There is a custom firmware available for TS80 by a developer called Ralim. The update takes less than 15 seconds and after which, you will be able to use a regular 5v charger/power-bank to power up the TS80. You may google about it. There are videos on UA-cam as well.
@@notenoughtechThe only downside is it takes longer to heat up to its optimal temperature of 400+ degrees. Instead of 18 seconds or so it may take 30 seconds or so. But the latest update version 2.10 seems to have fixed that..
That's an awesome thing! Thank you I will print it tonight! It could use a cable space tho! I just added a USB-A port to my soldering stand so I can use battery bank soldering stand and the iron together. notenoughtech.com/review/dani-soldering-stand/
Does anyone know of a good video on soldering? I'm totally new to it and want to learn the right way!

Really? That's cool! I need to check it out. I guess it wont be as powerful but may be very useful in a pinch!

It's not a bad trade off at all thanks for the tip
Can you do a review/walkthrough of your "portable setup"?
Would love to see it!!!
Currently, I'm using my custom toolbox. I will have an article about it once the build is finished
Good stuff, thank you.
Thanks Ron
I want a soldering iron that runs off my iPod!
TS80 will, you just need to have a decent playlist! :)
If you own a 3D printer, I can recommend my case on Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com/thing:3560806
