and has an area of effect. I actually didn't discover that until my third playthrough, but it makes it a lot faster to take down big enemies like Thresher Maws.
It’s easier on PC because the canon button is mouse 2. Much more likely to randomly hit it I can’t imagine finding the canon after the the 3rd play through
Btw If you want the renegade or paragon options you either need to choose the top option for good dialog or the bottom for the evil options the middle answer is neutral option won’t give you anything and the reason why you can’t choose those special dialog options because you haven’t fully committed to paragon or renegade just letting you know 🙂
Welcome to Mako exploration... You will spend half your time in that damn vehicle, but it's a wild ride and so much fun blowing crap up with the main gun.
LOL! Realizing you have both a boost AND a cannon after multiple failed attempts at the first Thresher Maw. Classic ME1 experience. Sarah mentioning it during the fight made it all the more funny.
Also I wanted to share a tip if it's okay: certain classes are proficient with only a few types of weapons. Your Shepard as a soldier can use everything, I think, but biotics such as Kaidan are more limited! Give that a look when you choose equipment :D I think it says what they're proficient with in their points menu.
Kaidan actually has no weapon talents because he is a sentinel, which is biotic+tech. Levelling the Sentinel class power will give him some bonus pistol damage and accuracy, but he does not get big buffs or weapon abilities like other classes.
Doing Great!!! I never did that good when I started ME. There are more than 3 dozen planets to fight thru---but only (I think) 7 are necessary to finish. Put the medical upgrades on your squad's armor so they can heal continuously. Then you can hit, pull back (regenerate), hit, pull back...and defeat any enemy force. The enemies don't regenerate no matter how long you are gone---and they are very patient. You can go to Choras Den and have a few drinks and they'll still be there....waiting.
Back when this released, us oldies had these things called ‘manuals’ that came with our games that we had to read to know what the controls were, hence, no menu. Also, the Mako tutorial is on a main mission so that probably didn’t help either 😂
Finally finished the episode, oof you guys went through all the things :D Excited about what you think about Feros and the story there, it's one of my favourite plots in ME1 but it's definitely wild. Work on those paragon and renegade options haha, you will need them down the line! Excited for the next ep, as always :)
Just a heads up a bunch of the crew is down on the bottom deck do you need to take the elevator down to the bottom that’s where Ashley, Rex and Garris are usually located along with one other person you haven’t met
Yalls Mass effect video formats is good, like where you do side missions all the way until the end and then you do a Main/Primary mission. But i think every episode should start off with a Big Main misson, then side stuff. and Then right before eric and sarah say they about to wrap up the episode lol and do one more big mission in the end. I can see us going into jan 2025 by the time we get to mass effect 3 if not LOL. wild ride itll be tho
They'll easily finish ME3 this year if they play them back-to-back, don't worry. Going by my calculations, with at least about 4h (sometimes well over 4) per week, they're well on course to finishing the series by the end of this year. That's not even accounting for the schedule change, 'cause they're going to bump it up to one more ME ep per week for this game when they finish Alan Wake, that's what they said anyway. We'll see if they play the other two back-to-back, but we've gotta let them play their way. Also, with them finishing up the majority of the side quests earlier on, it leaves them with less to do later on. Besides, I'm sure some episodes will be more story-focused
I had to laugh at the TPK. Garrus and Kaidan are probably the two squishiest Me1 squad mates. Might want to only take one of them at a time. But that could be me though - I can never keep Garrus alive
Edit: judging by your mako movement, I think this is either default on controller, or you already fixed the setting. Movement on keyboard is horrible by default lol. Not sure if you found the setting or not, but there's a setting involving the mako that turns off movement based on camera and makes it drive more like vehicles in other games, made it 1000x easier when I found that. Not sure if it applies on controller as much but driving keyboard without changing that setting was rough.
I wouldn’t worry about the “sprint” button, I’m pretty sure it doesn’t actually move you any faster, just changes the camera field of view and bobs a bit to make it “feel” faster It was a whole thing on the internet when things like this were discovered in games at the time
Also Eric, sprinting into a wall lets you get into cover, again idk if yall already learned this since you guys are really farther over on patreon. So low cover and taller walls, help :p
Usually i try to avoid spoiler, in this case no risk so: -exploration planet: on the map are indicated the importants poi for the story but not all the poi. You need to explore the planet to find all (but it's not necessary to coplete the story). If you'are enough close to a poi, it will be displayed on the map. -electronic skill too low: you need just spend some points in the Electronic tree, no need to give commands to your party. If you have enough points, it's an auto thing. And now, enjoy the game because now you have really started.
Yeah, don't forget this game is old as dirt so the save system is.... yeah. As you discovered, getting wiped can erase a pretty healthy chunk of planet exploration. Best to save before and after every major encounter so unexpected deaths don't wipe out good chunks of progress. (I assume y'all record far enough in advance that you've figured this out on your own, lol.) I assume the comments section is already screaming at you for certain... misunderstandings. Don't worry about it. Just play your game and have fun.
The look of realization when Sarah finds out she accidentally bullied Joker

The Mako, also known as the drunk rhino. Fun and aggravating rolled into one. 😂

18:14 I see playing Paragade is rubbing off on IRL Eric, that was cold lmao
21:05 Are we gonna have a party? Oh you have no idea.

@@SpitFir3Tornado oh right, thank you for clarifying! I remember that he's a primarily pistol user as a biotic 😅

I know just last video I said I started a Mass Effect playthrough, but I'll probably be onto ME2 already by next drop on Friday already.

We eventually find it in a future episode, thanks!
I have always found Garrus to be super squish till I upgrade and modify his armor and level up his skills more

That was in the Original Trilogy. Legendary Edition fixed that and allows you to sprint longer and more often.

I would guess that you’re ahead of the posted vids, but I really hope you got all of your squad members before doing too many more quests. 🤞
Getting killed in a mako mission and learning that this game isn't great at auto saving is a rite of passage I'm afraid 😅
