Very useful video. After watching the video I bought lilium bulbs from Amazon. Now I will follow your guidelines about potting of the bulbs. Thank you so much.
Very nicely put across my friend, just 3 questions 1) how long does the flower stay bloomed during the season? 2) what do you do after blooming is completed nd flower withering? 3) what do you do for the next season...keep the plant like that till next season or take out the bulbs if leaves dry?
Good information.. thanks for sharing. Can you please also let us know how to preserve the bulbs for the next season and how to grow bulbs bigger in size during their rest period?
@Yash Vardhan Jain, Thank you very much for the feedback, appreciate it. The bulbs would get bigger as long as it has the leaves. With the help of photosynthesis procedure, the leaves would store the energy in the bulbs for next season. So, without active leaves, the size of the bulbs won't increase or multiply. They do multiply and produce lots of baby bulbs. To preserve the bulbs for next season, plz do the below things - You can dig out the bulbs before rainy season starts and the ideal time to dig them is May-June and you can plant them again in October. Before digging out the bulbs, plz do these procedures - 1. Let the all leaves turn yellow or brown 2. Dig out the bulbs very carefully and keep them under sunlight for 2-3 days (just let them dry a bit) 3. Remove everything from the bulbs and cut the main stalk but keep around 1/2 to 1 inch with the bulbs 4. Now take a Ziploc bag, fill the half of the bag with moist cocopeat (plz note it should be moist, not wet). 5. Keep the bulbs in the bag and cover them again with Cocopeat. 6. Lock the bag n store it in a cool place n away from direct Sunlight. Plz make sure that bulbs are not visible from outside and so cover them cocpeat properly. Another method - If you like, you can also wrap the bulbs with a newspaper and keep them in a cardboard box. The first method is much better and that's the way I normally do. I hope I have answered your question but still, if you have any let me know and I would get back to you ASAP. I would try to do one video showing the exact process. Thank you!
@@GardeningUpbeat ... This was the information that i was looking for sir. Nobody explains it in such detail. Thank You for this video , last year I bought few bulbs but I think I buried too deep in shade and over water , they never bloomed when I checked my pot the bulbs were rotten.
Sure, we can keep the plant in the same pot for next season. Depending on weather, sometimes they also bloom in Summer. When they are over crowded, you can divide the bulbs and grow in other pots. This year, I would try to do a video as I don't have any old records, thank you!

Hi there, I am not sure why my Lily buds ( Flower buds) are rotting! It is turning black and getting off the plant! How can I save them from rotting? Please help! To note, I kept them indoor with very less sunlight! I bought them just about 2 weeks ago! I only gave water then the top soil was dry. I will appreciate your help!
Look like Sunlight is the main issue..they need direct sunlight to bloom. Please try to provide at least 2-3 hours of direct sunlight. When you bought, they were in other environment and suddenly got new environment as you kept indoor. For indoor, you can grow Amaryllis, Football Lily. But, flowering season is gone for Amaryllis but time is there for Football lilies. Good luck and if I am not wrong, you bought the Fragrant Lilium variety? Because, in that variety buds get damaged if we do little bit here and there...
Sept-October is the best time to grow..Some lilies do bloom in Summer depending on the temperature. If it's not much in your place, you can plant now as well and you would get flowers in Summer.

@raj kumar, thank you very much for watching the video and for your feedback, appreciate it. Regarding your problem, I suspect problem is in the bulbs and whatever bulbs you purchased, not matured enough. Can you plz tell me if the size of the bulbs is same like you see in the video? 3 months to sprout is quite a long time and matured bulbs won't take much time to sprout. Also, can you let me know how deep you are planting them n your watering schedule (before they sprout). Plz plant them how I did and avoid watering it too much before they sprout. Anyway, let me know the above things and definitely I would be glad to solve your problem. Last request - Plz don't call me Sir....brother, gardening upbeat or Chandan (my name) would be just perfect (or anything else other than Sir) :-)
Sir, my Asiatic lily bulb sprouted well but after few days the shoot got rotten, because of excessive rainfall. I took out the bulb . Little bit part of the scale of the bulb is also rotten. What should I do? Can it be saved and used to regrow a new shoot?
@rekha singh, I am sorry to say, there is not much hope from the same bulb. But still, you can dig up from the soil and keep in a bright area for next few days. You can also treat it with fungicide (like SAAF, simply sprinkle on the surface). Then, plant them again if you see bulb has stopped rotting. But like I said, I don't see much hope there and it would be better if you plant new bulbs again. They need water in very less interval (as I mentioned in the video) n rot too easily if the soil is consistently wet. Hope that helps...One request - I would appreciate if you don't call me Sir, thank you :-)

@Bidyut De, Sir, I believe you got the wrong bulbs. 15-16 inches leaves but no stem, definitely these are other bulbs. There are many other bulbs that produce such kind of long leaves like Nerine Lily, Spider lily etc. Unfortunately, those bulbs look similar to Asiatic Lily. So, it would be better if you get from reputed store (offline or online) and if possible, please try to grow the sprouted bulbs. You would see the stem almost. Wish you all the best!
@@GardeningUpbeat yes i know. Im a bit worried that the bulb may rot together with the stem while it starting to rot. I'm really new with it. I hope that i can take good care of it.
@Soumya Naik, oh! sorry to know :-( If all the buds are gone, I am sorry to say that it's not going to produce the buds again as they bloom only once per season (like all other lilies)
@Soumya Naik, no, plz don't dig up the bulbs so soon. Sometimes they do manage to bloom in Summer as well. You can dig up the bulbs when you see leaves are turning yellow or brown. For the other one, you can try fertilizing once though they don't need too much fertilizer. No worry, it would bloom. Just watch out for the pests :-) Aphids attack them a lot :-( Good luck and already uploaded today's video :-)

Can i just leave them on the pot after the bloom and just wait for it to grow again?
@Prince Philip, Sure, we can do that :-) We just need to be bit careful while watering....
@@GardeningUpbeat yes i know. Im a bit worried that the bulb may rot together with the stem while it starting to rot. I'm really new with it. I hope that i can take good care of it.
Which state are u from??

I bought some bulbs. When to plant it,?
@Susmita Dutta, Glad to know and this is the best time to plant the bulbs! Good luck :-)
My plant got pest attack..so i washd it thoroughly removed all the flies n bugs ..but aftr some days its buds fell off...will it get new buds now???
@Soumya Naik, oh! sorry to know :-( If all the buds are gone, I am sorry to say that it's not going to produce the buds again as they bloom only once per season (like all other lilies)
@@GardeningUpbeat 😔😔😔
@@GardeningUpbeat so should i remove its bulbs off now....and also anothr bulb has not got bud..only leaves are thr.
Wat abt tat one?
@Soumya Naik, no, plz don't dig up the bulbs so soon. Sometimes they do manage to bloom in Summer as well. You can dig up the bulbs when you see leaves are turning yellow or brown. For the other one, you can try fertilizing once though they don't need too much fertilizer. No worry, it would bloom. Just watch out for the pests :-) Aphids attack them a lot :-( Good luck and already uploaded today's video :-)
@@GardeningUpbeat okk dr..very nice vedio on fertilizing rose plant..i just watchd it..😊
how often do you water?
@Jenn Mte, Around once in 7(+ -) days. Watering when top soil dries out is fine and please note that, my plant was not getting the whole day of sunlight and hence, it was needing very less frequent water. Thank you :-)
