In AE CC14 making a shape with the shapetools gives you the possiblility to convert the shape to a bezierpath. (rightclick on shape/shapepath, convert to bezierpath), then choose path and copy paste the data to whatever you want to do with it.
Thank you sir, I drew a shape for 3 hours but it took me not to draw it on a solid background but on a shape layer, I couldn't apply saber, luckily with your instructions I was able to save it
Knew it had to be possible since its just copying the path data, couldn't figure out how to do it in practice though. Thanks for the succinct, helpful vid!
This is good but when I paste the mask it's in a completely different place! How did you retain your position when you pasted it?!!?! All I can find online is a script to do this put you have to pay for it :(
I am trying to paste the shape path onto a JPG. I resized my image to fit into my composition and when I paste the shape path on to the mask in the image the mask is tinny. If I do it without resizing the image it works fine. Is there a fix to this? THe image i am using is HUGE because its a professional photo.
+snake Hi, yes you can. Next to the the 'convert this layer to3D' checkbox is the 'make this layer an adjustment layer' button (it's the circle image, half black half white at the top of the panel).
This is probably one of the best videos on AE out there.. such a timesaver. Thank you!
Exactly what i was looking for. So straight forward and to the point. Thanks a ton, man.

Muito Bom !! Ajudou muito!
Hi, How did you draw those circles in the video?
Hi. They are made using the recording program (Camtasia Studio) - you could make them in AE by using the Stroke effect.
can i turn a shape layer into an adjustment layer??
