I have never experienced mental trauma like last year ever before. I guess because I was expecting some really poor rusty game play, (and with no preseason work) this year it didn't feel that bad seeing some of the mistakes we saw.
Those linebackers looked alot better then most of you thought but I had faith and they played pretty good...could get better and will get better but they did surprise alot of people
Love these pods, especially bringing all the little things to light after games. Btw, check out the Mailata tackle after the interception. It was a thing of beauty.
The single biggest problem I have with Hurts is he forces the ball too much to Brown in particular. Brown is a baller but Hurts needs to stop forcing it to Brown when the play is not there. The player that Hurts overlooks far too often underneath is Goedert and he does it far too often.
At least this game was more exciting than Chiefs v Ravens! Also don't forget altitude did play a factor. Philadelphia is 37 ft above sea level, São Paulo if 2700 ft above sea level. Denver, the mile high stadium is 5280 ft above sea level. Saquon left the field at times to breath oxygen on the sideline, and its on broadcast film.
First game of the season, different country, new coordinators, sloppy field, and still got the W against a really good team. People will nitpick Jalen, and the defense, but when week 13 rolls around all we'll remember is the win. Go Birds🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
Dave, your story about having dinner with the unofficial Eagles ambassador was one of the most enjoyable articles I've read on the NBC Philly website. Very nicely done.
A dub is a dub. You know how a lot of the guys on the team were saying that they would rather have their "home game" at HOME... the way they started with an interception and a fumble on the first two possessions, maybe they should be glad that they weren't at the Linc
Timing and footing was a factor. Let's give them some slack, week 1 with little to no preseason action. New players, coordinators, etc. I was actually impressed with the coaching staff. Seems like Green Bay had a great plan but our Eagles were able to roll with the punches.
I listen to a lot of podcasts - current events, food, music, Eagles - but ALWAYS Eagle Eye first. Really appreciate this great free content. You guys said enough about the game, so I just want to comment on 2 guys you mentioned: Jerry Lewis and Ben Vaughan. Roob is right - Jerry Lewis is a comic genius underrecognized in the US. Dave, watch the Nutty Professor (original) and see the inspiration for Frink on the Simpsons. And Roob, my #2 podcast is "The Many Moods of Ben Vaughan," because this Philly guy digs out the gems and connects the dots in music history like you guys connect the dots in Eagles analysis
Appreciate the hardship of your travel, Dave, to bring us on location coverage of this very special game. Excellent pre/post game analysis, Guys! (I never miss an episode of the pod out here in Portugal🇵🇹) 🏈💚🏈 Go Birds❗
It was like a pre-season game played on a high-school field. More entertaining than the Chiefs-Ravens, and an Eagles win, but I wasn’t that impressed with some of the players, especially Jalen Hurts. The good news is he doesn’t have to do it all, he has a great supporting cast, can Saquon maintain that kind of performance over the course of the season? I hope so. I think the real season starts next month when the teams have shaken off the rust.
Jalen just needs to realize this team dont need the hero ball. He needs to be the point guard and spread the ball. Just because AJ puts his hand up and wants the ball doesnt mean you have to throw it. Only 1 game but im glad i was wrong about Zack Baun. He looked great tonight hope he keeps it up 💪 and what a stud Q is. He is a real ball player and did a hell of a job and will get better and better. He is going to get beat but thats to be expected with a rookie CB. Avonte Maddox is a great guy but they straight up picked on him tonight and i think the injuries might have caught up because he looks slow. Put Coop in there and let him learn on the job just like Q is and it will pay off come december.
@@emj4three So instead of taking 3 points force a throw into double coverage in the redzone where everything becomes even tighter makes me chip kelly? Your a clown buddy, you got no clue what your talking about.
Hey man great comment, don’t listen to them, they don’t know what the fk they’re talking about. He should’ve threw it away and taken the 3 and we would’ve won by 8 instead of 5. The first game rust and jitters and the shit field were the cause of most of the mistakes we saw. By week 3 or 4 we are cooking with crisco
We’re like Jerry Lewis in France baby😂 Jalen has a lot to clean up and it’s time to grow past dumb mistakes taking your own points off the board, I think he takes ownership of his recent TO struggles. Saquan is a beast like we all hoped🙏 Skinny and swoll Batman were in full effect! We need Goedert and Dotson to break into this offense and it’ll go crazy. Dean looked awesome to me, dropped a pick 6 but solid tackling tonight. CJGJ looked like he really struggled out there, but Q and Baun were great! Thank you Blankenship! D Line was tearing apart their run game to start, JC is the truth and we need more from JD. All in all what a great game🦅🍻
Thanks for the postgame pod👏🏼👏🏼Now that Fran Duffy is gone, there is no postgame show from the Eagles official outlets,so u two are our safe haven😎GO BIRDS!🦅🦅🦅
Jalen will be just fine, he will come to relize he has a pleather of weapons at his disposal and can beat defenses in numerous ways. Soften them up with our explosive running game, or air attack if their secondary is weak, or mix it up, Jalen is smart to process information, believe me........ It's our year😅😅😅😊
on the second interception AJ was open. He slipped and then the CB got to the spot before he did and made the int. No excuses for the first one but the second isn't as bad as it seemed.
The problem of the ball going from the center to Hurts is one matter. Hurts needs to minimize his turnovers. Everything else was impressive. And I hate the kickoff rule. What were they trying to fix?
As for the crowd, it wasn't an even split. The thing is... as someone who was at the game, this was a celebration of american football in Brazil. There were Eagles fans, Packers fans and fans for all the other 30 teams. There were even Cowboys and Giants fans. In other words, Eagles fans cheered for the Eagles, Packers fans cheered for the Packers and everybody else cheered for both teams because it was their only opportunity to watch an NFL game in Brazil. I'm sure that to you guys it's a regular sunday but when the Packers entered the field people weren't just cheering THE Packers, they were cheering the fact that they were watching NFL players with their own eyes, live.
It’s not a problem. Last year he was in the MVP race even though he led the league in turnovers. Media loves him. He’s probably in the MVP race already with two picks and a fumble.
Our defense line stinkssssssss sweat plays like he’s 43 years old. I don’t see them having total 45 sacks this year. Our secondary is way better except bradberry and Maddox them two should have been Gina last year. We need a defensive end that can actually get to the qb.
AJ called for the ball on the second interception, then AJ lost his footing when the ball came out… same with the near pick to AJ… that field did cost us… I expect to see 1 or less picks next week.
thank you. not sure why that isn't being said more. the slip gave the CB the time he needed to get to the spot before AJ where he could grab it. Otherwise AJ keeps coming forward and probably gets the TD
The sequence after the big Barkley run where Hurts tucked it for a loss, then almost threw a pick six, then DID throw an interception in the end zone was very worrying to me.
I have nothing to say about JH performance. The heart he plays with can’t be coached.. I’ll take a few interceptions here and there and I get they were bad ones but it’s week 1 lots of new elements. center. Coaching staff. That defense has I believe at least 7 first rounders.
It wasn't only the 2 bonehead picks, it was 2-3 other clear interceptable balls (notably the one which AJ had to play defense at midfield and the other that coulda have been a 85 yd pick-6!!!)... This decision-making on behalf of Jalen must get better !!! We need Rodgers back and/or Dejean to step up asap bc Maddox needs to be off the field!!! GIven the field I'll give the pass rush a a pass but if they cannot get any pressure on Cousins next week then we should be alarmed!!! On the flipside, this offense can be lethal if Saquon keeps this up!!!
10:46 - "I thought he'd be over the interceptions. I thought he'd be beyond that this year" - huh?? Why?? Did you forget he's learning ANOTHER new offense?? I could've sworn Andy Reid stated multiple times that it takes a QB really about 3-4 years to be comfortable in an offense. Jalen's just learning his 3rd in 4 years. No preszn work, either. Man, sometimes Roob sounds like he's just learning football. Idk
It was a beautiful night for football in Philly, where we are supposed to play our home games. Field not slippery at all. HATE the Brazil crap, relieved we came out w a "W" after ugly, sloppy game. Dallas still sucks
I hate to say this but watching Jalen last night and over the last year is reminding me way too much of watching Carson. Forcing plays and bad turnovers
I get the criticism but remember what these players were dealing with(on both teams) that field was horrible and players were sliding and everything. I was hard to fully cover players
Roob says “interesting” as much as he blocks people on Twitter? I never argued or wrote a negative word under his post, matter of fact I used Twitter because of his insight. The last post I see 6/28 😂 I’m still a huge fan of both of you guys
Absolutely unacceptable to fly 10 hours, lose a home game, and play on that bullshit of a field. Happy with the win but also got a new grey hair or two!!
People don’t realize just HOW bad the giants oline has been over the past 4 years. I’m not exaggerating when I say they have had guys on that line that should have been or should be in the XFL or whatever tf it’s called nowadays. And some weren’t even good enough for that league and should have been garbage truck men somewhere. You can’t do anything as a running back if your offensive line can’t even create a crack of a hole on 97% of plays designed for you. Add that to every team designing their defense around you because there is no other threat on your offense and you basically turn an amazing talent into an average looking player.
The Eagles of last year dont close out a game the way they did last night. But I am still looking back at last year. I won't be sold on this team for a while

As a guy who lives in Mountain time and works overnight I can't express enough how thankful I am for yall putting this out still.

I live in Springs. Close enough.
Thanks for burning the midnight oil and getting this pod out!
Lots to improve on but good win against a solid team, go birds🦅🦅

Saq hasn’t had 3 TDs since his rookie year. Thank you Giants
Could of had 4
Might have to change his name to Saqwon now that he’s on a team that can consistently win games!!
What a rollercoaster of a game from literal start to finish.
Just like every game last year! Lol
Yup, because ppl seem to not realize last year wasn’t just play calling. Hurts doesn’t see the field well, and definitely has a problem with blitzes.
I have never experienced mental trauma like last year ever before. I guess because I was expecting some really poor rusty game play, (and with no preseason work) this year it didn't feel that bad seeing some of the mistakes we saw.

The single biggest problem I have with Hurts is he forces the ball too much to Brown in particular. Brown is a baller but Hurts needs to stop forcing it to Brown when the play is not there. The player that Hurts overlooks far too often underneath is Goedert and he does it far too often.
I completely agree with you.
Really? Thats part of it..but the decision making. You dont throw that ball to anyone in the endzone.. certain throws just arent worth it..
Facts
Seems like an oversimplification. Goedert was open on that play? You sure?
Aj signaled for the ball then slipped. But I guess we aren’t watching the same game
At least this game was more exciting than Chiefs v Ravens! Also don't forget altitude did play a factor. Philadelphia is 37 ft above sea level, São Paulo if 2700 ft above sea level. What a dumb comment. AJ is one of the best players in the NFL. You should be trying to get the ball to him. You’ve got Chip Kelly brain.
watch the replay. he SLIPPED after calling for it so he couldn't get to his spot. That was a key difference.
Quinlyn Mitchell and Baun are tough and play with instincts they are plus for our Eagles I'm impressed with them....

They're inexcusable for someone who has been in the league this long. You simply can't do it.....drives me nuts.

Packers are a pretty good team. Was nice to come out with the win.
For kick offs, line teams up on the 50 yard line and punt the ball to the other team (like a 4th down punt). Hello from Ecuador.
